• He teleported. He has the monitor of Halo 05. He can teleport. And they must be sentient. How else can they adapt to any alien lifeform they come in contact with, infect them, and learn how to master everything the thing could do in life and more? I think the flood are quite a bit like the descolda [Edited on 12/8/2005]

 • The flood aren't sentiant life. Remember in 343 Guilty Spark, the first flood you ever see are just the little parasites. The Flood must of somehow been able to remain dormant for a long period without any sort of food. I can only assuem that this is how they remained alive. The Halos were to stop the spread of the flood, not destroy them. [Edited on 12/8/2005]

 • U know what? If halo wiped out life 100000000000000000000 or whatever years in the past, then how did the flood survive? If they survived from the Ark, then i dont think the forerunners would want to bring the flood with them to be spared so they can have a big fight again. If they did, then the forerunners are officially insane

 •
Posted by: Spanish Banana THE POST TO ANSWER EVERYTHING HERE!!! of course i answer this after i read it all. Im gonna repeat alot of stuff thats already been writen but also mention a few new things. The Gravemind sits in one place. He just chills there, happy as a clam. Is this place under the library? It could be, but it doesnt have to be. it doesnt matter. He has tenticels that spread all over the Halo ring. You may ask " How is it possible that his tenticals go ALL over the ring??? your stupid" -blam!- you. your stupid. Think of his tenticals like roots of a tree. Also, since he can reason, he can 'will' where he wants his tenticals to grow to. He is also old. And i mean hella-old. So hes had millenia upon millenia to grow his testicals ... ermmm ... i mean tenticals. anyway ... He grabed the arbiter from under the library and the mc from under the water and pulled them to him. and by 'pull' i mean he teleported them to himself. people say that the gravemind cant teleport things cause you cant 'fuse' penitent tangint to flesh. its PT that does the teleporting. after so much time on that ring, the gravemind opened up little PT and pushed a few buttons, probably went to radio shack and got a spot welder and figured out how to 'make' PT's teleporter work. He can use the rings teleportation grid cause he has penitent tangent stuck/fused with himself in the sense that he knows PT inside and out and has tiny little tenticals through PT to push the right buttons, complet the right cricuts and poof! teleportation. I think its safe to say that you need more engergy for teleporting bigger things then smaller things, also that you need more energy to travel greater distances. he teleported the arbiter and the mc far away cause they are relitively small compaired to the gravemind. the graveminds fat ass doesnt have the power to go all the ways up to high charity. thats why he needed In Amber Clad. and he got it. he most likely got some flood forms on the ship and had the ship swing by where he was sitting and pick him up. he either crawled or walked or skipped (whatever) to the ship or he might of had enough power to teleport himself a few hundred feet from under ground to In Amber Clad's hanger or something. he then flew the rest of the way to High Charity. this is evident in the qotes everyones been throwing around "Silence fills the empty grave now that i have gone...But my mind is not at rest, for questions linger on..." The empty grave is the spot where the gravemind was sitting. he is gone from the empty grave, thats why its silent. hes not there giving orders. where is he? high charity. how did he get there? in In Amber Clad, just like all the other flood forms. people sometimes forget that In Amber Clad is HUGE! it is not the pelican that you see crash infront of you before that checkpoint. its that big ass grey smoking thing stuck in a wall in the distance. and from there the gravemind claimed his new home, his new grave. that or the magic beans theory ... that one sounds good too.
That makes perfect sense, and explains why the In Amber Clad was in HC in the first place. I wonder what the opening sequence of H3 will contian, Cortana's and Gravemind's little talk, MC on the forerunner ship?? The arbitier is just kind of sitting around at the activation site thingy of Delta Halo, duno where he is gonna coem back in.

 •
Posted by: LumberArbiter by using the "magic" dust that comes off him
magic dust or pixie dust? Hey, I took another look at gravemind. I checked out his head and neck from the cutscene, and judging by the size of his neck, he would have a huge body below him. He's a big dude. He might be able to fit in In Amber Clad, but he would have to tear up the inside to fit...

