I've been a player since year one and this question has been pissing me off for a really long time, and i mean... our ghost kind of gives it away at the start of destiny 2, but is it really just our destiny to die and be reborn as a guardian to protect the last city? It just feels like there should be more of a meaning behind it than that, and i wish that bungie would actually acknowledge, or at least go more in-depth in explaining it.

I'm just waiting for the cliche ending where the Traveler is really evil and our Guardians have to sacrifice themselves to stop it for good, and that's our "Destiny".

Would be nice if there was A... meaning, but there isnt. Protecting the city is our limit. It takes so long to kill other guardians in the crucible that we need help to do so points to the fact we've become ineffective at our role. Maybe all our revivals from beyond the grave has left us with a lot less brain cells. Luckily our next batch of enemies are heading our way too. D3 ftw.....

Edited by Krinjax: 10/5/2017 2:48:20 AMHonestly, it's probably just a name they thought sounded good for a game. Thinking about it though, if you are to assume there's meaning to it, they're probably trying to convey your particular character being chosen by Ghost or the Traveler; this pretty much goes for all Guardians not just the "main" Guardian. Basically, it was your character's destiny that lead to their death to then become a Guardian.
