Just tried the post raid armsdealer strike and it just pissed me off big time. Make the game hard - ok, make it very hard - ok too. But dońt stress people. It has to be possible to play the game at your own speed. Finished the raid so now the game is pointless, massive waste of time anyway.

I feel like the majority of these arguments pertaining to Time Limits have no idea what the words Difficulty, Game, and Fun mean.

1 ReplyI gave this week's Prestige NF a chance without resorting to cheesing it, and it is just idiotic how that timer does nothing but force people to avoid gunfights. In order to even get to the boss with a reasonable amount of time remaining, you literally need to run past any enemies not protecting a door or blocking your way to the next area. That is not adding difficulty: it is defeating the purpose of a FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. And then you get streamers like Datto cupping Bungie's balls as they praise them for "making Nightfalls difficult" because people can not hang back and, you know, clear rooms...with guns...like you do in FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS...

Go get smashed in Trials. I wanna finish listening to you cry bout that haha.

1 ReplyI hate the timed nightfall and I am not doing them. I play D2 to have fun and the timer is definitely not fun.
-
Yep I agree. I'm all for a challenge but for a time limit challenge I think is stupid. Okay so let's try and run past as much as we can? That's so stupid. Why not add a challenge you actually have to work your way through, not just try and run by.
-
I would prefer an increased number of enemies / elite enemies to the point where you're running low on ammo instead of a timer. Make it an absolute war to get through a nightfall. It provides a challenge without the stress of failing because you weren't sprinting past enemies fast enough. I've completed all the NF's besides the first week (didn't own the game yet). They're not bad, the timer's are certainly annoying, but I would definitely prefer to have way more enemies to fight through rather than rushing through it trying to beat the clock.

bump. the timers are stupid

2 RepliesEdited by Dcblind: 10/6/2017 6:15:58 PMI soloed that so if you are having a problem it sounds like the player not the game. That is without the max time glitching crap too. Instead of dumbing down the game you should just get better at playing it.
-
1 ReplyFun, that's your problem. This is a job.
-
3 Repliesyou can actually take your time on that strike just shoot the anomalies after clearing the room should have 7-8 mins on the clock for the boss fight even killing every ad on the way also I like the timer adds a challenge while forcing me to play slightly aggressive and still be smart about it

60 RepliesEdited by Smough: 10/5/2017 4:07:32 PMI thought nightfalls (and other activities with time limits) were supposed to be difficult, not fun.

I stopped doing Nightfall. I agree, not fun at all. Two things I hate most in video games. Escort missions & timed missions. Bungie sucked the fun out of Nightfall.

That was prestige? Prestige seems not much harder than normal“ suddenly on normal we made it and I even got my ratking quest done. Really strange - is it possible that there is something wrong with the difficulty settings?

Edited by mikes5673: 10/6/2017 12:04:15 PMAgree. The obvious compromise would be to have the timer version of the Nightfall for those players who seem to enjoy what is basically Sparrow Racing without the bikes, but make the Prestige version 300 with more enemies and a guaranteed luminous engram at the end, available once a week, per character. By all means chuck in a time challenge which could give a guaranteed exotic if achieved, but not end the strike if you come up short. Nightfall was one of the D1 activities which wasn't broken in the first place (just not updated for months) but Bungie decided to fix it anyway. And broke it in the process.

3 RepliesI'm guessing you have snipers to thank for the time limit. "Lets sit back where the AI can't reach us and take forever finishing the strike while exposing ourselves to no risk" It was a problem even in regular strike playlists where some players would hang back and take forever to deal with every encounter, slowing things down immensely. Time limits probably aren't the best way to deal with this, but I can't think of many other ways to prevent this kind of exploitative play.

Timers are lazy, artificial difficulty..anyone who says different is a blind fanboy.

