Which faction seems the most scetchy, or most likely to turn out evil. All factions imo have their flaws but the one that stands out to me for being the most secret and under the radar is FWC. Idk but to me they seem to be plotting something. Just my opinion. What do you guys think is in store for each of the factions and do you think Bungie should dive deeper into faction lore?

3 RepliesEvil is often a matter of perspective. If you had the power to cure all of the world's diseases, but to do so you'd have to kill an innocent child, would you kill that child? Most people I know would answer no (as would I), but there are those who would do so because they consider it to either be the "greatest good" or "lesser evil." Point being nothing about these factions is necessarily meant to inspire moral debate, but everyone's going to have their own opinions on which is good or evil and will probably have some very good points to make to back up their claim. Does that mean they are right/wrong? Well, not necessarily. It's more a matter of opinion based on one's life experiences. Each of the factions has something to offer humanity and the Last City. But, at the same time, they hold unique opinions that serve to alienate some from their ranks. So, choose: Dead Orbit: Wants to save humanity from extinction by mass colonizing other worlds, but are viewed as pessimistic and/or cowardly. FWC: Wants to prepare humanity to face the greatest threats to humanity, but are viewed as crazy warmongers. New Monarchy: Wants to unite humanity and usher in another Golden Age, but a lot of people don't like the idea of a single dictator calling the shots.

2 RepliesEdited by Archangelion1: 9/30/2017 3:45:48 PMThe Fallen just seem lost. I don't feel like they are evil. They're highest on my list o races that could be an ally. The Cabal are militarized. I feel like they aren't evil, they have Cabal centered agendas and just care about themselves. If they ever decided that an alliance was in THEIR benifit. They could be powerful allies. The Vex are out to survive. They are only interested in their own survival. It's all super calculated. No feeling. The only way any alliance would occur is if their calculations showed them that in order for them to survive we had to be in the equation. They have used us to help them. Been willing to stand asside. But again it was all calculated. They aren't nessisarily evil. But they are equily not good. They don't appear to have any emotion that we know of or can understand. The Taken are chaotic. Out for their own ends. They aren't what I thought they were at the beggining, mindless and unwilling slaves of Oryx's will. They may have a new will now. Maybe they developed their own. I don't think they're out for destruction. But they do seem to want to consume every other race and make them Taken. In that way they are like the Borg, assimilating things. I don't believe any form of alliance is possible. Unless we can find a way to un-take the Taken. The Hive. This species is bent on the utter destruction of all other life. They believe in the survival of the fittest. That the universe and the meaning of life is just one giant Battle Royal. Of all the species we have encounted so far they are the most evil. They're is no chance of an alliance with them. No chance of deplomacy. Our relationship with them is, and will be, a war to the last. It will only end when either they're wiped out, or we are. As for the factions. DO would have us become the Fallen. FWC would have us become the Cabal, and New Monarchy would make us into the Hive ultimatly. One person ruling the masses never ends well. That same mentality led to the Empire in Star Wars.

Edited by OurWildebeest: 9/30/2017 3:04:38 PMNone of them stand out as being obviously more evil. Could see evil in any of them. Future War Cult has some trappings that I associate with terrorists as far as aesthetic and how they talk, but that's JMO. Dead Orbit seems defeatist. Probably New Monarchy seems the least evil on the surface, but IMO, what they are pushing is actually more dangerous in the long run (hereditary monarchy).
-
New monarchy Are you North Korea in disguise?
-
FWC, they get a lounge whilst new monarchy and dead orbit get corners
-
If we're talking potential for evil, I'd say FWC. They're sketchy af, and self identify as a cult which pretty much doubles the sketchiness. For overall worst faction though, I'd say DO. They just suck.

3 RepliesEdited by Kankunation: 9/29/2017 4:54:17 AMNew monarchy. They are basically a regime waiting for a chance to take over. perfect example of lawful evil. Dead orbit are cowards trying to run away, but not exactly evil (though I bet they were halfway to Pluto when the cabal first attacked). FWC are pretty radical, but they are prepared for whatever might strike and are the most able to save humanity.

1 ReplyDead orbit because their leader looks like an addict
-
New Monarchy. The idea of establishing a single leader to rule over us all is a bit too much. Have they no idea of what happened a long time ago in a galaxy far far away? Dead Orbit is a close runner up though
-
2 RepliesNo monarchy.
no Kings or Gods, only man
-
2 RepliesNew Monarchy wants to abolish democracy and rule under one leader. Dead Orbit wants to abandon humanity's home planet and let it get destroyed. Future War Cult wants to always prepare for war 24/7 and doesn't believe in peace.
-
1 ReplyDead Orbit - Cowards? yes, evil... i don't see it. FWC - A bit Nutter Butter? yes, evil... agian i say no. New Monarchy - I see lots of surface niceness, but that whole installing a Monarchy (one guy who is in charge of everything).... now that gives me some dark vibes.
-
I feel these will help everyone understand the factions much more. There's a great deal of depth and reason to each one.
-
In my opinion, Dead Orbit is only here so that they can cry for our help if their fleet gets attacked
-
never trusted new monarchy in D1, but they seem okay in D2. FWC is just an MLG parody as far as I can tell and my inner teenager is drawn to it.
-
Edited by BobombNik: 9/27/2017 8:48:12 PMI don't think any of them are evil at all, so there's no quantitative scale. Ironically, while New Monarchy seems like the best faction for humanity due to their values and works, they also have the greatest potential for evil because of their desire to place power under one individual.
-
None of them? Although Dead Orbit is starting to seem real sketch recently.
-
I think the factions should just work together already. FWC literally predicts attacks, New Monarchy helps the people, and Dead Orbit extends beyond this world.
-
Edited by l3igTyme: 9/27/2017 8:25:10 PMDead Orbit want to be as far away from the traveler as possible. Meaning no guardians.
-
fwc because theyve always seemed...off dead orbit wants to save humanity, and monarchy wants to establish a central government amoung the remains of the tower.
-
Dead Orbit seem pretty slimy.
