So it was around 11, just got back from work, kick my shoes off and boot up Destiny 2. I figured hey the reset came along my friends are all either in bed or watching Netflix so why not hit up the lfg forums and see if anyone is looking for an extra member to raid with.
(I've only gotten as far as the Gauntlet mind you and knew what to do my fire teams never executed though)
Found a post "280+ light level needs to know what to do raid from the start"
Alright cool I got this!
They add me quickly and we begin. Now mind you this clan were great sports they were all over 300 and even though I was a low light level I handled myself well on my own. We blasted through the raid up until the boss in 1 hour. They were impressed.
Here's the kicker it wasn't so much the clan but the clan leader who was toxic. He wasn't playing with us, or in chat. But my fellow fireteam guardians kept talking about how the clan leader wanted us to stop because I was a random and didnt like his clan mates doing the raid or anything for that matter without the clan.
He kept messaging his team mates to let him in chat (our chat party was full so they had to kick someone out to let him in) and they kept getting a little flustered. receiving messages like "imma drop the clan mother-blam!-ers if you dont let me in right now"
I was like "woah guys no big deal I can leave its just a game" they didnt want me to leave at all they wanted to complete the raid. Which I liked about them. I stayed quiet as they brought their leader in and they warned me this guy is gonna talk a lot shit about you so please dont let it get to you. I was like nah I got this what can he possibly say.
HOLY SHIT WAS I WRONG.
The minute he came in he was screaming at his teammates "why the hell are you guys going in with random's what's the point of making a clan if you guys dont stick with it!! I hope you guys wipe every single Time I hope that guy you have sucks so bad and he's ruining it for you, I bet you he's being carries by you pricks, why'd you guys not wait for everyone to get on! My best friend just left the clan what did you guys say to him! I made this clan for us! Why can't you be patient and freaking wait. Etc etc.
This goes on for another hour or so.
It literally threw us all off our game and we started sucking at the final part. It took us another 3 hours to beat calus cause of this guy. he wouldn't shut up or let us coordinate. Given I shoulda muted him but still I found it interesting how entitled someone could be.
After the guy left they all apologized and said it wasn't me it was him that they're a huge clan and were willing to do it again with other members regardless but their leader was a child.
Jesus this was my 1st really toxic encounter lol I found it all hilarious at the end of the day its just a game. Why stress? lol hope you guys found this enjoyable and post any bad encounters while saying destiny below I'd love to hear your stories.

2 RepliesI'm a clan leader and when I invite guardians they're welcomed to continue running solo or request a fireteam whenever they're ready - no pressure - only requirement is to chill and have fun
-
Same reason I don't do fantasy sports leagues. Commissioner always gets in the way.
Power Corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely
1 ReplyWhat an ass. Online gaming man, somebody creates a clan and thinks they're now president of gaming.
-
I joined my clan because of LFG cause we were all having a good time sucking at trials. Honestly going into trials screwing around is so much more fun then trying to go flawless and going flawless

Edited by TheTommieC: 9/22/2017 2:23:00 PMlol, I dig the crew you were with. I'm glad no one folded into this "leaders" demands. "Just another day in party chat.." Keep on keeping on, Guardian. 👊

People like that clan leader are the dudes who have nothing going on in their lives and this is the one thing they have control or authority over lol. Sad.
-
1 ReplyAnd this is why I continue to be a solo player. Who needs teammates like him when you can have a pleasant conversation with yourself? It was like that for most of Destiny 1. No one has my back better than I do

The dark below expansion broke me with the LFG sites. I gave up on trying to do raids and other end game content at that point. The internet is dark and full of terrors...

I never did utilise the clan i was with in d1 but ive got a clan now who are laid back and get rowdy when they have fun. If ya'll want a clan full of psychos who are also laid back then look for "purgatory light" on ps4.

Edited by SI-Ded-Eye: 9/22/2017 6:43:09 AMThis is why I joined my clan, few buddies from D1, few from Battlefield 1 and we kinda met up on D2. No stress, laid back laugh a lot and try to move up the light scale. If you need a clan to join, mine is called " Shoot high in the sky". It ain't fancy but it's fun, supportive and stress free. I personally have to work on my Titan and Hunter. I work 2 weeks on and I week off so I'm a little behind, I'll get there when I'm there. If you work and don't have ur toons done, no big deal, someone is usually on.We do PvP-pve and everything in between, so if you like to laugh, have a good time and figure all this out, check us out. Our leader is BFOBS28.