Edited by Khorick: 10/6/2017 10:15:25 AMI can remember Nightfall being so difficult that you had to hide. Rockets McDickface anyone? So Bungie changed the Nightfall so you didn't get sent back to orbit but restarted. Nightfall became just a strike with some modifiers. Bungie now adds timers. I have done 2 of them and I didn't see the difficulty in them. Just a weird why am I jumping through hoops literally and why am hunting for anomalies? I get that the Nightfall has to have difficulty. I want it to have difficulty. Once my stepdaughter is geared up we plan on running it and the raid weekly. I just don't see the timer mechanic being the right answer. It's the mechanic in place so ok, hopefully Bungie had other mechanics in mind or in place soon. My personal favorite will always be oh you wiped back to orbit to start from the beginning. I don't also understand the calling Bungie lazy by adding the timer mechanic. Lazy would be just leaving the Nightfall as is from the end of D1 to D2. They tried something. Do I agree with all their design decisions? No; however I also don't agree with all the design decisions in Horizon Zero Dawn but I still enjoy the game. I was a D1 alpha player that stopped short of ROI because I burnt myself out. If D2 gets me to the point of insulting other people that disagree with anyone voicing their opinion than I will just go find another game. Mostly everyone here is here to have fun. Lets all keep that in mind. This is in no way directed at the OP.

3 RepliesEdited by Soldierofpie: 10/5/2017 8:32:48 PMDo you not have people to do it with? Try getting a fireteam together to help with it online. Make some friends and whatnot. I assume this is the case because the arms dealer strike is easy unless your trying to solo it. I did it with my clan mates and finished it with a little over 10 minutes left.

Take a piece of painter's tape and place it over the timer.
-
Time limit is a cancer, I can’t even complete the strike mission by myself!
-
Yeah that one was not fun one bit.....

3 RepliesAgreed, as a casual (play about 1-2 hours as day) about 5 days a week. I can say I don't like having to do homework to enjoy a game. Ok we're going to take an hour to run through memorize where all the time anomalies are or hoops to jump through (literally) Then we will finally get to the game. Or go to lfg join up, get asked if I know where all the anomalies are. Nope, I don't have time to do homework before I play a game. Oh ok......kicked. And don't even ask how much homework is required before you even think of joining this new raid. D1 I enjoyed the nightfalls and raids (kings fall not so much) but D2 I don't have time/nor do I want to do hours of homework before playing a game.

It has to be possible to play the game at your own speed.
Can't do Public Events, Raids, Crucible at your own speed. Why should the Nightfall be different?

Time Limits are not about making something hard..... its a freaking arbitrary auto-shutoff of a Game Over type of game..... Imagine in the good old days Arcade gaming had time limits (except racing games). Game was over when you got killed :) not when a clock said time over.... Anyhow Timers are not fun the Majority of players wants to have fun and not an unrealistic challenge and unrealistic game play. The majority of players is not hording engrams, racing and glitching to get high power and then brag later ohh this is all so easy ...... -blam!- yeah do the night fall as a 240 !!!!!!!! See how much fun you have !! Go in there as a team of 240 !! This is not a game its juts waste of time . Bungie needs to understand that it is about having Fun, live is hard and challenging enough..... playing Destiny is for fun and relaxation. Make TIMERS optional for the dummies who need it ... make it even adjustable let them set their timers to 1 second so they can die instantly and be happy in not reaching the goal. For the Majority of users remove this -blam!-ing timers and let us play this game like we could in D1 there I did Nightfall every week...now it is not possible anymore...

Time limit is not hard, its a fake challenger, that not add any challenge, just a knowledge how to skip most of it, not skill. You can pick up the easiest game ever made, add some absurde timer and call it a challenge. And to all "was it fun, camping behind cover and sniping for hours?", replacing 1 fail design, with something worse is not the answer. In Destiny games you always get attacked from the front, never from behind, no ambushes, no vertical warfare. Everything rushing to you from left, right, and front, that is just a fail design. In other games you get attacked from everywhere. Try to camp in Doom and snipe everything to death, try it, you get destroyed in seconds!

4 RepliesEdited by Unbrandedpie: 10/5/2017 7:56:26 PMYou miss camping back and killing one enemy at a time don't you???
Believe it or not you can easily complete the nightfalls even on prestige with plenty of time left. All you need are two fully functioning hands...
