  • The game feels like a huge regression from the first game, with the only actual improvements being a linear story, better graphics and cut-scenes, and more activities in Patrol (although they aren't really rewarding...). Everything else feels like 1 step forward, and 3 steps back. Crucible's reduced to 4v4 to encourage/force teamwork, but that doesn't really work out well. The Mercy Rule is almost non-existent. The purpose of that feature was to end the matches early so players wouldn't have to endure the demoralizing agony of a one-sided curb stomp. Now you practically have to be losing 12-80 before it kicks in. Players are frequently leaving matches--or in some cases, players like myself are sitting/dancing until the timer runs out, or the enemy team reaches max score--just like in Destiny 1 before they introduced that feature. Then there's the weapon system. Moving all of the one-hit special weapons to the Power (Heavy) Slot, and having the primaries and sidearms occupy the renamed Kinetic and Energy slots? That's fine. But making them weaker is such a ridiculous step backwards. They didnt even bother buffing the sniper and shotgun for PvE when moving them to the Power Slot. There's really no reason to use them since a fusion rifle, linear fusion rifle, and rocket launcher can outperform them. The PvE activities, when you really look at them, are an absolute joke. The Adventures, the Lost Sectors, Strikes; all worthless. Nothing really rewarding from them. No Strike-specific gear, no Enemy-themed gear from Lost Sectors, and no special gear from the Adventures. The Raid is also pointless. None of the gear even have any Raid-related perks. No perks for additional damage to Cabal, no speed boost perks for specific parts of the Raid. Nothing. Let's not forget the fact that they removed the option to buy Legendary Gear from the Vendors for Legendary currency. Now you have nothing to spend them on, and the Legendary Shards just keep piling up. I currently have 690 shards. What exactly am I supposed to spend these on? They could have at least allowed you to purchase legendary shaders from those vendors for shards. The fixed rolls and Mod system are an absolute miss. Fixed rolls would have been fine if: A)There were a lot more weapons and armor, B) they all had their own set of perks with some synergy; something that really makes those weapons more distinct from one another, and C) the Mods allowed you to actually customize them beyond just adding a shader, and changing the damage type. You can't even use the Kinetic and Elemental mods to change a weapon from a Kinetic to an Energy weapon, and vice versa. What about weapon mods to reduced ability cooldowns with kills from those weapons? What about mods to swap or customize the weapon's sights? What about Mods to change a weapon's rate of fire? They said they had some ideas for the Mod system that they wouldn't likely have time to implement before the game's set to be released, but I doubt it. I have a few gripes with the subclasses as well. The Attunements weren't a bad concept, but they were implemented rather poorly. You're restricted to only 2 of them, some of the perks aren't really good, nor synergize with the others, and you can't swap out any undesireable perks with one from the other Attunement. The obvious fix would be to create a 3rd attunement that unlocks (perhaps through a quest) after unlocking the first 2, and fix several perks that are underperforming (e.g. Six Shooter and Winged Sun) or allow players (who want to) to swap out a perk from the equipped Attunement with an adjacent perk in the other. For instance, if I'm using Attunement of Sky, but I want to use Fated for the Flame in Attunement of Flame, I could select the Winged Sun perk, which would then be grayed out, and instead it would highlight the the Fated for the Flame perk to indicate that it's been swapped, without actually moving the perk to the other tree. Perks like Six Shooter and Cataclysm should also have had the option to activate them by holding the buttons for Super activation, like Ward of Dawn, so that if the players want to use the regular Golden Gun, or Novabomb, while using the Attunement those perks are in, they can.