1 ReplyThis is why I'm afraid to join lfg groups. Like, you don't wanna catch these hands.

If it was me I definitely would’ve cussed him out, he probably would’ve had an aneurism with how angry of a person he sounds like
-
I run with randoms (not through raid, just dont have the time) our clan is strictly to our freinds, but we run nf and comp with non members. Tldw there are people as toxic as dark eater midir
if you get that and dont give a shite, tell me!
4 RepliesEdited by U12070628: 9/21/2017 8:31:40 PMWow. They're like -blam!-ing dictators. "DO AS I SAY, WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!" People like that can not be leaders in any way.

30 RepliesAs a clan leader myself, I don't agree with how that guy dealt with the situation or how bitter he was to his clan mates, however I could undestand his perspective. Clans have to deliver their promises and live up to what the clan is mainly focused on, let it be raids, pvp or both. Players come to clans looking to develop friendships and inf solid fireteams as well as get stuff done. The experienced clan members are the ones who deliver that, I'm pretty sure they have a long line of members that need to get it done, that's probably why he was frustrated. No offence to the OP, however just today, my clan equipped two fireteams to help out 2 clan members at a time to do the raid. I'm looking at a list of over 50+ clan members that need to get it done. My clan mates and i are more than willing to help them out, however I would feel soggy if they dropped that list for other people. Because then at that point, we failed our clan mates that waited patiently as we developed our strats to do the raid. I wouldn't have a fit on my clan mates, nor would i barrage the party and act childish about it, however I would tell them that they need to focus on the other clan members who need to get it done afterwards.

1 ReplyIf he made it such a big deal why not invite you into the clan lol

2 RepliesWas this the clan leader?

2 RepliesEdited by Seldser: 9/21/2017 4:07:14 PMMine happened yesterday, found a post saying they needed a 280+ Warlock but no other details. I got in the session just as they finished the Standards for the Gauntlet. I hadn't done this yet, and being honest I told them that. One guy reluctantly explains the encounter, but as we start I get a little confused causing a few wipes, and eventually (like 6 or 7 tries) I take a second too long to kill my Councilor and miss the Projection, but I feel I now have the mechanics down. Suddenly I see in the corner "Kicked from party" and await the inevitable. Then the fireteam leader accidentally promotes me to leader! I considered doing something to get my revenge, but in the end decided to be the better man and re-promote him. He kicked me anyway, but whatever, I joined a fresh run afterwards with a couple newbies and we beat the gardens and Gauntlet fairly easily.

6 RepliesWow. My fears confirmed. You said "funny," but really not funny at all. Horrible. Multiplayer game? No thank you. I'll continue to play mic off with randoms for every feature I am allowed. None of the other "end game" content is so overly awesome as to be worth ANY of this ever.

Edited by Orbital Drop Shock Trooper: 9/21/2017 7:50:22 PMThis is why you join a chill clan with little to no power structures. Bonus points if the players are top tier but non elitist. The reason my clan picked up was because at the height of my Destiny 1 play I was top 500 in K/D in Destinytracker and a ToO Sherpa on Reddit, so I gained a lot of respect from players who stat checked but I chose to form a clan with chill people who I could get along with in chat regardless of their stats. In turn I had people graviitate towards joining my clan because of the social. When the game dropped hard in y2, I pretty much booted everyone out so they could move on and join other clans, knowing mine was inactive and I didn't want to continue playing. The funny thing is, when D2 came out I had messages from people back from 2015 saying how they miss playing and how they had to stop because it was ruining their lives but they were on board for D2 again. Because of how toxic the corporate policy Activision uses, I can't back D2 like I did D1, so the clan will remain desolate. The key point here is to not join a elitist clan, and that comes regardless of skill set. Some of the most elitist people in this game are low tier players. Be best to remember that.

8 RepliesI wanna reply to this post real bad, But my Clan Leader doesn't allow "Unauthorized" forum posts.
-
That just sounds like a whole bunch of people that should be in another clan.
-
Crappy clan leaders soon find themselves member less.

Talk about a douchebag....

2 Replieshahaha iv found this a few times, there are some right muppets out there totally puts you off using the LFG sites to raid but if your like me there's no choice sometimes so its a hit or a miss I stopped trying the last raid from year 1 after a few encounters with people who seemed to struggle with the fact I was Scottish and the chat descended into playground name calling and stupid noises and at 36 i'm a bit past all that pish really its a shame but its also destiny and when the world is full of idiots online gaming just helps bring them all that little bit closer together, for every few decent players there's always a chance the next one is going to be the token pratt

3 RepliesYes and no, over the top but his clan left him behind because he was a bit late by the sound of it.
