I seriously doubt they can handle it.
My game almost locks up during a damn glimmer drill public event. If we threw in hundreds of enemies on top of that, it would explode my console.

Yeah, that and for some reason others (not as bad) When I’m standing on the pile of glimmer with 3 or 4 folks and we are shooting coil shots, throwing supers, etc. the game almost grinds to a halt

Ooh a real life heroic challenge - can you defeat the glimmer drill before your console explodes?! That's a rush, right there. Don't tell Bungie, it'll be a paid feature in the next DLC.
