Before I get flamed out the butt for my post - I just want ya'll to know I am a lifer. I did put a signifigant amount of time into this game, these are the approximates; 10 days x 4 hours, 3 days x 8 hours, 1 day x2 hours - that's 66 hours folks, and that's discounting the fact that atleast 1/3 of that time was spent learning the Raid mechanics. I understand that not everybody plays this way - but rather than insulting me and telling me to "go outside" atleast consider the fact that some people play games more than the casual gamer does.
So right now - Destiny 2 has officially ended for me - there is NOTHING left to do but grind a measly 5 light points on each character. I have completed the story 3 times, collected all but 3 exotic guns and 1 armor piece. I've completed the Raid, 3 times now. Platinumed the game on PSN, marking my 100% completion.
And now there's just... nothing. Up until today I thought the true light cap was 350 - but after several threads on the forums, and looking at the highest light players on the Destiny Tracker, it's been determined that the max light (as of now) is 305.
What is left? This game catered way much to entry level players - which is fine in its own rights - but you made a serious problem by not adding any replayability for hardcore players. There is no more perpetual grind to extend the gameplay like there was before.
We need some changes bungie... we need that light cap unlocked to 350, with exotic farming contributing towards it. We need Strike specific gear to incentivize Strike farming. One Raid is fine for initial release - but we need more of a farmable Arena type mode like PoE. We need randomized perks for Weapons and Armors to encourage grinding for our perfect rolls and sets for our 'ideal' builds. We NEED a reason to keep going.
The problem here isn't one of me being burned out or bored - I want more. I want content to last me until the first DLC arrive in winter - if not, I'm officially done for 3 months. You've gone and left behind some of the key changes that kept D1 players playing up until even right now as I write this - but as for D2 - it's done, it's over - how could you not foresee this?
Faction Rally comes out next week - I have 0 incentive to participate really because it's all going to be underleveled legendary crap that does nothing for me, and instead helps the lowbies continue... which again, I'm not against - but seriously where is replayability to be found for those of us who like to smash the game out, day in and day out?
If you're like me and aren't huge on PVP, that's that - time to play other games and leave Destiny 2 behind, and it hurts to say it :( I just really liked this game, and thought it would keep me busy for months... not 2 and 1/2 weeks.

6 RepliesStop saying “we” in your posts. It’s not Bungies fault you got burnt out from binging. Here’s the real facts: - You haven’t beaten all the story content (don’t BS me that you even attempted all of the Adventures and scannables.) - You’re not Max light. You said it yourself you’re throwing in the towel early. - You have not completed all of the nightfall activities... you know since they have not all been released yet. - You bitched about gear, but the reality is there are over 10 sets of gear for each character. You’re telling me you have a vault with 20+ sets of armor in it? On top of that you’re complaining about the reintroduction of factions and don’t plan on participating? Weird for someone who demanded gear grinding options. - You’re short on what you claim to be 4 exotics. So then your set is not complete. That’s like me leaving work early and saying I put in a full day. - And what about guided game activities? Been helping a lot of players out there? - The Raid prestige mode hasn’t even been released yet. Nor has the faction portion of the game. Bungie is doing a soft roll out to prevent the very thing you’re complaining about. And may I add you’re complaining the day before reset. There is more but I’m sure you got the point. Next time when you try to manipulate your readers by saying things like “We need this” and “We want that.” Make sure you know that your group is a lot smaller than you may think. Also good luck 👍

Yeah the fact that random rolls were taken away still has me shaking my head. I haven’t done the raid yet. Don’t think I will. Over 1500 hrs in D1,did every raid, was excited for every raid. Except this one

