In the new version there it states that reach comes under attack at 2542 and not 2552.
the battles for Sigama Octanus and Reach are now 2542
Cole is now a Fleet Admiral in 2530
Admiral Stanforth is now a Vice Admiral
700+ ships attacked reach

If this is true, it represents complete and total failure on the author's part. I am and always have been a huge supporter and fan of Nylund and the REAL Fall of Reach. I am one who always said "Don't touch it - even if it isn't perfect we can work it out". Perhaps I was correct, perhaps I wasn't. But if they completely rewrote the book and screwed up this bad, I cannot imagine what the point of making this "version two" was in the first place. 2542. Unbelievable. Now I know I shouldn't jump to any conclusions here; maybe it is just a printing error or some weird version you happened to come across. I don't know. I certainly hope it is fixed, however. (It comes out tomorrow on Amazon which is how I will get it) I'll just have to save my criticisms until I read it.
Posted by: Hillofheroes1 the MC at one point says he have bin a sparten for 25 years on reach. And if you do the math 2517 to 2542 thats 25 years
Right, so I imagine the jump from Reach to Installation 04 took ten years then? Or maybe the battle went on for ten years. You know, how about we retcon the Halo 1 time line altogether. Seriously though, thank you for providing us with this information. I certainly don't have the book yet and don't think too many of us do at this moment. [Edited on 08.02.2010 8:58 PM PDT]
Posted by: switch 104 sv You got the new version? Did I miss something? When was it released?
Official release date is tomorrow, but stores might sell it early. IIRC, I got the encyclopedia before the official release. Checking the websites of the bookstores, doesn't look like anyone near me has it in stock. Anyone else? If it's true that the dates are still wrong, it's disappointing. After the problems with the encyclopedia, I actually thought 343 might try harder. Apparently I was wrong. It better be a printing problem =\
-
Could it by any chance be a reoccurring typo? It's not too unlikely considering these are most likely early prints.

And they still messed up the sparten numbers [Edited on 08.02.2010 8:49 PM PDT]

And they got the date wrong? Well that sucks.
