I was just thinking about something. The Guardians are immortal warriors of light, constantly defending the city from the Darkness and acomplishing feats that might as well be mythological folklore. Some Guardians have permanently etched their names into history, and these legendary Guardians that even are worthy of our respect are revered above all else (Guardians such as the Vanguard, Lord Saladin, Lord Shaxx, and others). Since Guardians like Saladin have existed for hundreds of years and will most likely continue to live for hundreds of years more, it'd make sense to me that the people in the city would worship them as deities, the Tower being the equivalent of Mount Olympus.
On mount olympus there were hundreds to thousands of unnamed deities, but only a few primary ones, familiar gods like Zeus, Hates, Aphrodite, ect. We the players would be nunbered as the unnamed deities, but still containing divinity. The Traveler stands above all others, it brought prosperity to humanity and gave it's life to protect us. The Traveler created us to do what it cant anymore, protect humanity, and so we are literally an extension of the Traveler, the proxy for Light, and though we dont contain as much power as the Traveler we still stand watch in it's stead.
What do y'all think?

Better comparison would be Einherjar, the dead warriors brought to valhalla to fight die and be reborn for eternity until the final battle at the end of the world.

3 RepliesDemigods. Ghaul shows us what we could become upon death, Light made manifest. Our Ghosts chokes our Light, keeping us weak and specialized. Who do you think erased our memories? Anyone notice that Ghaul: 1. Didn’t need a Ghost to revive him and 2 he lost no memory when he revived himself? So we are made to soldiers, our memories are wiped to help facilitate that function and our Ghost keeps us in chains.

4 RepliesNo, because God’s come back every three days, and we come back in three seconds.

I think Guardians are more along the lines of Adeptus Astartes. We are super powered humans, but still just humans. The best way to look at it, Guardians are just tools, nothing more nothing less.

Demi- gods? If you consider that Hercules was a born Demi-god, and only through hardships and labors, was only acknowledged after proving him self. I personally believe we are more in line with servants or “heroic spirits.” (Fate series reference) we did something in our past life to come back as these powerful beings of light. The only deference is that compared to FATE’s servants, we weren’t powerful until after we died. Unless you’re Gilgamesh in which you cheat death and continue to be a dick face. (Nerdy talk over)

2 RepliesEdited by MAD X H0USE: 9/30/2017 5:46:32 AMThe closest Guardians actually come to being Gods is when we defeated Oryx. Oryx was the nearest thing to a God our Galaxy had ever seen. His control over the powers of The Deep granted to him upon the Tablets of Ruin from The Deep itself, allowed him to do a number of Godly things. •Near immortality outside his Throne Realm •Ability to "Take" creatures and bend their will to his own •Ability to reform his physical body into any shape at-will •Near infinite amount of physical and magical power •Ability to travel between dimensions Well before the height of Oryx's power, he slew one of the Great Worms, Akka. In his conversation with Akka, it was very specifically stated that Akka dared not speak a lie, for it may become the truth. The masters of the power of The Deep can literally speak matter, fact, and the laws of the universe into or out of existence. THAT is the extent of their power. We killed Oryx. By the Logic of the Sword, we would absorb his power and become EVEN MORE powerful than Oryx. Unfortunately, as vessels of the Light, we cannot tap into the true potential of the powers of The Deep, but theoretically: The fireteam that defeated Oryx would conceivably be the most powerful group of beings in the Universe, with the exception of Xivu Arath, Savathun, and the remaining worm Gods. Then there's the Traveler.

3 RepliesI mean...im sure the traveler is a cosmic being...god "like" should I say...and technically were extensions of that power...so in way were "angels" or "agents" representing such said power...plus the traveler has the power to enhance/improve a certain givin race by light years "golden age"...very very dangerous...other beings might want that power for them selfs...but we're here to put a brake on that...

5 RepliesEdited by RPColten: 9/28/2017 4:29:42 AMWe are neither omnipotent nor omnipresent. I would qualify those as being the two main requirements for a being to be a 'god'. It comes down to the personal idea of what defines 'godhood' though. Some practices might be more lenient, some more strict.

I'd say we're a lot like Heracles.
-
not goods, traveler is a god, guardians are more like his angels
-
No. We are undead killing machines chosen due to certain desirable personality traits.

In Hive terms we are most definitely a god, as we've killed so many powerful enemies of the Light (The Dark Heart, Crota, Skolas, Aksis, Ghaul, and most notably Oryx) that our Guardian's Sword-Logic is through the roof. The Vex can't simulate us, and thus are afraid of what our Guardian is capable of (which is odd because the last time the Vex found something they decided to worship it). The Fallen just see us as ruthless killers and the Cabal Emperor (Calus) sees us as an opportunity for a new ally to help him with whatever he's got for us. Hope I helped!

god is kind of a relative thing.

No, we're zombies

Considering we ourselves (and maybe 3-6 others depending on the activity) not only saved the Traveler, the Last City, killed Crota, killed Oryx, ruined Oryx's immediate family (besides sisters), won the Taken War, beat the Red Legion, became allies with an Ex-Emperor of the Cabal, defeated the Time's Conflux, destroyed SIVA, imprisoned then killed the rising Kell of Wolves, and survived losing and gaining our powers back, I'd say we'd be more than a god.
