Technically it still turns on, but it won't play games or open apps anymore.
It started yesterday when it said my External HDD was not connected. I didn't think much of it, but Netflix and other video streaming apps took forever to launch. They did eventually work though. As did Rocket League and Wildlands.
Today I got more messages about my external HDD not being connected/corrupted and I tried to play Rocket League and it won't load at all even though that's on my INTERNAL HDD. It just freezes on the splash screen. Nothing loads, and it even takes forever to turn off/restart. It won't reformat my external drive either. It's useless.
I booted it up in safe mode and refreshed the database, or whatever it's called. I'm hesitant to reset to factory settings right now.
Anything I can do besides calling Sony?

Same happened to me about 3 months ago, had to send it in to be fixed. You can try backing up and resetting it to factory and rebuilding it but that only worked initially for me. Week afterwards it started acting up, resulting in me sending it in. Took them a month to get it back to me, and it's fine now.
