What happened to the Cabal from D1?
I honestly do not know what happened to legions like the Sand Eaters, Dust Giants, or Skyburners after the Red Legion arrived but i do know they still exist. Do any of you know what happened to them? Were they integrated into the Red Legion or are they just off doing their own thing?

1 ReplyUnsure. From some dialogue and lore cards, I think half of the Cabal from D1 joined up with the Red Legion. You can tell this since they is a sand eater base on IO and in the Inverted Spire Strike, you can find some dead cabal with the old armor. But at the same time, they is evidence they are actually fighting the Red Legion, in a civil war if you think about it.

1 ReplyThe Cabal on Mars are mostly scattered and broken. They either deserted, got Taken, died of any causes, or joined the Red Legion. The Cabal on the Dreadnaught I think mostly survived and joined the Red Legion either on Earth or on the Leviathan.

1 ReplyWasn't there a mention about some of the survivors being recruited by Calus? I remember hearing of a legion that was tossed out because they failed a mission for him.

Edited by bringerofdeat: 10/28/2017 5:46:39 PMThe Cabal are known to exile legions they send on missions. Calus sent the original Cabal to take the Sol system and banished them until they came back victorious. Which of course they didn't.

They're probably dead. Not all of them, but most. Their command structure was broken and their numbers ravaged. With no supply chains or backup they slowly died off with each guardian raid and vex attack. Any survivors are off in the deserts trying to, well, survive. The rest of the forces that weren't deserters joined up with the red legion.

2 RepliesAs of right now there hasn't been any backstory on this. Some fan fiction but that's about it. We can only assume that they are still on Phobos and still just wandering around Mars aside from scattered fleets. Would be cool if Bungie would pen it but I'm not holding my breath for it!
