For the people who play a lot of competitive crucible and trials (mostly trials) you know that you almost never find a game where there isn't a MIDA Multitool being used. it is impossible to deny that its versatility, accuracy/time to kill at range and Bungie's choice to add back high caliber rounds after removing it once to balance the gun (no offense Bungo) may need some slight adjusting. However the gun alone isn't the problem, its when you have four sitting as far away as they can hitting you with team shots. This problem with MIDA is more of a play style issue, where players have the ability to sit as far away as the can to team shot. Most of the people i've talked to about this have said "nerf that shit into the ground" or "you cant change someones choice of play style". Personally I don't think you need to nerf the gun into the ground or possibly not change it at all. Originally I despised that the MIDA returned and this meta was ruining the game for me but after looking at why it was such a problem I can confidently say that removing Countdown from Trials of the Nine would help significantly. for the people who played Trials of Osiris you know that it was an elimination game mode that ended by killing the enemy team or by capturing the central point if time ran out. Keeping the game mode primarily based around getting picks as a group and capitalizing on your advantage made it so you could rotate and play the map any way you chose. You could play any angle or move to any side as a team or on your own. This allowed for people to move to areas that were more advantageous to their play style. Countdown Forces players to play the map on vertical straights and move to either objective, this gives players the chance to sit behind the objectives and shoot at the advancing enemies. Keeping them from freely rotating to any part of the map to change angles or gun fight position. I personally think that the biggest fix without ruining the very poplar exotic weapon would be the removal of this game mode from trials however I have a few other ideas as to why MIDA is the meta.
More fix ideas below, if you just want to call me an idiot or correct my spelling or grammar might as well go do it now :)
One is guardians are now slow as all hell, they can no longer Warlock or Titan "skate" and Hunters no longer have the powerful forward boost of the increased control jump. This makes it so guardians are forced to try and peek the MIDA users who stay way in the back instead of being able to push up to cover or even just close the distance between you and the enemy efficiently to make the gunfight more advantageous to your play style.
The final idea I had which i assume will be highly controversial, honestly i'm still not sure how i feel about this idea, is to lock of certain weapon types based on the map or game mode for the week. For example, if its a long ranged map and countdown they could lock of Scout Rifles for the week, or it its a medium range with few close or ranged lines of sight you could lock of auto rifles.
