Meritocracy Down-Rant Incoming

So, I guess the forums are only good for throwing vomit and trash back at other people, rather than thoughtful critique of the game. But, that’s what I should come to expect from the world today. There’s no player accountability anymore; everyone is right and they all want it now. The day is gone where patience and understanding forego the snide narcissistic trolling that is now accustomed to our respective generations. It used to be enough to just jump in with friends and shoot each other off of Banshee’s and snipe down Blood Gulch lane. Somewhere, we all lost connection to what it means to be gamers. We are supposed to be a community, rallying behind our multiple lives and legendary stories, helping one another to discover the escapism of gaming, and maybe pouring on some salt in those PvP matches. Now it’s all about the player, not the game. “No lifers” have access to the loftiest amounts of playtime, and scream for more product instead of evaluating why they can clear 40 hours of content in two days. “Casual” players get dusted by the surge of ridiculousness surrounding group play, and feel like there is no reason to strive. And the “Try Hards” have been allowed to devolve into pub stomping controller zombies, since any end-game PvP turns into “who wields the Meta” instead of pushing them to progress and improve their skill. And all the while, keyboard warriors jump in to defend indefensible arguments, drowning logic and reason and discussion in a sea of ‘git gud’ and personal attacks. This game isn’t the problem; it’s the player base: people unable to grasp anything from any other point of view, with no logical discourse other than to cry fowl at things outside their control. It’s a game. Those who play it, IMO, do so KNOWING full well what a long standing project like Destiny entails, tempered by the EXPERIENCE, not EXPECTATIONS, of the first 3 years. If you don’t like the game, return it. If you don’t like Bungie/Activisions creative license, play another game. If you loathe this experience, then leave. overprivelaged In America, we had the opportunity to allow the masses the choice. They -blam!-ed up. Don’t let the majority of a disgruntled, over privileged, inane, and disrespectful players ruin this experience. As always, thanks Bungie. Sincerly, Neko.
