Exactly. Its way too far gone. Maybe they should have listened to the real feedback given during the beta in July and all of the idiots saying “its an old build! Things will be fine at launch! We dont have our light yet!” should have stfu and been honest about that garbage ass beta.

Yah... I don’t see any of those “white knight fan boys” on here anymore. Lolol

Between beta and launch, there wasn't really enough time to make major changes, just fix bugs and polish things up. The beta was so limited that it's not like any of the issues with the game were obvious at that point (at least pve wise, I only played a couple rounds of PvP because two modes on two Maps gets old super quick).
-
Major things that were complained about during the beta could have been changed with a delay of the game though, like the new weapon slot system, no choice of pvp game mode and sluggish player movement.
-
When I played the beta, I didn't realize a lot of these things. I thought that there were going to be shotguns, snipers, and shotguns in all slots and only the OP ones were power weapons. I was actually excited for this because it meant there could be super powered secondary weapons such as shotguns with shot package. I didn't realize that all secondary weapons were now only power weapons. In beta, there were only two game modes and you were able to pick which one you played.
-
Thing is that the things complained about during the beta are generally not the major issue now. The real issues are the progression and loot system and it's relation to endgame and just the general lack of the carrot on a stick. That alone would calm a lot of people down and why many were calling for calm. Don't think anyone thought it end up like this. Everyone could get over the subclasses not being exactly the same (that's never changing) and 4v4 etc if those things in the rest of the game were better.
-
Ya you are probably right about that. Major things that were complained about during the beta that could have been changed with a delay though, like the new weapon slot system, no choice of pvp game mode and sluggish player movement.
-
Out of those things I think the biggest chance you have is pvp game mode choice.
Out of those things I think the biggest chance you have is pvp game mode choice.
Not if limiting mode choice is a strategy for decreasing matching times.

Had they listened to our feedback during DRE, they could have started fixing this stuff ahead of time and had a plan to address it. Maybe even delayed the launch of the game until December 31- thereby STILL fulfilling their contract.

I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but the D2 beta was the “final build”, more or less. At that point in development, changes to the RC (release candidate) are small at best - usually tweaks or bug fixes. Major changes that players wanted would have only been possible a year ago near the start of development. It’s sad but true. It didn’t help that Bungie had to fabricate a new game engine, which is EXTREMELY time-consuming and code-intensive.

I can’t think of any open betas that were not actually the final build. They can tweak very minor things that require changing one line of code (like super recharge rates) but beyond that, the game is carved in stone. Open betas tend to be stress tests and creating buzz for advertising.

Burst my bubble? Im well aware that the beta was the final build and we were going to be buying day 1 garbage with this game. I tried to warn people but was met with resistance by many many morons on this forum. And if more people had listened and realized we were going to be buying day 1 garbage and canceled preorders maybe the game could have been delayed until it was an actual good game.

Lol if you go back and read some of my old posts. I predicted exactly this scenario. Tried to point out that Luke Smith was clueless and had dumbed down everything. Then read the replies I got. Take careful note of the names defending the beta and then note how some of the top rated posts of late have been almost 100% copies of the posts those people were shooting me down about. Irony is a wonderful joke isn't it.

Yup I remember the sheep saying "wait for beta" then when it was out "it's just a beta" It annoys me that lost sols still has the gall to show up here
