• They removed so many good things that were in Destiny 1... Having 2 primary weapons is just so boring and pointless especially for PvP. Why the hell would you use a weapon that in Destiny 1 was a secondary weapon (shotgun/sniper) over a weapon that in Destiny 1 was classed as heavy ammo (rocket launcher)? Fair enough if they buffed the Destiny 1 secondary weapons in Destiny 2 but they didn't. In fact the made them worse (snipers). PvP is a mess. People randomly get heavy ammo because it is every where so you never know if they have it or not. Unlike in the first one where it spawns in one area at a certain time and you have to group up and fight the enemies for it. Sub classes are way less customizable now. You have to choose from 2 different sets of 4 perks instead of picking any you want. Getting loot doesn't feel good either because it is handed to you so free. I created and got 3 characters to 370 in my first week (no resets) on pc. Also, shaders are limited... The things they really improved in destiny 2 were: 1. No longer needing xp to unlock perks on weapons, armor, and subclasses. 2. Better story mode, characters are more likeable, and better cutseen's. 3. More interesting map design. 4. An extra ability to use for each class. It is still fun for PvE, and i will keep playing but i enjoyed Destiny 1 more gameplay wise. TL;DR Destiny 2 is not as fun gameplay wise because you have 2 primary weapons. But it has a lot more interesting story and maps.

I know there are others out there that think Destiny 2 is better and that is fine, but this is just my view and the view of several others out there that Destiny 1 was better, at lest so far. Destiny 1s grind was definitely more engaging. You weren't just handed exotics just for getting through certain parts of a story. You could obtain exotics by doing the Nightfall, Xur, chests in the Raid, occasional legendary engrams, or the elusive exotic quests that didn't just show up for completing the story. Perks on weapons and armor had to be worked toward because they were, to a certain degree, random. Even if that means having some weapons be a little broken with just the right "God roll" it was way more memorable than trying to balance everything so much. If you wanted a certain roll on a weapon then you could just buy one at a vender. No one is going to remember your game because of how balanced it was. Gear feels flat! With the only difference between armor being mobility, resilience, and recovery. I can now slap one mod onto any of my armor and give it the perk I want. Even the perks are a lot less dynamic in Destiny 2 than Destiny 1. The end game came a lot faster in Destiny 2 than Destiny 1. I'm already at max level with the perks and load outs for PVP and PVE and now I'm just working toward having the aesthetic look I want and the new DLC. Now some things Destiny 2 did improve upon is navigation between activities, organization of gear, and they pushed the variation between enemy types. I just feel that Bungie should have took all they learned and worked toward on Destiny 1 and to a certain degree made Destiny 2 feel like it picked up where Destiny 1 left off but with the few good updates. Again...this is just the way I feel about it.

When I made this reply I did not fully explain what I was trying to say and ended up with some points that sound stupid, and some that were poorly researched. I'm too lazy to correct everything so I'm just going to kill this reply by deleting original comment (:

            • No, and that's a fallacy to begin with. Now if you said D1 3 weeks in was better than D2 3 weeks in we could have an engaging debate.. but we all know D1 was trash up until CE so good luck winning that one.

              • Sorry I wish I could agree with you, but I can't. There are a few things I wish they would reincorporate that were in Destiny, (and still think they might over time) but Destiny 2 all in all is a much better game.

              • OP, you seem to state this as if it is explicit fact. You are indeed correct, just like those that will flatout state that Destiny 2 is better with no ifs, ands, or buts. But, just like their opinions, your statement is subjective.

              • The gloss of a new game is definitely starting to come off. The game has very little to do and fixed rolls made grinding worthless imo.

                • D1 - better customisation, better character models, better armour textures, better movement, better subclass customisation, better gun textures and models, better PVP. D2 - better cutscenes, better story and missions.

                  • I think Destiny 1 was better because combat flow was more fun in pve, having primary, special, and power weapons. That, and super cooldowns were steady such that if I was playing solo and there were yellow hp enemies, i could super just often enough to feel awesome. As it stands now in D2, power weapons are the only way to deal with sponges. This means I have two guns that will take forever and a day to defeat a single enemy, which have have extremely similar gameplay, and one powerful weapon with limited ammo to spice up my gameplay. It's not all bad here, but I felt powerful in d1, and d2 just makes me feel weak. I do love how exploration is in D2 though and farming chests and public events is pretty fun, even with weapon restrictions. I just wish I could pick what I got from deverim Kay once every ten rank ups. Also, I think nightfall, strikes, and explore should be adjusted to allow for 4 man fire teams to match pvp!

                  • The grind was real in vanilla d1.....and I miss it. On a positive note, I don't feel addictive to the game anymore

                  • D1 was Bungies training course. D2 was supposed to be everything they have learned and then some. The strikes are not any better and other content is really not above par from D1. Don't get me wrong I love the game and I invest a good amount of time with it, but entirely too much was taken away, and the mistakes that we see already in D2 should have been learned from in D1. How the F could BUNGIE royally F up the meta in the Crucible??? After 3 years of tedious weapon balance and they F it up first time around with MIDA at every corner. Test players??? Beta??? Wtf.

                  • So vanilla destiny where the only way to max was to grind ascendent materials from the raid or the pitiful 2 per day is better? I think not

                  • Are you talking about all the d1 dlcs and base game? Because this is just the vanilla d2, it just came out this -blam!-ing month dude. 3 years of dlcs > 1 Month If you're talking about vanilla, hell no. D1 saw no sort of competitive crucible (or balanced crucible @SurosRegime), focused narrative, or any sort of reward for playing the game after a point. Only thing that fixed it was the release of DB, HoW, and finallly ttk. Destiny 2 is considerably better. The pvp is balanced (except for mida lol), we actually started with a competitive crucible, we have more opportunities to get loot (i.e. Nightfall, Pubs, Lost sectors though they're obsolete, World Vendors, Quests, Adventures, Raid and Raid Vendor), and the story is extremely focused compared to destiny 1's scrapped and remade story. Lots of these things d1 didn't get till the later expansions (like Quests) /end rant

Destiny 1 + TDB + HOW + TTK + ROI > Destiny 2 > Vanilla Destiny 1. And the above isn't about content ( because it would not be fair to compare 1 game + 4 Expansions to 1 game ), it's about Quality Of Life Improvements, It felt like Bungie were getting better at making Destiny less of a chore to play, then Destiny 2 comes out and feel like I'm playing Vanilla Destiny 1 again. Almost every single pet peeve that I've had with Vanilla Destiny 1 has reared its head in Destiny 2. Bungie were only interested in making Vanilla Destiny 2 better than Vanilla Destiny 1, they could have gone that extra mile to make Vanilla Destiny 2 better than All of Destiny 1 but they didn't, and now the fan base is giving Bungie shit for it, for removing much loved and much needed features that the predecessor had the sequel doesn't.
