Factions feedback

Hello. I'm a new player, started with Destiny 2, and I liked the game overall. And now, since factions live, I've had my first disappointment. Now let me explain what do I mean. You can pledge only to one faction, so I've started researching about them. But, the only info I've found is a tiny (3 lines) paragraph about every faction, and 3 grimoire cards, each about one faction. And based on the this Intel, how am I supposed to make a choice? I've asked my clan mates who played the first game, and they confirmed, that after 4 years this is what we know about them. Picking faction based on popularity (to get discount) or gear seems so stupid to me. For example in Mortal Combat X everyone went to the first faction for two reasons: 1. Everyone pressed A in the beginning of the game, and by default went to the first faction. 2. Other saw how many people in the first faction (which means they will win every week no matter what), and went for it. This ruined factions mechanics in MK X. Now I can see the same thing can happen in Destiny 2. Based on the forums, Dead Orbit going to win no matter what, simply because they have more players. I've even asked few people why did you choose to go with this faction, and the answers was "cuz they have nice shaders/armor" or "cuz dead orbit have too many players". But what about lore? What about smart choices? No one even looks at the small paragraph about them on wiki. I can see the other angle, this game all about loot, but then why do you even bother to write small trivia about them if don't want to? The solution could be hiding all the gear until the end of the factions war, and write more backstory about them. Otherwise it's just a joke to get more loot called factions. Hope you will get this feedback, and reply. Sincerely, your Guardian)))

  • Factions aren't meant to be something really big. In the first game there there was no faction rally. What would be the point to not join a faction based on there loot. Would you want to get gear that you didn't like the stats or looks of?

    • I could understand caring more about the faction war if our choices had an overall outcome. By this i mean Dead orbit wins the faction war and we abandon the tower and traveler and make a new home/base of operations on another planet. FWC wins and we decide to bring the fight to the darkness and grow our army larger than it is ie. New powers, new weapons, new vehicles,TANKS! Mfer... New Monarchy wins and appoints a new leader in the speakers absence, dictator, king, etc. Just in case you followed some of the lore, Commander Zavala was once asked to take on that role by the New Monarchy.
For now im making my decision based on the way each factions armor and shaders look on my characters. Will pledge to each faction on each one of my 3 Guardian types.Titan=FWC, Hunter=DeadOrbit, Warlock=NewMonarchy
Okay, so yes, there's little lore based on these factions. They sprouted up mainly as people with the same ideas that wanted to push those ideas into the senate (group of leaders, not senate, some other word that's escaping my mind right now). Search up MyNameIsByf on Youtube for some awesome lore videos and you might find what you're looking for. He actually does have some video out about faction lore for 2 of the factions, probably coming out with the third soon. • Dead Orbit was always going to win, they were by far the most popular faction in D1. They have the best Color Scheme, and their Gear looks better in general.

            • Each one of my guardians will be allied with a different faction. If the reward is that good, ill just buy it 3xs on my character who's allied with the winning faction. It's not really a big deal who wins.
