Believe so.
All my legendary engrams drop at 300 allowing for a +5 mod to go on.
I've had nothing over 305.

Technically if you can get drops at 300 with slots for +5, the Level cap would be 340. But Bungie as far as I know has themselves said the Cap is 350

Its not a total, I see you did 8x5=40 with the 8 being the number of items with power levels (3 guns, 4 armour, class item) and the 5 being the number each mod will add. But our overall power is an average not a total. Easy mistake to make mate, don't feel too bad.

How do you get 340? Its an average of your gear so if you have all 300 with plus 5 mods on each piece your average power level would be 305

Bungie said cap till prestige raid is 305
