They are playing like you should. The crucible is to encourage team work. Not just running around by yourself shooting everyone else doing the same thing. I don't see why so many don't see this and complain about it. I am mainly a solo player but even when playing crucible with random (I rarely play crucible) I try to follow someone else. One time we all followed each other and we dominated. The next round I got matched with those who had no concept of team work at all and we got dominated. Again, the crucible is to encourage teamwork and that's what those who team shoot are doing. Kudos to them!

Its no fun to team shoot, its more fun if you can wipe a whole team on your own :) I got my solo tactics and if my random team uses the same route as me, its just a bonus. Ofcourse you sometimes gotta adjust to the match when your opponents are really tuff, then i stay close to my team or use my team as bait and go around.

How dare these insignificant people play a team oriented game mode as a team i mean come one WTF Logic and commonsense folks at it's finest, the human race is in serious trouble people!!

If the TTK was faster I could pick away at a 2v1 or 3v1 and drop someone before they run off scared, hide, recover, and have the other teammates push in to sweep me up.

15 RepliesThis is obviously what is intended in the meta in D2. What irritates people however, me included, is this is an extremely low skill, low maintenance, highly accessible and mostly highly effective way to play. In D1, a good player on their own could semi-comfortably take on 2-3 people. In D2's balance, that is practically a foregone conclusion. I saw a comment further down saying that this is just another thing to accommodate casuals rather than skilled players, which I'm gonna have to agree with.

5 RepliesEdited by PhreshBrotha: 10/9/2017 8:20:00 PMThe issue I have is that there is little to no counter to team shooting other than team shooting with your teammates. This is easier said than done especially when playing solo. In D1 you had a better chance at fighting off an ambush without necessarily having to run away. Grenades were stronger, weapons overall were stronger, and abilities recharged faster. Shit, I remember getting triple kills with my Hawksaw and Doctrine of Passing. I remember being able to throw a fusion at one guy and then gunning down another. One of my favorite strategies as a Titan was a well-placed Lightning Grenade. You could easily wipe 2-3 people with good timing and accuracy. Or you could just use your super and clear a couple players. Now? Abilities take way too long to recharge and even when they do, they suck. Escaping a group of people when surrounded is damn near impossible, and the maps are so spread out that by the time you find one teammate the other two are dead. This may sound like I’m asking for crutches but ask yourself; wouldn’t you like to know you stand a chance at holding your own against 2-3 enemies? Wouldn’t you like to be able to stay in a fight instead of running away to find your teammates? To me, the current PVP isn’t fun anymore. I miss how mindless D1’s PVP was.

1 ReplyEh, it's not really teamwork when there's zero coordination needed. Just clump together and win ggez

Agreed the Crucible dynamic has totally changed, those who don't bend to its new ways will lose am just get pissed, then spend all their time complaining about it.

38 RepliesWhy should pvp encourage team work? There should be a balance between team work and running around. Nobody should be forced to play a certain way. If pvp encourages team work, it immediately becomes harmful for solo players and is way too reliant on camping.

Buying a 4 person tent at rei and camping with three other dudes isn't teamwork
is gay porn
Edited by MuzikFreq: 10/12/2017 8:42:23 PMWhen the enemy is team shooting it's best if 1 person or sometimes 2 people split and flank to break their team up and can grant easy kills. -EDIT- I regret saying this... Suddenly the game seems to have gotten tougher.

3 RepliesDo people not realize you can use teamwork without team shotting? I mean I've played competitive games since halo 3. I was for a while top 500 in the world at search and destroy in black ops 3. The PvP in its current state is absolute trash and is literally the worst multiplayer I've ever played. That simple. I'm not salty I just can't believe you people act like you've reinvented the wheel with this "teamwork" junk. Have any of you idiots ever wondered why mlg does not exist for destiny? Well the answer is because the shit is NOT a competitive game. You have constant radar, guns with constant radar, team wiping super abilities, grenades that are leagues better than others, healing rifts, the list goes on. This game will never work as a competitive game because it was never meant to be that. For this game to be a real competitive shooter, it would no longer be destiny and be pretty much halo. It's trash, get over it.

