I can't be the only one who has realized that the difference between the classes is like 95% cosmetic.
Ive gotten 1 of each class up to 280 minimum. And here are my thoughts. Please. Hear me out.
Regardless of which class you pick, you master all guns equally. There's no class specific advantage like hunters mastering revolvers and snipers, warlocks SMGs and sidearms, and titans assault rifles and shotguns. It's all the same.
Regardless of which class you pick you have the exact same health and armor. Not titans have more HP and move slower, Hunters have least HPand move faster, and warlocks have mid HP and moderate mobility... they're all the same.
Regardless of which class you pick, you get to chose 1 of 2 supers. A ranged one shot kill, or a close quarters mash fest.
Regardless of which class you pick, you get an OP melee and a grenade that, no matter the variance, will wreck in PVE and suck in PVP.
Regardless of which class you pick, your story is identical. Character dialogue and interactions are mostly unchanged.
I've spent at least 30 hours playing all 3 classes, and at the end of that time, I realized I didn't have more fun playing any 1 class, because, in truth, there really wasn't that much of a difference between them. It's all so.... irrelevant.
TL:DR
Regardless of which class you pick, supers are the same, grenades and melees are the same, weapons utility is the same, mobility is the same, health/armor is the same... It's all... the same. And I think some major overhauls need to be made to make the classes feel more unique.

1 ReplyThis is all because everyone spent the last 3 years arguing about what ability or class was overpowered, ripping on titan skating, shoulder charge, smoke, firebolts, self res, hammers, blink, invisibility. If the community would have learned that classes have different and unique abilities and accepted when they were beaten by them then they wouldn't have made such drastic changes.
-
Yea, it's kinda sad. Also, throwing knife is now where near op.
-
Not sure about the mobility speed of movement, titans are generally fastest, hunters close seconds and warlocks slow ass
-
4 Replies1 of 2 supers? Did you forget the third subclass?
-
That's assuming classes are balanced, which they aren't. But otherwise, yes.
-
Lol no

1 Reply"I've spent at least 30 hours playing all 3 classes" 30 whole hours? Wow :) I sort of agree with you, except along with "cosmetic" differences, I'd say it feels different too. Mainly due to how the classes move and jump. Dodge vs shoulder charge. And, mini-wall vs rift vs throwing knife. The basic framework needs to be similar enough that they don't need to redesign the campaign levels to fit each class, and they need to balance them so there's no obviously best choice and obviously worst choice for Crucible. So, that means many of the basics are shared. Your example about gun specialties, for example: if Bungie did that, it simply creates another complicating factor in balancing Crucible. If a gun type is overpowered or underpowered, that would not only help or hurt people who like that gun type, it would affect an entire class. I think the differences are appropriate. I wish Bungie had kept Sunsinger, though. It was a unique super (talking about grenade spam, not self-res, although that too), and D2 has nothing like it. Dawnblade is a hammer titan clone.

3 RepliesEdited by God0fHe11fire595: 10/14/2017 5:47:51 AMWhat? No... The classes have their "stats" for a reason. Like I don't think it is possible with the equipment available for hunters to go above 6 in resiliance or recovery. You want to max a stat, you need a certain class. For the guns, sure, you can use any gun with any class. Some classes have perks for things like precision kills and such that favor certain archetypes over others. Also, some class only exotic armors favor certain guns, like the titan chest that reloads auto rifles, or the hunter pants that improve handcannons. Grenades? Fail in pvp? You said you used all classes, right? Take a striker and try a pulse grenade. Hell, take 2 of em. The class abilities are also very different. Warlocks can buff either damage or heal, titans can have a wall or a reload station. Hunters get a...fancy looking slide. Also, op melee? There is op, then there is something called devour that gets its own category. And the supers are wildly different. Dawnblade and hammer time are similar, but gg has different mechanics. Stormcaller and striker are amazing, arkstrider....exists. The void supers are all pretty unique.

5 RepliesI largely agree with this. Basically everything has been watered down to the point where they have lost their character. There isn't much that really feels unique at all.

Kuraishi SolWow Fam Desu - old
30 hours isn't alot at all. The playstyle and powers of each class are night and day. -
4 Replies
TLDR: the devour perk/Winters Guile, 10 recovery combo out classes everything in the game
Devour Voidwalker Warlocks are objectively better than every other class solely for the fact that they can regenerate health at a rate that can null Nightfall Boss weapons, (tested it myself on Arms Dealer NF, it works). There is not a single class in the game that can pull an instant health regeneration on every kill besides a Devour Voidlock. Warlocks are the objectively better tanks, they can spec for 10 recovery, Healing Rift, Devour, and there is very few things that can bring a Warlock in that situation down. Combine this with Winters Guile, and you have a Warlock that packs Mike Tysons punch and is virtually undying.

I'm probably going to find this guy on LFG one day. I'm going to be asking for another Titan and he says "Im a Titan!" So I accept his request and joins our first team to find out he is a hunter even though we already have three. I kick him immediately saying he lied. Then he replies to me with "But the classes are all the same why does it matter?" And I say because "hunters don't have rally barricade"
Also are -blam!-ing serious????? You think they are the same????? Each class has exotic armors that help them with a specific class of weapons.
-
2 RepliesWhat the -blam!- game are you playing?
-
3 RepliesCan someone explain to me why hunters are supposed to be the mobile class and yet almost all their armor comes with increased mobility, which only effects walking and jumping(?) why why why why why
-
You really have no idea what you're talking about. A devour warlock can tank pretty much everything that would splatter a hunter. The classes don't have major Stat differences, but their intrinsic perks make them very different.
-
If all the classes are the same, why am I good at Warlock, OK as a Titan and terrible at being a Hunter?
-
Do hunters have pulse grenades? No, I rest my case.
-
1 ReplyWish they could change the grenade system around. Titans should stick with grenades. Warlocks should have spells and hunters should have traps. Just a little suggestion
-
The jump is probably the biggest difference
-
1 ReplyYeah ,i mean all classes have a smoke bomb for melee, all classes can turn invis and flank, all classes can wear knucklehead radar so you always have radar, all classes can use quickfang and be ninja as F, all classes can dodge i to cover for a quick reload jump, all classes have a tethering super that you can lay as a trap to shut other supers off. Needless to say i disagree, i have all three classes too but i don't feel right unless im on my hunter.
-
5 RepliesJust one more reason to despise everything destiny 2 is.
-
So 30 hours being terrible I would assume with the inaccuracy
-
No you're right , there is no class differentiation
-
1 ReplyBruh it's based on playstyle, do you really think one class would be better than the others

Edited by SquattingTurtle: 10/13/2017 12:08:14 AMOh yes. I've been in feedback quite frequently these days. Not to mention my Sunsinger threads over the course of 3 years. One random idea out of the bucket i had, was to decrease the cooldowns of Specfific abilties based on class:
Titans: Melee (an easy one) Hunters: Class ability Dodge (but the dodge needs some love itself, like I frames or somthing) Warlock: Grenade (because they are a caster of sorts)
