It's possible that the game isn't using your graphics card, but rather your integrated graphics.
I've had that problem in the past, worth a check.

That could be, but how would I fix that? Just uninstall the game and reinstall?
-
No, not necessarily. Nvidia control panel will be able to tell you. Also, using the same control panel, make sure you set your power management to "Prefer Maximum Performance". It's been known to automatically switch itself to some bullshit energy saving mode that kills fps.
-
I guess I'm just blind. I can't find a nividia control panel anywhere
-
Just do a toolbar search? You might need to install it, but I would have thought it would come with your GeForce Experience download.
-
Oh I did, couldn't find it. Looked online and found many people didn't get the control panel with the GeForce experience with windows 10, so I'm just in the process of reinstalling everything.
-
I feel that's a little unnecessary, but let me know how you get on.
-
to recap, I reinstalled everything, I have the control panel now, but it won't open cause I am not using a display attached to a Nvidia gpu
-
So is your monitor connected to the port on the motherboard or the graphics card?
Sorry for the delay, phone died.
-
It's connected to the motherboard. Should it be on the gpu?
-
It's connected to the motherboard. Should it be on the gpu?
Yes.
-
Well swapping the display port for the monitor to the gpu instead of the motherboard seemed to fix the issue. Thanks
-
Awesome! Connecting to the motherboard usually forces it to use integrated graphics for one reason or another. It's a great rig you've got there! Happy gaming. I would quickly check your power management options in the Nvidia control panel now you have it, though.
-
Yea I'll have to still check out stuff now just to make sure. Took all day to figure out that the issue was the port in the wrong place.
-
You're not the only one whose gone through something like that. Consider yourself part of the family now.
-
Oh trust me, I think it's a bit unneeded too. But oh well.
