Greetings,
Since Destiny 2 launch, I've encountered an issue where randomly my weapon will cease firing for a moment, either when holding down the trigger (like unloading an auto rifle mag), or squeezing shots (for instance, with a hand cannon). Primarily this happens while in Crucible, but it has happened once or twice in PVE activities. Overall, it's occurred roughly a dozen times, or about once every other day. It's very frustrating, particularly in a PVP firefight.
At first I thought it was a problem with my controller, so I spent time in Destiny 1 trying to reproduce it, but was never able to. I don't have a reliable reproduction case yet, as it seems to occur randomly. It also occurred while testing a different controller in Destiny 2.
I use Puppeteer, so then I thought maybe I was accidentally sprinting, but that didn't seem right, since I'm pretty aware of what I'm doing at any given time. I'm also very familiar with using sprint to cancel reload animations in Destiny 1, and it didn't feel like that (I also wasn't reloading any of the times the issue occurred).
I also had one occurrence where my weapon was stuck in a lowered position (like when sprinting) while I was standing still, and wouldn't fire. A clanmate also had this happen during the raid.
I've asked clanmates and some twitch viewers about it, and encountered several people who have also run into this issue. Unfortunately I don't have anything better than anecdotes at this time, but I'll see about getting video next time it occurs.
For reference, I play on a PS4 Pro.
I just wanted to bring attention to this, since there doesn't seem to be much discussion despite not being an isolated incident.
Thanks,

1 ReplyExact same problem on pc here, wanna try another mouse but I'm 100% sure it's destiny because nowhere else does my gun randomly stop firing with my finger still holding down the trigger.

Thanks, -pyroglyphix[/quote] I was playing IronBanner today and it was doing this. But I didnt notice sprinting. My hunter was clearly walking. She just wouldnt shoot. I'm trying to get better at this and this bug isnt helping. I would have had a lot of kills but it would occur right when Im in a firefight and it would cause me to be eliminated. :/ Is there a way to fix this? I noticed it's happening with almost every weapon I try to use. Even Wish Ender.

I see it happen a LOT — already a dozen times today — to Uriel’s Gift. However, I am on Xbox One, so this bug is not limited to PlayStation. I replaced my controller; same exact issue. I even yanked the batteries and tried running the controllers off a charger cable; same issue. To test further, I played some Tom Clancy’s The Division and was able to burn through clip after clip in my autos without fail, so this is a software defect in Destiny 2. To spell this out clearly: THIS SOFTWARE BUG IS NOT A CONTROLLER MALFUNCTION. This is not being caused by any kind of sprinting. I am not reloading while shooting. I am not depressing the sticks while shooting. I do not see any unexpected animation other than the gun suddenly stops firing with ammo still in the magazine. I do not see this happen with any other type of gun; the bug seems limited to autos, in my experience. I am ADS every time this happens. I usually have an opponent dead-to-rights in my reticle when this happens. I am usually in the top of the clip when this happens. It usually happens after firing less than 10 rounds on a single trigger pull. Releasing and pulling the trigger often gets the gun to resume shooting, but being PvP, I have a small supporting sample size to back this up because I usually die very shortly after my auto jams up.

Here's a link to a clip of this happening to me. I was walking forward, shooting directly at someone and then just randomly started sprinting without pressing the stick.

While in Crucible my weapon will stop firing and holster itself. I’m like Bungie I suck on my own at PVP I don’t need your help

I've seen this a lot in PVE when using Uriel's Gift auto rifle. Changing weapons seems to make it stop. At one point, none of my weapons would fire. More frequently, I find that when I switch weapons to Uriel's Gift, the gun just continues to fire, reloads, and fires some more. I thought it might be the controller, but as soon as I switch weapons, it stops firing. Weird and frustrating. I just logged out of Destiny 2 because it was so frustrating. I'm on PS4, if that makes any difference.

Been using autos and same thing happens go through everything in the magazine, reload, raise to shoot and nothing or just one shot.... then I lose the fight good times.

I have had it happen once now, also in Crucible, with the IB auto rifle. The weapon just stopped firing after the first 10 rounds. Really annoying, as it also lost me the firefight. I hope Bungie can fix this soon.

Happens to me , at first i thought it was a weapon jam mechanic but after reading your comment it seems to be a little bit of a bug.

I was just talking to my clanmates about this today. It looks like the sprint animation starts while firing. As far as I've seen, it almost always happens in Crucible, I don't think I've seen it in PvE, but I don't do much of that so that may be why. I had it happen to me four times today, two of which caused me to die. I'll try to replicate it next time I'm on and record a clip.
