Can Graviton Lance get a buff?

I remember back in vanilla D1 when Thorn and Bad Juju got buffed because they felt too underwhelming for taking up the exotic slot. I think Graviton Lance is in need of similar treatment. The exotic perk certainly gives it a unique playstyle, which I think is a good thing; making exotics handle differently than other weapons of the same type is a great way to make them stand out and feel exotic. The problem is, this particular perk only serves to make the gun worse. If it the damage was distributed evenly between all three rounds like with most pulse rifles, it would be much easier to do consistent damage. But with the majority of the damage concentrated in the final round of the burst, you lose a lot more damage if you don't land a precision hit with the third round; and with such high recoil and most enemies weak spots being their heads, it's not hard to get two weak crits and then miss with the strong round entirely. It ends up functioning like a scout rifle with the reticle slightly higher than normal. Now, none of this would be a problem if the explosions that proc on kills made up for it being harder to handle. But they really, really don't. They're tiny, so they rarely even hit any other enemies, and when they do, they don't seem to do much damage or blow the enemies back. Hopefully I'm not alone here in feeling like Graviton Lance is the Bad Juju of D2, and hopefully the sandbox team will see this and give it a boost to the explosion size and damage, and/or decreases the recoil.

  • Here's an idea: Make the Graviton Lance the slowest firing pulse rifle in the game, and I mean extremely slow firing. Then make the first 2 shots do damage on par with other pulse rifles, and make the 3rd shot extremely damaging.
You could also bring the explosion to on par with the sunshot, just sayin'
• Every time I see a post about buffing a underpowered exotic, I’m just going to say “better than fighting lion”

That gun needs work. If you miss your 3rd shot in a burst the enemies laugh at you as the've taken minimal damage. The explosion never hurts any extra enemies as the original target is flung back too far before they blow up. I wish it was better because its potential is great. Especially with a Nezarec's Sin on a warlock. But alas it sucks ass. On a side note. I miss Telesto. That was the best Void weapon in D1.

      • I propose that the black hole perk work like a warlock void grenade (not the scatter or third one) on kill. Either half the size and it procs every kill or full size and it can only proc once every 10 secs. Problem solved.

      • I miss my bad juju :/ I -blam!- and pillaged with that weapon on my void walker.

      • The third round shouldn't have more recoil, and for damage (the numbers aren't the actual numbers, just giving an example) If it does like 7,7,51 damage in crucible, it should actually do 15,15,35 to keep the first 2 shots from being pointless but not too much to keep the higher damage from being worthwhile

On the micro black hole shot, I'd add a micro black hole effect which acts like a mini smoke effect on the target - impacting visibility. It would be accumulative so build up with repeated hits. Failure to hit with that shot rapidly reverses the effect. Risk / reward. Yes it sucks to have you connect that final shot - but if you hit, then it's worth the effort.

      • The reticle is meant to be used as a tool, the top dot is usually where the black whole round will pop out of. Aiming upper body should land the 51-52 crit the majority of the time. Landing all shots with the weapon deals over 60 damage. Keeping a close range weapon such as antiope-D or better devil's allows you to bate a distant opponent with GL into close range and destroy them. Not to mention a great weapon to pick off survivors in a team fight.

      • I've selected it from Asher to use it on my warlock and after using for a while I realized the explosion that comes out of the enemy was super underwhelming.

      • I liked the GL for a long time & defended it but after getting my hands on other exotics, namely MIDA & Sweet Business I can’t defend it anymore. It needs a buff, either by smoothing out the damage of the burst or making the explosion perk more consistent. It’s a great looking weapon and it sounds amazing, but it’s performance leaves a lot to be desired.

        • The only time I have effectively used this weapon in pvp was when I was purposefully lagging behind my treammates to get the final shots in on hallway engagements. Got a few collaterals that way. Single engagements? It will lose to just about everything.

          • They could simply buff this gun by removing the black hole perk entirely and replace it with the bad juju perk, the explosions need to be as big as necrochasm from destiny 1. In destiny 1 the necrochams explosion was extremely bad almost exactly like graviton lance and then bungie buffed it and it became a really good gun capable of raining death on people and anyone close enough would die to the explosion which was awesome! Graviton lance needs the same treatment, it needs to feel exotic, and its not the only gun. Most guns in destiny 2 are in need of a buff other than the mida of course

A buff would definitely be of use! Especially since the other two that you can choose in the story are that good. The recoil could either be reduced, or the most damaging shot changed/increased.

          • Make it a linear fusion rifle in the energy slot ... after a kill the void ball tracks a near enemy but with more damage as is it now..... For balance,it's a 2 headshot kill in pvp

            • PVE -Reduce he recoil -buff accuracy -take away that weird effect that causes the exploding enemies to float away from others, almost negating it’s intended effect. PVP -reduce recoil.
