Hi ther
Ever since D1 i wondered what the cabal were and their motivations other than "kill murder stab boom"
And D2... well did not help with my questions. What is it like on their home planet? Is it an absolute monarchy? is it a military junta? a semi-democracy? Or is there just a coup-de-tat every Second tuesday of the month.
what determines if they are small (regular legionaries) or Absolutely massive (Gaul or other cabal bosses)
And what the actual hell are psions? WHY DO THEY HAVE THAT ANNOYING PULSE WAVE?
So ya if you can tell me what you guise know (or scream at me for being an idiot and not paying attention to bungies 'wonderful' writing)
Cheers, Cloudy

I can tell you that it is refrenced in the lore that the female cabal may have tusks, and their home planet has a high atmospheric pressure, and it has a tropical climate.

10 RepliesEdited by Grimlock_205: 10/9/2017 3:39:41 PMI'm just here to stop by and tell you that all your questions have been answered in D2. It's quite a lot and I don't feel like answering them here. But here are a few easy ones to answer: 1. The cabal government has changed throughout the years. At first it was run by the Praetorate. These were ruthless military leaders. Then Calus showed up, freed the oppressed people, overthrew the Praetorate, and declared himself emperor. Surprisingly, the people loved him and he seems to have been a decent guy. He has his flaws though, which include greed and cruelty towards his enemies. Essentially, if your on his good side you'll live a life of wealth. If your on his bad side... When he overthrew the Praetorate he kicked a guy named "the Consul" off his seat of power. He neutered and exiled him. The Consul is important, for he is the catalyst of Calus' downfall. Tons of time passes. Calus leads the Cabal empire into prosperity. He absorbs several species into his empire, including the psions. An orphaned albino boy is presumably sold into some form of slavery, for he participates in the gladitorial pits.(gladiators were slaves in Rome. I'm assuming it's the same for the cabal.) The boy is exceptional at fighting. Calus loves watching him and eventually takes him under his wing. He raises him to become a Primus(a general). This child's name is Ghaul. The Consul had been raising Ghaul and spreading his hate for Calus into the young boy. The fact that he fought and killed people as a gladiator for Calus' entertainment probably reinforced his hatred. So over the years the Consul and Ghaul planned a Coup. They eventually followed through with their plans and exiled Calus. Ghaul declared himself "Dominus", saying the age of emperors was over. Ghaul became a dictator in a miltary society. 2. Psions are one of many races incorporated into the empire. They are traditionally slaves. Though Calus did plan on freeing them, but was exiled before he could. They are used as auxiliary forces in the Cabal legions. They have incredible psionic abilities(they can use their mind to affect the world. Think of the force and you'll get the picture.) An example of this is when some psions literally ripped Phobos from its orbit and positioned it closer to Mars' surface. 3. I don't remember the cabal homeworlds name, but it is referenced in D2. 4. If you want to know about the cabal military structure, search up some videos on YouTube. But the basic command structure is this: Evocate General> Primus > Valus > Val > Bracus > Centurion > legionary. Val's replace Valus' when they are killed. Edit: After Ghaul became dominus, he apparently reformed the empire into a republic. See that as you will.

9 RepliesBrush up on Roman history. Cabal lore follows it almost to a T.

Well we have some hints about their planet when ever we pop their helmets off we basically depressuriz them so to cabal our gravity is dealt so they must have higher gravity on their home planet. As for government well it’s basically like the Roman Empire In general the entire species gives Roman vibes with legionnaires, phalanxes, centurions, colouss and of course emperor

Answer: potatoes

The Cabal are secretly Gungans who split off form the rest and found a planet far away from the terrible prequel reboots

The black goo you see when you blast these space turtles is fluid used to pressurize their suits. Their homeworld has high gravity which explains their stocky appearance.

The Cabal are self-aware space turds. Really, it's all there in the game.

Space turtles duh

5 RepliesFrom D1 they told us they are highly militarized, and that they blow up planets just for getting in their way. Asking why are they bigger is like asking why you are smaller ( I may be taking that to literally if I am let me know) I don't know what a psion is so that's still a mystery.

apart from being space turtles that suck at base security, nothing

cabal are the ninja turtle's offspring, now angry and in space lmao

5 RepliesThe only thing that determines if something is bigger in the destiny universe is if it is a boss. That's really it lol, they can try to justify it all they want. They would do well to actually come up with some different ideas for bosses for that reason.

3 RepliesSo from what we know the cabal have a military ruled government. The cabal we have seen consist of two species: psions and cabal. It seems as if the psions are sort of enslaved by the cabal, but the psions as a species are extremely intelligent. Male and female cabal can be distinguished by the female’s tusks.

7 RepliesThere seem to be multiple races in the Cabal. Though perhaps it's variations of one race. Maybe D1 grimoire got into this. But as far as the main species, legionaries etc, I have always taken them to be akin to giant frogs. In D1, I believed that they needed special breathing apparatus because our atmosphere was different from theirs. But in D2, we spend a lot of time inside their large space ships, and there's the same "leaking colored stuff" when we kill them, so maybe it's something else. As for why bosses are giant ... that's just how Destiny rolls. The only exceptions I can think of have been the three yellowbar psions in the D1 strike, and witches. (I refuse to call them wizards. They are clearly witches.)

The word Cabal means a group on conspirators. It's likely a change in leadership occurs when a faction or group in the cabal kill the present leader and take his place. Sort of like the Orcs in Shadow of Mordor.