I enjoy team shooting. I do not enjoy team camping.

i enjoy team shooting, i enjoy playing with my team and actually winning by the OBJECTIVE. this is what other shooters lack. i played tons of domination on call of duty and i couldnt stand to see my team only go for kills and captures. D2 allows for teamwork, no matter what the game mode i have played. i’ve played with people who actually work on the objective and i am enjoying it

I'm not sure the correct term is "playing like you should" rather than "playing like you have to". In D1 there were plenty of weapons (read "special" weapons) that could one-shot kill. Snipers, shotguns, fusion rifles, etc - as well as special abilities - grenades, shoulder charge, etc. In D2 we only get one shot kills a couple times per match when the power ammos falls. For the rest of the match you are running around with 2 primary weapons - one with a burn and one without (does not matter when you don't have elemental shields). Those kinetic and energy weapons have a significant time to kill (TTK). If you encounter a group of enemy and you are solo, their combined firepower overwhelms that of an individual - in other words their TTK to kill you is significantly shorter than your TTK any one of them. As far as special abilities go, other than the supers you had better hope the opponent does not have full health when you melee, shoulder charge, or grenade. So if you are not playing "team kill", then your team is doomed to fail. You can't lone wolf it any longer. If you are hiding, camping, and only killing to improve your KDR, then your teammates will hate and report you. It is a sad state of affairs and it is Bungie effectively telling us how we are supposed to play. Other than the weekly call to arms milestone for gear to help me reach max power, I refuse to participate. I will do IB if my clan needs me, but otherwise the promise of only new gear and no power level advantage makes it virtually worthless.

6 RepliesEdited by CannyJack: 10/8/2017 8:40:58 PMYup. It's not like D1, and basically, if you want to win games then you need to adapt to the way these games are won. I don't always like it; I liked having my occasional Solo Hero moments, but it's just the way it works for now. Winning matches is the only goal now, so you need to play in a way that wins (or, alternatively, be content with losing). Until they make some alterations (assuming they ever do), it's play this way and win, play another way and lose, or skip PvP and wait to see what they do with it.
-
Agreed. Bungie made significant design changes to PROMOTE and reward that kind of play. Now whether or not individual players ENJOY that kind of play or not, is grounds for legitimate debate. But the notion that people who are team shooting need to be "shamed" or are some how "ruining" the game is pretty silly, and pretty childish.

Couldn't agree more with the OP. In real life or the game, if you and two friends face one guy down a straight alley, and all four of you have similarly powerful guns, and you can all hit a target, the solo's going down. Of course. If you're smart, and sneaky, and you get above the alley where three guys are waiting for you, and you drop a rocket with cluster bombs on them, well, you have a good chance of mopping them up. Strategy still counts, it's just a different strategy. Teamwork is the killer though, and I find that farrrr more fun than solo heroics. But then, I'm not 14 years old.

6 RepliesA good player should have the tools available to them to outplay a group of potatos. LIKE IN D1 Instead the group of potatos spraying auto rifles down a hallway have a massive advantage. It's not an opinion it's a fact that d2 crucible is slower and much more one dimensional with a much lower skill gap than D1. If you want to argue against that I can provide plenty of evidence and supporting points to my arguement, and I'm sure the only rebuttal I will hear will be some nonsense about "ability spam and cheap OHK"

You are absolutely correct, check out our drang challenge. By using a simple sidearm and Teamplay we we're able to beat the current mida/uriels gift meta :)

1 ReplyAnd that’s why we have fire teams

2 RepliesDon't know about the rest of you, but I like someone having my back in a gun fight.
-
Well, if -blam!-ing Bungie would’ve left Rumble in we wouldn’t be bitching so much.
-
I agree. I also can't understand why people don't complain in Overwatch about "team shooting"... It is the same principle (besides classes and MOBA) that you teamshoot enemies for winning the fight...
-
1 ReplyDamn rights that's how you should play. All these little rules that players think other players should play by are stupid. "Bungie should make a code that prevents one player from following another player" pffft Winning is fun. Losing sucks. I pvp solo and with a bud. And we follow anyone that is close or abandon fire fights if we're alone to run to our teammates because backs need covering and if don't have a back then you're gonna be lying on yours.