2 RepliesWork 50+ hours/week - was gone launch week and didn’t get to play until the weekend - have 3 kids so only get to play after they are in bed if I’m lucky. I have a 280+ lock, a 290+ Titan, and just started my hunter but yet I still feel how the OP feels. I play when I have time because my friends are on and I enjoy playing with them, but destiny 2 simply put, it doesn’t feel rewarding. I used to hop on destiny when I got home from work just to play a strike or two, or a couple of PvP matches. When I had more time, I would find a group and do the weekly raid challenge, or play some trials. It didn’t matter that all three of my guardians were maxed, or that I had all the gear and there wasn’t really anything left to grind for - it was fun. And playing still felt rewarding. Getting an adept weapon I didn’t have, or messing around with unique exotics I hadn’t played with in a while, changing my class build to discover new ways to feel super OP. Whatever it was, it was enjoyable. Yesterday I ran the nightfall and got exotic boots that reload your energy weapon while sprinting. How is that even considered exotic?! - infused them into my legendary boots and didn’t get the extra 5 light from the legendary mod (which I knew would happen, but still - it’s dumb it doesn’t stack). This is how destiny 2 is though. You spend hours memorizing tedious tasks in the raid (which honestly I think they did a good job with as far as the aesthetics & encounters), but when you finally beat an encounter, you get tokens, which reward gear lower than your current level. Maybe you got a drop, but probably not. You probably got a key instead which after exploring the lower belly of the ship to find a chest to unlock gives you more tokens?! The nightfall: its recommended 240 light, my warlock was 280, I had 2 people 276 & 290+ with me. I had to use an exploit to give us enough time to try and beat the boss, and we still didn’t do it. I had to wait until later in the day when I had clan mates on to beat it, again using the exploit to do so. Strikes - no keys, no locked chests, no strike exclusive loot, no gear above or at current light level. So what’s the point? More tokens? That yet again give gear below your current light?! Crucible - pointless without at least a team of 3 - preferably 4. Enter with 2 or less and you are going to have a bad time. Rewards? - just as much crap as everything else. Lost sectors, adventures, public events? Dismantle, dismantle, dismantle all the loot drops. All kinds of stuff & tokens to turn in everywhere? More worthless gear to dismantle. The sad thing is the content is there, but without the rewards, I don’t even feel like playing it, because it’s not as fun as destiny 1. I can’t mix & match my class abilities to make my subclass feel different - I can pick option A or B. It’s not like there is a massive amount of new weapons & gear to search for since all the perks are standard now. It’s just the same drops over and over. Honestly the most rewarding feeling is getting something cool from eververse when my character earns a bright engram - which rarely happens and is just sad because it’s cosmetics, it’s emotes, it’s different colors for my gear. But I feel the game was made that way on purpose, to feed on those that’ll dump more money into the part that feels rewarding. Anyway, sorry that got so long, but it seems a lot of people are feeling this way.

Edited by Greye22: 9/29/2017 11:53:33 AMPretty casual player myself. Haven't done trials. Haven't done Leviathan Raid. Sitting at 300 with nothing interesting to do. Queueing up for 1 hour to play the raid guided isn't exactly that approachable unless you have nothing but free time. The game is a lot of fun. I love the spice of the adventures and the missions after the campaign. But even only playing a few hours every couple of days, I hit 300 and don't feel any point in playing a strike or queueing for a nightfall when all content equates to the same thing. Do event/thing - get gear/engram - IMMEDIATELY dismantle because it's yen levels lower and nearly worthless. It's a loot based shooter with no exciting loot at the end. The exotic guns are fun (when you don't get constant repeats) but when there's no driving goal post to try and achieve, it's very stale as a game of its type.

1 ReplyIt's not Bungie's fault that you blew through all the content 3 weeks after release.

7 RepliesI can't even get past 269, much less hit that magical 300+ mark. I understand that the Milestones are there to give "powerful gear", but I'm a Solo Player. The reasons for that I spell out below, and there's really no chance of any of those circumstances changing. - I do the Flashpoints, but that's one item per week, so progression is severely limited with that. - I'm the only active member of my 4-person Clan, so that's limited to my 5000 Clan XP contribution. - I don't ever PvP. I don't believe that PvP should have ever been introduced to any game resembling an MMORPG, and while I am not saying that Destiny is an MMORPG, it's "close enough", and I just don't enjoy any type of PvP. The rest of my issues are that I will most likely not be able to do any of the other Milestones. - By circumstance and availability, I am required to play Solo. The old Clan I used to play with has moved on to a different Clan. I'm the only active member of my little 4-player Clan, and since my Xbox is in my bedroom, I cannot use a headset to communicate with a Fireteam as I am only able to play late night, and my wife is sleeping right behind me. I am loathe to wake her. But because of this, I am unable to join another, larger Clan, as they require (and rightly so) members to ustilize their headsets for team communication. This, I cannot do. - I've done the Mida Exotic Quest. The one for Sturm on Nessus requires a Fireteam as a Strike is the last step, so I'm stuck there. The other Exotic Quests I'm slowly working through. But the 'O Captain' Quest line finishing with a Strike has me a bit skittish about completing the rest of them... but eventually, with time, I'll get through them (hopefully). - The Raid is likewise out of the Question. - The Nightfall is also not going to be happening any time soon. - I don't ever PvP, so the Crucible I will not participate in for the aforementioned reasons. Also, from what I've read about it, the Crucible is extremely unfriendly to Solo Players. - I have only recently reached the 100+ Legendary Shard mark, so until now Xur has been unavailable for Infusion as to utilize his inventory, it would drain pretty much every Shard I had. Plus, I then have to hope that he's selling a weapon or armor that I could Infuse into my Gear. So far, he's sold nothing I could use for Infusion except for a Warlock Chest. In short, while I understand what Bungie was/is trying to do with getting Players to meet each other and "make friends", they've weighted the game so heavily towards that goal, that it has become severely punishing to Solo Players. So, no hate on any of you who have regular Fireteams and Clan activity. Your information is correct and would have been very helpful, but my very situation with Gaming prevents me from doing 90% of the Milestones to advance. Edit = I got my first Exotic Engram in a week and a half last night! It turned into a Warlock Helmet that I already have, and have no use for... It was especially painful because, when it decrypted, it decrypted one -blam!-ing point below the Exotic Helmet I'm already using... I could only shake my head as I dismantled it. Really disappointing.

