as someone with both, neither are very comparable besides the open world. the witcher 3 is a hardcore RPG, Zelda is not.

Edited by ALIAS-F4LS: 10/17/2017 5:48:07 PMPersonally I just like the cartooniness of BOTW. Great story with fun characters. And the loot kind of reminds me of my Runescape days which is always a plus for me.

4 RepliesEdited by Yarbey: 10/15/2017 1:15:22 AMThe Witcher 3 has a 93 on metacritic Breath of the wild has a 97 on metacritic Breath of the wild is obviously the better game. It's combat works better the character doesn't have crappy floaty controls like the witcher, nor is it as tedious bore of a game from start to finish like the witcher.

7 RepliesNever played Witcher. Saving it for when I have 3 weeks to burn.

I personally prefer Witcher

21 RepliesFor kids: BOTW For adults: Witcher One of my favorite things about W3 is how mature it is. Like “damn, video games are allowed to go that far?”

After putting considerable hours into both games, Zelda takes it for me. Witcher 3 has a good story, but only really for the second half. The first half is just you running around on a goose chase. This takes away from the game as it becomes terribly dull. That said the side quests are fantastic and a lot of effort was put into them, and that's something you don't see often in RPG's. BoTW on the other hand really did feel like you were making your own adventure. If you saw it, you could go there. Wait, you can also snow board down there? WAIT. You can hand glide off there? WAIT YOU CAN DO BOTH?! I found it less stressful to play then witcher as you didn't feel too bad about not playing the main story, rather you felt like you wanted to explore. The combat was fun and the survival aspects were a welcome change to the series.

4 RepliesEdited by Bake8935: 10/14/2017 9:04:28 PMI love Breath of the Wild, but this isn’t even a competition. The Witcher 3 is the greatest game of this console generation, and it’s not even close. I spent about 110 hours with BotW, and I loved it, but I’ve had my fill, and don’t anticipate ever playing it again. The Witcher 3 on the other hand I’ve spent more than 350 hours with, and absolutely plan on playing through them entire game again, dlc and all. I’ll easily end up with more than 500 hours with the game, which is more time than I’ve spent with a single player game ever, except for maybe GTA3.

One of the greatest RPGs ever made with ground breaking facial animation technology versus weapon durability thr game. Yeah this is gonna be a hard choice.

Edited by Kone19ps: 10/15/2017 10:59:29 PMWitcher 3. Zelda doesn't have as much depth to its questing. It's more of a sandbox and they have very different tones from each other. Not that it's bad, just different. I honestly prefer ocarina still but I'm getting a little sick of open worlds as a whole and the weapon breaking system really rubbed me the wrong way

I've been a Zelda fan since I was a kid, but Witcher 3 is more appealing to me overall. Mainly because I like the dark grittiness of the world itself, but also because of the story telling. I'm tired of having the protagonist never speak. So I love the whole dialogue system and intimate storylines in Witcher.

They are both great games but are targeting very different demographics so it's hard to compare. Zelda was a nice addition for fans, bringing modern mechanics into a classic game while still being simple enough for the new generation of gamers to pick up and play. Witcher is story based and unless you're savvy on the lore, the mechanics are going to be pretty frustrating because they didn't nail that part at all. It's a great game for people who like to take their time and thoroughly explore.

12 RepliesZelda for me, I just couldn't get into TW3, and I don't know why.

1 ReplyOh god don’t make me choose between these options

Witcher is such a damn good game , and with some of the best dlc I’ve ever seen
-
Didn't care much for witcher3 but I'm not buying a console just to play Zelda
-
2 RepliesI prefer every aspect of Breath of the Wild to the Witcher 3.
-
Zelda might be the best game ever but without Nintendo hardware, I’ll never play it.
-
Don't care for The Witcher 3 at all.

1 ReplyI haven't found Witcher 3 to be all that amazing during my time with it. BoTW though... God damn, game of this gen
-
TW3, game of this gen.

13 RepliesOne doesn't require a specific piece of hardware to play.

I got bored with both after not too long so neither.

I love both games, but I prefer Witcher 3 in this case. After beating BotW I had no drive to play it again, but Witcher 3 keeps me coming back to experience such a well crafted world.
-
Witcher 3 by far.
