Trials Needs Matchmaking

I agree, Trials needs matchmaking

I'm not sure.

I disagree, Trials is fine the way it is

Edit: Please spread this thread and upvote it so it. If we can get this topic noticed by Bungie they might actually roll out an update to fix this issue. I keep coming back to this same conclusion over and over. Trials seriously needs matchmaking to place your team up against teams of similar skill levels who are also at similar progress on their cards. I know all the hardcore elite players out there are going to start listing off a million reasons why I'm wrong, and say "don't water down my content" or "it'll take away the prestige behind going flawless". That's just bollocks though if you ask me. Is it not hardcore enough for a team to win 7 games in a row without loss against players on their skill level? I think it is, it shows that they are doing really well for their PvP skill bracket, and put together a solid performance. Furthermore, the process of winning that many games in a row would increase their skill rating on the backend and likely start matching them with harder and harder opponents as they progress towards their 7 win ticket. If any team is able to go from a low skill threshold rating and increase that far while still winning, I think they deserve it. It seems awfully unfair to me that my team of average PvP'ers is getting matched up against full flawless teams multiple games in a row. It seems to be more frequent recently too, which tells me something (that might not be true, and could just be a unique numbers bias). Other players like us are getting pushed out of playing in Trials because we keep getting matched up again teams we have no place playing against. You can't just tell players "oh well get good then", you can't get good by being thrown into deep water like that, getting good is a long process of slowly playing progressively tougher and tougher opponents and learning at a reasonable pace. Getting thrown in with the sharks is how you get stomped and only teaches you how fast the best players can kill you.

  • Now that I have thought about it for an extended time frame I believe some type of matchmaking needs to exists however I don't think your skill level should have as much say as how many wins you have in a row and so forth, if you have or have not gone flawless this week blah blah blah. You get the idea.

    • Skill based matchmaking has no place in trials. I can only think of 2 reasons people would want it, making flawless obtainable or making win 3, 5, and 7 easier. Flawless doesn't need to be easier, it doesn't benefit the player in any way that gives them an advantage over a player who doesn't achieve flawless. Skill based matchmaking would only devalue flawless, while making the higher tier players less likely to play with their more casual friends since skill based tends to match on the highest skill not average. As for making win thresholds easier, I don't think they need to be easier. All the drops can be obtained with tokens, and the vendor only requires 1 win. If you are good enough to go on win streaks then you get rewarded, if not, you now have a goal to work towards. If even 1 win is a struggle then maybe pvp isnt for you. Matchmaking right now is rng, you could have bad luck and match high tier players or be lucky and match garbage tier players, I don't know where you are skill based but it seems that you are judging enemy teams skill based on how many of them have gone flawless and honestly I wouldn't even do that considering a huge amount are carried/ account recov'd.

        • Matchmaking does need a bit of a tweak. It should be hard but not impossible.