 • Flood can quite happily interact with machine as well as they can living tissue. The Keyes Blob isn't sitting right in the control centre of the Truth and Reconciliation for no reason. Gravemind is obviously an advanced Flood form or some creature infected by the flood - the fusion of his tentacle with Regret and reanimating Regret make this abundantly clear. His breath also looks like flood spores. Gravemind is not a very centric being. He extends from the lake where he grabs the chief, to the bottom of the library where he grabs Arbiter, to wherever his grave is, to the top of the library where Keyes uses one of his tentacles to lean down to the index. From Tangent's battered state, to the dilapidation of many of the mechanisms in the Quarantine Zone and the Library's sorry state it seems that Gravemind has been where he is for some time. So putting all that together it seems reasonable that Gravemind has a working knowledge of how to use the Halo subsystems such as the teleport grid. He is able to teleport Chief to High Charity (High Charity is inside Halo 05's circumference at this point, so within range of the telporter), and teleport Arbiter to spitting distance of the Control Room. He is then, whether personally or through the other Flood forms, able to bring In Amber Clad up to flight status, board it and jump to High Charity. Now on High Charity he can find more hosts for the flood and more transports. Perhaps he even hoped to use High Charity itself as a transport, but was dissapointed when truth pulled the Forerunner ship and left High Charity a powerless hulk.

 • But what bugs me even more is: Gravemind grabbed MC when he landed in the water. So how does Gravemind survive under water? And MC was extremely far from The Library so Gravemind must either be able to use the Grids or must be able to move very fast in the underground of Halo. Does everyone think Bungie will tell us in Halo 3? [Edited on 12/6/2005]

 •
Silence fills the empty grave now that i have gone...But my mind is not at rest, for questions linger on...
The "grave" might be the library. The flood might live under the library (as they do) and it must be silenced since Gravemind commanded his flood to attack and leave that place.

 • I say he did to but maybe he can only teleport him self short distences he is probroly below the library because he's safe from the senitals down there if he wasen't he would have be destroyed.

 • Wait...do u think he was the cause for the lake in Delta Halo?
This lake couldn't have been formed by volcanic eruption...either the lake was built this way on purpose or was caused by some other [big word] mechanism
- Cortana on Regret ???Maybe this is a clue to something else bigger... Well, I wonder how he rhymes...But u do see that High Charity was big... Hey!! I'm pretty sure Gravemind was in library but grabbed MC with his tentacles cuz then u would be able to see his shadow or something in the water. [Edited on 12/5/2005]

 • No, no, no no no. Gravemind CAN'T magically teleport himself, or other Flood forms. Or anything else, for that matter. The Flood threat would be MUCH bigger if that was the case. The Library is inside the Quarantine Zone, beyond Sentinel Wall. Gravemind was inside the Library, together with the rest of the Flood. If he always had the ability to transport himself and his "minions" to ANYWHERE else on the ring - why the heck hasn't he?! Because he can't. 2401 did the teleporting - without manipulation on Gravemind's part. Except maybe psychological manipulation. There's no way that big, fat tentacle could've somehow magically dug into 2401's electronic brain. And again, if he had control of 2410 - why didn't he ever use it up until the point where you see him in the game?

 • gravemind hacked 2401 penitent teangents systems and used him to teleport flood into in amber clad.they then used the in amber clad to fly to high charity.flood in dropships and fighters flew to points in high charity where they could infect host.Gravemind meanwhile made himself smaller so he could fit in in amber clad and when it crashed in high charity he spread his tentacles everywhere.also flood combat forms built flood goo(seen in level high charity.)he could talk and his voice would come out of the goo like a speaker.the goo is also capable of hacking stufff as seen in the crashed pelican.it has flood goo in the front.soon flood combat form made spores(gas that infects host) to infect host.Gravemind seeing the index wasent in high charity anymore told the flood to attack mc on sight
