Remember the Replay value of the Vault (D1) - and the mysteries that we searched for

The Vault of Glass was a masterpiece in that it gave players something to go back for time and time again. It offered exploration and mystery (where is that 1 last chest, or does it even exist??). Do you want to go this way - or go that way to get the extra chest? Think of all the exploration that people did. I even remember seeing a video where someone figured out how to go backwards through the rooms and end up back at the top entrance. There were a lot of extra things to do - just because of the design of it. Heck even later in D1's life - "can we really kill a gorgon? - cool lets go" The Vault is just one example - there are many different things in D1 that were mysteries that had to be solved by the community. Now my rant - What in D2 has this type of exploration/mystery designed in it? Maybe you could say the underbelly of the Leviathan (but I have a map, and guess what, I think it's complete) In my opinion this is one of the key reasons that people are bored, and complaining about D2 - there needs to be more mystery in the design - things for us to speculate about, and things to try to figure out. There is no reason to explore new area's (hidden ghosts anyone?). There are no mystery levels to acquire a new fancy exotic (black spindle anyone?) So what do you think?

  • I think you really nailed the spirit of it, not to mention the "lore" found around the worlds is mostly ghost trying to make small talk.

  • D2 is like a corporate redesign o f a beautiful concept car that robs it of all its magic.

  • I agree. D1 had a mystery element to it. We didn't know much about the universe or how bungie operates. We know how bungie operates now and we know a lot about the destiny universe. All the mystery has run dry. The only thing they needed to do was build on the story and bring the best elements of D1 pve and pvp content to D2. D2 brings a lot of great improvements like the fast travel. But it took away a lot of great features that made the game amazing. There's nothing mysterious about the game anymore and I don't have the need to go out and explore. All grimoire and lore are pretty much gone.

    • I completly agree D1 had more enjoyment than D2. There really is no point in grinding anymore.
