hey peeps, was working on a video for the warlock, giving my thoughts on the subclasses and such...and for the life of me, cannot understand what Bungie was thinking with the devour ability and the bottom tree (Forgot the name of it forgive me). reason being is because you basically cannot die....at all. you can melee an enemy, to start devour, which fills your health instantly per kill, AND refreshes the timer...if that's not bad enough, if shit goes south, NOT TO WORRY! you can just eat your grenade, gain full health, and BOOM...devour timer starts again. and if shit is just not working, you still have a rift if needed, which you really shouldn't need. I feel like this is an overlook, or just plain not thinking about the how powerful this ability is. Does anyone else feel like this needs a change? it's just plain broken.

Every -blam!-ing person who voted yes is a main warlock. InB4 some whiny warlock master race twat says Git Gud, I am average at Destiny. In the upper half, but not a god. Hunters are the mobile class, Titans are the resilient class, Warlocks are the recovery class. Hunters have a dodge. It provides benefits (menial) to only one player and doesn’t prevent damage, only makes user more difficult to kill. Titans have a shield, it blocks all damage and is difficult to outplay when placed by an intelligent player. Makes user immune when behind shield, opponents cannot kill. Warlocks have a rift, it heals at a ridiculous rate and can even grant an overshield. Extremely difficult to counter unless pushed immediately as it is not placed. Hunters: Mobility stat increases.... Titans: Resilience stat increases total health and damage that can be taken. Warlocks: Rate and time before recovery is significantly decreased. Hunter: One super that can’t kill anything because it’s speed is too low, one that lacks armor, and one that is outclassed by a grenade. Titan: Strong Shutdown with speed boosts and two balanced range roamers. Warlock: Strong Shutdown with instaheal, birdman, ticklehands. No explanation needed. Bonus abilities: Hunters: invisability, reduced AA. Titans: Shoulder charge, damage. Warlocks: Devour, midair dodge, ridiculous melee, blink. Devour is ridiculous. Recovery is by far the best stat. The issue isn’t the ability, it’s the class. I rest my case.

Devour is pretty op, but I kinda like it that way. It now gives a reason to not only use stormcallers in pve or pvp. You now have a choice between healing and add clear... or airborne mobility...?

It's one of very few good abilities that actually reset the timer while it's active. Most buffs have to expire before you can trigger them again, so the fact that you can keep it active as long as there are adds around is pretty crazy in comparison.
-
4 RepliesAs a arc Titan you can pick the lower tree plus Skullfort and do essentially the same thing sans a timer.
-
No it balances out voidwalker for having a really lackluster super, they have one really good attribute
-
I think the buff refresh effect should be limited to melee/grenade/super kills and not to weapons. I can easily solo most heroic events using this ability, something I can't do with any other class or subclass.
-
3 RepliesIt's balanced, also how do o eat my grenade. It just saps my super energy and because a better grenade
-
It's balanced
-
No, don't ruin this subclass tree for PvE.
-
Um how bout no, Titan Hunter main
-
Edited by Vortx4: 10/11/2017 3:57:45 AMNo. It is not. Buff other classes instead. Devour is a crappier version of Embrace the Void. If something worse than D1 is the best thing in D2 then we have a problem.
-
Idk. Call me crazy here, but isn't the whole idea behind the warlock "space magic " idk I've always kind of looked at my wArlock as Geralt from witcher 3. Prob a crazy comparison.

14 RepliesIt's my favorite Voidwalker class tree. I can solo heroic events with Devour up the entire time. 👌

Alot of things need buffs before we start asking for nerfs
-
Buff other insted of nerfing
-
if it gets nerfed for PvP then it gets nerfed for PvE. another non fun class for PvE. if it wasn't for orpheus rig and devourer class tree and mask of the quite one, I would have quit this soulless game after the 1st week
-
2 Repliesno nerfing needs to occur for ANYTHING buff the things that need to be buffed and leave the things that are powerful powerful cause nothing and i mean nothing in the game is gamebreaking
-
I'm curious, were you that guy at school that would remind the teacher she forgot to assign homework over the weekend?...j/k I have yet to fully develop my Warlock yet, but I think that the ability should be fine as is. If someone playing a Warlock feels it is too easy because of that ability they can choose not to use it to make it more challenging.
-
1 ReplyHate that tree I prefer attunement of chaos
-
nah. devour is fine as is.
-
1 Reply-blam!- YOU.
-
3 RepliesNah, it’s fine as is.. because, though very powerful, if you botch the timing even slightly, you’re dead. So it requires a bit of skill on the players part to maintain. Also, I agree with everyone about not calling for nerfs, the constant nerfing and re-tuning of skills and weapons really made Destiny 1 a shitty game at times, we need to adapt and learn how to overcome these skills and weapons on our own, instead of demanding Bungie wreck everything so we don’t have to put any effort into playing.

11 RepliesNo this is a game about space warriors abilities should be powerful whats the point in playing a game where everything is boring why is this even something to complain about you should love having powerful abilities thats half the reason this game is boring as is all the lackluster powers and weapons.