Just wait until more content gets released then it won’t be as boring. There’s barely any content so of course it’s gonna be boring.

Here is what he is feeling along with many others. Sitting at 300+, finish raid..get an armor piece...wahoo right? wrong. Armor does nothing new for an upgrade except look cool. That is a big problem. Ok, get a raid weapon that u worked for, wahoo..yes these weapons do have some differences to make them exciting, however, last night I got 3 sins of the past on 1 raid clear, this is a little silly and annoying. Ok so my week is done, now what..prestige nightfall for..what? another cosmetic change? This isn't very exciting. All the game needs is something to work towards once you are all leveled up. Raid armor should have at the very least an additional trait or even just a trait that is specific to the raid. Raid exotics should also be unique. The gear sets should have set bonuses. These are all things that every single loot / raid game has, except vanilla d2. A response from bungie addressing these issues would at least make us understand the direction they took.

Wait 66 hours is a lot....what do I do with my 9 days and 15 hours then....
-
You no lifed the game. What do you expect?? Same as me.

64 RepliesEdited by NeoReaper82: 9/25/2017 1:31:51 AMThe ignorance in the comment section is down right hilarious. People bashing you for playing the game more than them & saying how dare you play your game how you want to. I'm seen a lot of toxicity in communities but the fanboys of Destiny take the cake. Hell Bungie themselves called the elitist in their game toxic. Bungie change the rating to M and it will improve the community 10x over.

You don't remember D1 Vanilla, it was way worse than D2 Vanilla.

1 ReplyGet a job?

106 RepliesI have a full time job, a wife and young child. And even I am 300+ on all three characters and have done the raid twice, and flawless trials once. This game was made for people who are either bad at Destiny, or simply have like an hour here and there to play. And here i was thinking D1 needed more. Jesus H. Destiny 2 has less replay ability than fuking donkey kong. It's pathetic.

7 RepliesCONGRATULATIONS! YOUR HAVE SUMMONED ME. Why?! The game has been out for 20 days and you have 66 Hours put into it, yet you have the audacity come come in here and cry about it not being fun after 3 days of playing?! I have every exotic gun, except raid and Borealis. I have platinumed the game. Almost every piece of exotic armor. 3 characters 300+. Complete 4 Raids. Went flawless, oh, and also have 144 Hours in total so far, while being a husband, father, and full time employed. I still enjoy getting on everyday. If you bought the $100 edition, at 66 hours you paid $1.51 Per hour, I'd say you got your money's worth I'm 3 weeks. CONGRATS, now... back of the line.

The rush to max everything has no reward if you get to the top of the mountain and expect another larger mountain behind it. If you can't enjoy just playing the game without purpose than make up your own and here are some suggestions... Maybe just grind that faction war anyway How about exploring the game till you know every single inch of it if you haven't already Maybe just shadow randoms out in the wild for fun or something Or just mess around and do dumb stuff like trying to get people in the tower to all jump over the wall like lemmings
-
1 ReplySo you pretty much just want all the grindy shit back. I'm sorry you've maxed everything out, but I don't want to hear or see people running a strike repeatedly so they could get a gun to maybe drop better for them.
-
I haven’t even hit 20hrs yet and I feel done with the game. I don’t know the game just bores me...
-
3 Replies66 hrs I would say, you have gotten your money's worth. Compare that to any other form of entertainment. My long standing rule of thumb so to speak is I want to get at least 1 hr of game play for every dollar i pay for a game. So a $60 game I want to get 60 hrs out of. I think that is a reasonable realistic expectation. Occasionally there will be games that far exceed it(Dying Light) and for those those are true gems. But they are rare. and to expect much over 60 hrs you set yourself up for disappointment. I even created a thread, "how many hrs is enough?"
-
Doesn’t matter if your a hardcore player or a person who can only play an hour every other day the game was built to allow everyone to enjoy it and be able to level up and play. Personally I’m enjoying it a lot even with a lot of time into it
-
Congrats you beat the game. It's done, all over. Why? You played all the content. "There's nothing to do" well no shit
-
Why the rush ? People seems to forget to enjoy a game these days, it's sad in some way. I'm taking it slow and enjoying the landscape, music and playing with my friends. Enjoy the game and take it 50% slower ;) Rush rush rush and rush gives you a slap in your face at the end, true fact :)
-
It's a business. They want to sell as many games as possible, there's nothing sinister about it. If you don't want to grind to 305............................then don't lol and just stfu about it
-
But why would Bungie ever cater to you? Why would they make a game that would keep you busy for over 60 plus hours right outa the gate? The answer is they won't. Soooooo why don't you just quit?
-
XBL says I have 185 hours on D2....I'm still trying to get certain things, help friends, grind exotics, etc. what's wrong with just playing cause it's fun?? How are people running out of stuff when they are still releasing new things each week? You don't have to play it exclusively
