I am not someone that likes to tell people what they should use or how they should play but please, if you're a Voidwalker main in D2 hear me out. Xur is currently offering an exotic helmet for Warlocks called Nezarec's Sin. It's exotic perks reads as follows:
Abyssal Extractors - Void-damage kills increase ability energy recharge rate.
Did you notice it? This perk uses very specific wording. Typically when a perk is activated by ability kills of a certain type it will read "...void ability kills..." but this one reads "Void-damage kills...". The implication being that weapons that deal void damage count as well. The other implication is that if void weapons count it should, theoretically, work for the other Warlock subclasses as well.
Long story short, it's like having Army-of-One or Grenadier back.
If you want to get as close to a D1 Voidwalker experience in D2 as currently possible this is how you do it. I really hate that this is how things are right now but that's just the way it is until Bungie makes some serious changes to how we use abilities in D2.
"He is that which is an end. And he shall rise again." -passage from Of Hated Nezarec, a pre-Golden Age text.
3 RepliesNezarec's Sin is good but personally i prefer Skull of Dire Ahamkara for my Voidwalker.

1 ReplyWhen I'm on my Voidwalker, I prefer to use the Karnstein Armlets, and to use the skill tree that gives you Devour. That way you can keep hitting enemies for ability and suer charge, and you'll never lose much health because Devour will just keep coming back through the kills and abilities. But Nezarec would definitely be my second choice.

1 ReplyIt looks gorgeous in gold as well.

I didn't even notice that much of a difference, certainly not enough to pigeon hole all my damage output.

1 ReplyI've been running this build for a while and it works wonders. It takes no time at all to recharge a grenade when devour is active and you're melting thrall with Uriel's Gift. It's even better when you get multi kills with a charged up scatter grenade or nova bomb. That all being said, it pigeon-holes you into only using void weapons, AND requires you to be constantly slaying for maximum benefit. Much like the devour perk, it can get frustrating when running group activities and you're getting your kills stolen. All in all Nezerec's is a really good helm, but it gets tiresome at times. Having a Skull of Dire Ahamkara in the wing is always a good choice in case you want to free up your loadout.

I prefer the armlets. melee smacks give back energy for all abilities and health back.
-
It's sad that it is the best choice.
-
I have been useing it for a while it is alright but not great.
-
Or you could use the skull of Dire Ahamkara, which is Destiny 1 obsidian mind... Works just as well as it did in D1 too.

2 RepliesThis is one exotic I've wanted since day one. Yes, I was kind of looking forward to grinding for it but I'm perfectly happy xurning it.
-
1 ReplyIts stylish. Im liking them horns. Who cares about stats and perks man.
-
It can be seriously awesome when used with the Attunement of Hunger because if you can keep killing adds, you can refill your health infinitely. Its way OP if you also add the Rat King.
-
3 RepliesGot from drops a few times, its nice but im currently using skull of dire ahamkara. Fun to have obsidian mind back lol
-
I as a devoted void walker, second this motion.
-
Sorry, that would require me to take off Winter's Guile. And I'm having way too much fun out-punching titans during public events and 1 or 2-hitting yellow bars with a simple slap :)
-
in pvp if you have a void power and a void energy and you're somewhat decent you'll get another super from it, but you'll definitely get a couple more grenades from it (i'm sure you'd get some more melee's from it but since it takes 3 punches to kill anyone that part isn't worth it).

2 RepliesAs a voidwalker main I definitely picked this one up from xur. I haven't played with it much except in PvP, but I'll probably slap it on tonight to see how it holds up in my everyday PvE wanderings. I gotta say though, gonna be hard for me to give up winters guile, that 5x melee damage modifier is beast mode when combined with melee devour that grants health. My goodness I can go all hulk mode with that combination.

I just started my warlock tonight and I bought two - one to wear, and one for 265 infusion fuel on the first legendary helmet I get to drop.

7 RepliesEdited by Pocket Fox: 10/7/2017 5:03:09 AMI don't even have a Warlock yet and I bought it, lol. I figured the same as you, that kills with void weapons counted. However, please understand that by "ability", it means the same as your paragon armor mods. It's just the rift ability, not the grenade and melee.
