Norse Mythology

I'm a huge Norse Mythology/Viking lover! I just wanted some opinions on my thoughts. I connect every game with the Vikings so when I made a character I made a warlock not just for the Viking funeral perk but bc I felt like they were the more viking like. For many reasons Bond- is similar to a arm ring and titans are based off knights and Spartans warriors. For an example hammer of sol, sol is a Norse god but the hammer is based on the Greek god Vulcan and now in destiny 2 it has a perk call that. There are other reasons but in destiny two I thought I'd do the same thing but they changed a few things with the warlock class now it has things with Greek mythology in it. I'd just love some thoughts and opinions. And bungie if your listening pls make the warlock more Norse like!! Pls

  • Bring a beard axe as an alternative to the sword (not that iron banner one) Add some Warduran soundtracks to destiny Add a Scandinavian EDZ like Bergen in Norway or Mälaren in Sweden Make one of the characters speak danish so we can make fun of him/her Add a titan mark whit a Midgård serpent pattern Make a quest line where you have to dismantle 9 of every weapon type just like the Vikings Add Jörmungand as an Easter egg on the moon titan

    • Me too, I imagine my Hunter as a well, hunter or maybe berserk and that's why I'm looking forward to Iron Banner armor, it fits the esthetic pretty well. By the way, have you played Jøtun? It's a rather short but awesome game about a norse warrior who has to prove her worth to the gods after her inglorious death. It has hand drawn graphics and is completely voiced in icelandic which creates an absolutely authentic feel.

        • Yes there are many mythological connections, I agree. Also, The Iron Banner is a major "lookalike" what not with the Nordic names and weapons.

              • Just about every game I've ever played has in some way connected to Greek, Roman and/or Norse Mythology. All the Final Fantasy games, obviously the God of Wars, Destiny, Neverwinter, even some racing games would have a reference. It goes to show no matter how far advanced we get, we can't/won't forget our history.

                • I disagree. Would be nice if each class had its own derivative. For example, you hit titans on the head. Knights for half, juggernauts, and vikings. Hunters seem to have ninja, monk, western (cowboy?). Warlocks are the odd ones. There isn't big placers for them it seems. Battlemage for sure, but no idea about other time periods. Maybe steampunkish with their arc class? Scholar for sure, but which period... Vikings just didn't really cover the scholarly category a ton. Historically, maybe, but not really much in viking culture would cover the role of robed intellectual. I'm more medieval Europe though, so Asher has me covered. XD

                    • I think you'd feel more at home playing Smite or Conan Exiles instead of trying to make... space vikings?

Personally, I do not see Warlocks as Vikings. More like mages or wizards. Gjallarhorn, Titan's Hammer of Sol, and Skolas's name have more references to Norse mythology, in my opinion. Skolas from the name Sköll, apparently meaning "One Who Mocks", is a wolf said to swallow the heavenly bodies with his brother, Hati, come Ragnarok. Gjallarhorn was a horn associated with Heimdallr. That's... pretty much it. I don't want Warlocks to generally become more Viking, but I would love to see more Norse equipment available to all classes.
