In campaign of course,
These weapons will be very versatile in campaign, I will explain:
Needle Rifle
The needle rifle is obviously the superior choice over the DMR because of the 3-shot explosion on any unshielded opponent this would make very quick work of hunters and maybe even brutes, also the faster firing rate give you more headshots in less time, in comparison to the DMR, but coupled with the plasma pistol and the weapon can also take out elites quickly with an EMP + headshot
Plasma Pistol
The Plasma Pistol is already proven to be VERY versatile because of the fact that it can disable vehicles, and shieds very quickly and its damage boost makes it a very useful side arm, and don't even start to worry about the ammo because they are EVERYWHERE.Don't forget that as I mentioned previously the EMP headshot or super combine makes this weapon extremely useful.
What do you think?

The focus rifle was the best weapon ive got my hands on during the BETA.
-
I still prefer Magnum + Plasma Pistol (My dynamic duo of puny shooters)

Can't disagree with you on the Plasma Pistol. That thing is beastly. Bonus points for it going to be relatively common. Or deduction points depending on the level difficult you're playing and how good the Grunts are going to be. As for the Nerfle, I'm going to wait and reserve judgement on them. I really don't think Bungie would be silly enough to allow the 3 shot supercombine on things like Hunters. That would make them ridiculously easy to kill, which is entirely counter-intuitive with the new bigger, and presumably stronger Hunters.
Posted by: Coady91
Posted by: TorontoFan14 Yea they are good, but the Plasma Repeater is better. :D
LOVED the plasma repeater!
I was actually able to kill faster with a plasma pistol.

I agree that the Needle Rifle will kick ass in the campaign and in firefight against grunts and jackals because of its superior rate of fire, but I doubt hunters are vulnerable to supercombines, and against Elites/Brutes you should be taking them out with a headshot anyways. And yeah, the Plasma Pistol will, as always, kick ass against shielded enemies.

i choose the needle rifle over the DMR

I thought the needler was bada$$, but the plasma pistol was good too.
-
I agree with you on the Plasma Pistol but its debatable on the Needle Rifle.

magnum, needle rifle, or DMR + plasma pistol are great combinations same as in halo 3 odst: carbine or magnum + plama pistol, awesome or in halo 3: BR, magnum or carbine + plasma pistol are great it have been always like that
Posted by: A 3 Legged Goat The Needle Rifle is only better than the DMR because of splash damage on explosions and the fact that you can kill more unshielded opponents before reloading. Otherwise, the DMR has a larger scope, more stopping power, and kills quicker. Can't argue with the PP though. It owns.
The DMR does not necessarily do more damage because the needle rifle can fire faster and you remided me that when a bunch of unngoy bunch up that all you have to do is shoot the one in the middle three times, and boom like 4 other grunts go down and there you go killed 5 grunts with 3 bullets But yeah the plasma pistol does indeed rule.

The plasma pistol was beast. But the DMR and Needle Rifle are pretty square in my opinion (meaning I don't find either one being superior to the other) but I do prefer the Needle Rifle because i always loved the needler and the carbine and this is the best of both.
