I know this crucible works off p2p (which is horrible for pvp) and that would be fine if it had a regional lock, but it don't so why does it not show people's ping? Does the game actually look at people's ping behind the scene when it says evaluating guardians? I would like to see both my ping as well as others, is there a way to know?

1 ReplyEdited by Stari: 10/8/2017 11:14:26 AMI know for 100% that Destiny's matchmaking doesn't look at Pings. If it would, then i wouldn't be matchmaked with players that see me at least one second earlier. Yesterday i was playing the Raid and a player from the USA was doing the countdown. On my screen there were 3 seconds left and i heard him say 4. (i'm from Europe) So his voice and the timer on my screen were not synchronised and there was at least one second delay. But the players in the USA heard him correctly. This is exactly what is also happening in PvP.

Yeah would be a lot more fun if it had decided servers, I grow tired of my bullets not registering

Because with intercontinental matchmaking pings are going to be sky high.

to be fair a lot of people abused the ability to see people’s connections in d1 crucible. if someone died to anything other than a full green bar they would blame it on the lag, even if the person wasn’t actually lagging at all.

I used a netduma in D1, had to switch back to my netgear for D2 due to constant cabbage errors with the netduma router. Anyway, even with a range limitation of 1,000 miles the pings in D1 were terrible. Best pings during matches were usually in the 40-50 ms range. But I have seen 900+ ms pings. And it was common to have people in matches with 300-500 every game.

Because we complained about red bars in Destiny. Now they hide that from us. Bungie are cool!

On pc I'm sure they have apps that they can run while playing but on console idk. Perhaps there are mobile apps that can display this data but that's counterproductive as having your tables wifi on while pvping would just cause more lag

Hmm, let me think.....hmmmm, money. Yep that's it, no one gives a shit. Money. DLC ping.
-
Because if it showed people's ping it would be terrible and people would realize Destiny is terrible lol

because they don't want you to see how shitty someone else's connection is. they used to have that in D1 (it was green/yellow/red) but people realized how much the red bars were getting over on them and complained. Rather than fixing that, bungie got rid of the detection tool.

Agreed Ping and connection details like other games. Also region lock!
