Sounds like a controller issue. The controller is likely sending a forward stick signal as you depress L2, which can stem from a physically wearing controller, or electronic issues (software/firmware/controller electronics/wireless interference). Many games use an analog "dead zone", where slight control inputs don't do anything in game until the control (like a stick) moves a certain distance past neutral. Destiny is more sensitive, and the slightest input (be it from a physical input or malfunctions in the controls like listed above) will cause movement.
