We're talking about the phenomenological. The subjective. You can't prove the fact that I hate the taste of Brussel sprouts is wrong. The only "proof" that is ever available insituations like this is to BE that which "proves" the assumption wrong. The current Dalai Lama has spent 60 years watching Communist China try to basically ERASE his native Tibet from existence....and yet you've never heard him advocate for violence, or even speak one angry word toward them. In fact the closest time he ever did was in 1989 after the lethal crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrations in Tienamen Square. He penned a public statement of moral outrage at the deaths of CHINESE citizens at the hands of their own government, at time when there looked like they might be some thawing of thesituation with respect to his own native Tibet. His public condemnation of the Beijing government put an end to that. He literally sacrificed his the chance for greater freedom for Tibet, to take a stand against the abuses of CHINESE citizens by their own government. So yes, it is possible for we humans to evolve past this. The point is that very few people are willing to dedicate their entire LIVES to accomplishing it, as Tenzin Gyatso has done.

  • Yes but that is an individual not a collective. Evolution is the collective/group by definition. Of course it is possible to act and even be more advanced than those around you, but unless that translates to the ones around you over time, it's not evolution and we are not going to find out if it truly is or not in our lifetime. Also you said we were going to ground this discussion to destiny, which calls for two closing arguments for the discussion and all I did was close my side.

  • "The pace of the column is the speed of the slowest soldier." Nothing more. Nothing less. ...and how the individual influences the collective is by the very thing you are criticizing me for. You simply don't endorse, and don't cooperate those "group thinks". Or grounding this in Destiny 2. I don't have to tell someone their' wrong, and that they have to feel differently about the game. But I'm not going to endorse their wish to hold BUNGIE responsible for their feelings, and for how they choose to relate to this game. If you don't like it...fine. But if you don't like, YOU are responsible for how YOU choose to act in response to that. If you choose to do nothing but stand around, complain and feel victimized..... ...its beause you've chosen to do so. Not because Bungie has more power over your life than you do.

No what I was criticizing the fact that you were trying to do it in a place like this with words and phrases that would do nothing but upset most people. People who are angry/ upset tend not to listen to reason and fact. Simple as that. If you want to make a difference, never do it through text and here is why. Can you tell what emotions I am feeling as I write this? Am I upset or calm, am I trying to make a valid argument or am I not even paying attention. It's impossible to tell through text. That is what I my criticism was, yet I never stated it anywhere in our arguments. All I said was in translation was (you're arguing with people over an opinion that they stated and nothing more). I don't know if this was your intention or not, because this is just text not a voice.

  • Who said the point was to change minds? People evolve when they are ready, and they change when doing so serves THEIR needs. And for most people that only happens when the pain of Change becomes less then the pain of remaining the same. The point is that you sometimes have to put BOUNDARIES around other people's "deeply unconscious" behavior: "You may want to rage. You may want to demand its Bungie's job to cater to your every whim, and give you an endless supply of new things to do for $60. You may want to believe that you and what you want are at the Center of the Universe.....' But I'm not going to endorse that view...and I'm sure as hell not going to abandon the field to it. I may not change your mind. In fact I have no expectation that I will. But if you keep bumping your head into the the wall I've thrown up around you. One of two things will happen. You'll come to hate me...and blame me for why you keep hitting your head...and like the situation with Bungie, take no personal responsibility for your negative experience (these are the people who angrily mute me.) Or you'll eventually get tired of hitting your head aginst it....and finally ask yourself, "What happens if I go this way, instead?" Such moments of clarity happen. But they don't happen when the world around you doesn't CHALLENGE you in your self-centered preoccupation. Happened to me once about 10 years ago. I was a regular member of a golf forum that had this political sub-forum. I was constantly getting into fights guys who were---in fact---obnoxious, mean-spirited trolls. Whose first reaction was to insult anyone who disagreed with them. I'd hit back...and the fight was on. One of the forum mods was getting tired of having to constantly clean up these messes, as they would always devolve into a gang of these trolls racing around me like a pack of hyenas. Focused on biting at my heels. So one day he just challenged me in his frustration. I naturally said it wasn't my fault, and they the other guys were always starting it, and I was just defending myself. What he did, was just brush that all aside and stared me down and said, "Why is when these things happen its ALWAYS the other guys fault...and you're always the victim?" He might as well have hit me in the face with an iron skillet. His unwillingness to endorse my victim story finally woke me up to the fact that I was just as responsible in the ESCALATION of these conflicts as thepeople who were starting them. I was responsible because I believed that if I didn't challenge the truth of every nasty thing was being said about me.....some one was going to believe it was true. ...and when I finally realized that's what I'd been thinking...and how INSANE that was. I realized I was reacting to the distant past, and not responding to the present. Who gives a shit if someone random, maladjusted guy on the internet believes I'm the Devil Incarnate? And is telling me I'm the worst, most sickest human being ever. Doesn't make it true...and says more about him than it does about me. Didnt' change how the trolls behaved. But by refusing to endorse my need to feel a victim....he helped me realize I could simply ignore their antics, and walk away. Leaving them looking like the ranting maladjusted people they had always been. Good fences make good neighbors.

  • I believe I have upset you so I apologise. But you didn't pay attention to the part I wanted you to. Honestly I thought you would have caught on to it by now but even when I literally told you, you still somehow missed it. I'm discussing, not arguing. I didn't start this chat expecting any change. If you did then I am sorry, but a discussion to me is the equivalent to the discussion between Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr, when they talked they didn't expect to change anything and they were correct afterwards nothing changed. I just wanted to discuss. I would only take any discussion serious if the person is directly in front of me in real life. This is because through text you cannot understand my meaning. I stated this before in the last message. .

  • Who said I was upset? I simply disagree with you....and you keep finding yourself in awkward positions because you keep assuming things about me that simply are not true. The point is I dont' do these things to change minds. Because you aren't going to change them. You do them because its sometimes necessary to put up FENCES around other people's bad behavior, or deeply unconscious views. Because if you don't....the lowest common denominator in any situation will always wind up controlling the situation. Sometimes you can't stop it.....but that doesn't mean you enable it....or stand by passively while it happens.

  • And you keep miss interpreting what I am saying. I said I believe meaning I don't know but from the information I have concluded blank. Also I have only assumed the upset bit. Yet you said I keep doing it, why. All I have is that through text no one wins and this is the third time I have rephrased it.

  •
All I have is that through text no one wins and this is the third time I have rephrased it.
..and what you keep failing to grasp is that this is NOT about "winning". Its about not letting the LEAST "conscious" element in any group define Reality for everyone else.

  • I am aware of that and have been for years before this conversation hence the reason I gave the Malcom X and Martin Luther King example. I thought you were still trying to win the argument. See this is why I hate having a discussion over text.
