I had 1 character in each faction, so regardless I was going to get 1 cheap weapon and 2 expensive ones.

This tactic just guarantees you can get the winning weapon for cheap. If you play all characters equally, you will not be contributing towards the winning of any specific one. If there's a specific one you want. Roll 2-3 deep on it.

No...that's not how it works. You get 1 weapon...whoever wins. The price is decided if you sided with them or not.
