Shelia died on Miridem, Halsey saw it personally as she was there herself. The report (both UNSC and Covenant) detail how Halsey's Spartan bodyguard was killed attempting to protect Halsey as she escaped Miridem prior to her capture by the Fleet Major Thel was apart of. As there was only one Spartan reported on Miridem killed, it is only logical they are referring to Shelia.
Makes sense, but with all the new info they are adding, there may be more info that makes your logic invalid. That, and it could have easily been any other Spartan sent there, I don't recall Sheila being the only one present.

 • I for one do not like Vociferous..and the other dude on Ascendant Justice, theres one thing that bugs me to no end on their site, the fact that they have yet to fix the Installation part of the blog. They have the order of the rings wrong, :/ the one closest to the activation panel at the far end of the room from the elevator is Installation 01, and then the second closest is Installation 02 etc. But of course, they did it the other way, numbering them from the elevator to the activation panel. Bleh, its the only thing on their site that as far as i can see, and figured out from examining the surface of the rings in Theater, that is incorrect... I wouldnt like it if they were..sent to a canon preservation team at 343 based on that one thing they got wrong XD, when it comes to Halo, i dislike mistakes EXTREMELY, especially from them since they were recommended by Bungie.

Originally, Halsey is supposed to have black hair, and slightly aged..ONLY slightly. The Halo Legends version..was....well, i believe to make her more appealing to those men that found Cortana (who technically IS Dr. Halsey) rather sexy.

 • its possible that 50x is not an exact ratio to multiply the figures by, but the highest UNSC Fleet Admiral (TMK) isnt really gonna estimate wrongly by much more than, if at all by much more than 75 - as such, its gonna be anywhere between 700 and 800 ships really, even when it is just an assumption. its not as bad as some other things that have been highlighted, ranging from numbers of spartans overlooked over the course of 9 years of re-releases and edits, and also even the dates of the battles for Sigma Octanus IV or Reach, which are STILL 10 years before they occured, and relegate the 'canon' status of the entirety of every game (including Halo Wars timelines, probably) wrong and out by 10 years, if this date of 2542 is actually accepted.
Posted by: opogjijijp
Posted by: JDYeash937 MkII i did post about this, page 12 i think - upping the reach assault fleet to around 700 ships brings it into line with H2, Lord Hood comments on Regrets fleet that the Reach fleet was '50x this size'. If theres only 15 ships in Regrets fleet, 50x more is 750, which explains that retcon. i may have to buy this entirely to complain, rather than praise its retconning. has it retconned some of the inconsistencies from the 2001 original edition? if so, ill still buy the damn thing.
Posted by: opogjijijp
Posted by: paulmarv Anyways, at least this disaster might give them a hint to try harder with the next two books they will be redoing. They ought not to screw those up.
Well, I thought the encyclopedia and the reaction to that might get them to try harder, but apparently they still don't understand the purpose of an editor. I'll accept the 700 ships as a retcon, even if I think it's unnecessary and pointless(If they really want there to be 700 ships at Reach, fine, but there's no good reason to make the change) but they leave other massive inconsistencies untouched(Hey everyone who insisted that the Spartan numbers in TFOR weren't canon anymore, what do you have to say now?) and introduce a massive typo in the version that was released to fix typos and small errors. I hope they increase the number of ships at the Unyielding Heirophant in First Strike, because there's going to be some problems there if they don't...

There is absolutely no need to being anything into line with Halo 2 And I thought I was an over-literal nerd...
•
Posted by: flamedude I can't help but feel that the writers are just destroying established canon to allow for future writing opportunities.
I would find that disappointing to be honest. I do not see why they should need to re-write previous canon in order to fit in more material in the future and provide more writing opportunities. They should continue to expand the franchise in other directions. Seems to me like they are trying to cram it all into the Human-Covenant war. We know how and why it begins yeah? We know how and why it ends yeah? We pretty much know the internal machinations of the Covenant, the UNSC, the major events of that war. Tell me something that needs to be expanded upon in that tiny part of the timeline? Look at other franchises. Star Trek began with the Federation-Klingon conflict. They did not cram it all in to that. We got the Cardassians, Borg, Romulans, Dominion, Xindi etc. Star Wars went beyond the 6 films, Stargate went beyond the Goa'uld. Halo seems like it is crammin' it all in. There is the Forerunner trilogy though, proof that they may not bore us to death afterall...

However, I just can't seem to accept that people like Frankie at 343 are traitors indifferent to this stuff. Perhaps that is caused by subjective influence from my desire NOT to believe it. The only logical way I can uphold the reputation of Frankie and others at 343 that I've always liked is if I state that they are either ignorant of their own products and the reactions to them (which in itself is worthy of fault) or if they are being ignored by their bosses. Either way, something is fundamentally wrong at 343 if this is how they will go about with Halo until it is financially dead.
this is true

Even if it didn't I'm not spursied, this is ONI we are talking about after all.
