Engrams dropping lower than current power level
I just started my second character. My first is a lvl 20 Titan. My second is a lvl 12 Warlock. My Warlock is at power 137. The past day or so all my drops have been below my current level. For instance I just completed a heroic public event. My armor engrams and loot chest dropped at 132 and my weapon dropped at 134. That 3-5 below my current level. Same goes for random drops or high values target chests. Something is not working right on drops.

My modded power level is: 305 Kinetic + 305 Energy + 305 Power + 305 Helmet + 305 Arms + 305 Chest + 305 Legs + 299 Mark = a modded average of 304.25 My unmodded power or base level is: 300 Kinetic + 300 Energy + 300 Power + 300 Helmet + 300 Chest + 300 Legs + 294 Mark = an unmodded or base average of 299.25 Beyond the weekly engrams and one shot at the Raid per week, I get 294's, I thought the drop level was supposed to be what your base average is, I wish we could get clarification on the math of how this is calculated, because from where I sit, 294 drops will NEVER help me increase my light/power level, so how is the way loot is handled a good idea? Do they not want us to play beyond the weekly reset? or at all? Unrewarding.

This is happening to me as well, I'm power 271 but engrams drop at 265

3 RepliesThe same thing is happening to me. My unmodded average is 274. lowest light on any item is 269, not a single piece of my gear is below 269 unmodded, and yet no matter what I do, no matter how many legendary, exotic, rare, raid drops whatever, every single thing that drops is 269 unmodded. Every, single drop. You can't tell me thats totally normal, or that I'm missing something. This has been going on for 3 days. EVERY single drop is 269. It has to be a bug of some kind.

I am experiencing the same issue. I ha e no +5 mods and no duplicate classes. My Warlock is stuck at 272 and all engrams are dripping at 272. This seems to be new since Monday refresh. Has anyone from Bungie responded?

Everyday this happens to me.. Also I hardly ever get a mod with my legendary or an exotic out of one.

1 ReplyI had the same issue Saturday night for several hours of game play. I started the night at 279 and ended at 281 (with mods). No matter what the item or engram that dropped, or where I got it from, they ALL dropped at 272. Rares and legendaries were all 272. I had one exotic drop. It was a 277, which is essentially the same as a 272. There is literally no possible way for me to progress beyond 281 at this point while everything is dropping at 272. my lowest item without a power upgrade is 272, so there is no path forward for me at this point. So frustrating!

1 ReplyAs soon as you breach 265 power level, all engrams and vendor rewards will drop between 9-11 power below your level. This isn't a bug, it is by design. You need to get the 'powerful engrams' and exotic engrams from farming and milestones in order to get to max level. I have 3 characters over 300 and my highest is 304. I only drop 294 engrams on my 304.

279 light and all engrams/drops besides exotics seem capped at 271, which is the light level on my weakest piece of ARMOR. Before, when said piece was 269, that was the cap on engrams and drops. The exact moment I infused it with an exotic to 271, the light in everything went up to that. Blue drops, legendary engrams, vendor engrams, etc.

So is this suppose to be a new thing because I'm way below the soft cap and I've been doing heroic events and still can't get past 255

20 RepliesYour exotic drops are always going to drop at or above your light level. Farm the heroic events. Do the Strike. Do the missions for the Strum and Mida. The games working the way it's supposed to. For the guys in this thread that are 290+ and complaining you're not getting good drops, do the harder content or farm exotics. You should know this is not something wrong with the game. You're not going to get better gear unless you do. To get to 280 you need to start infusing exotics into legionaries to boost their base power (keep in mind exotics base power is -5). I'm sitting at 297 and all the exotics I get from farming events are 300+. Weather they are exotics I can use or not is another case. I might already have 305 legs and get a 305 leg drop. The drop is still higher than my power average.

ALL are 284 :/ Pls, if your dying to tell me all about mods, then know that it aint got nothing to do with it! Want one week of milestone-grinding compensated Bungie. I will not play the game, since i can not rise in power anyways, until some kind of reply from Bungie comes forth

2 RepliesI'm having the same problem. Everything I have is 265 right now because my legendary gear won't drop above that. I've gone through over 20 engrams now and they won't go past 265. My character is 272 but that's only because I have mods and infused some of my exotic gear just to try to break through a "barrier" it hasn't helped at all. I've spent three days in a row now playing without getting a single engram over 265. A couple of my other buddies aren't having this problem at all.

7 RepliesDo you have leg mods on some gear? Drops are based on 'real light', that is light without the +5 mods. Any gear with a mod is in fact 5 light lower than displayed: total light = 5from mod + real light.

Yeah I'm having the same issue. Blue, legendary and exotic are all dropping at 272 when I'm at 278. Ive been progressing just fine up to this point. Even my "powerful rewards" from milestones are dropping 272. Those should be higher than anything else but they aren't

Im at 300 on my hunter and my blues drop at 289 or 290 and legendaries are normally 290 or sometimes above.

Same here i'm 297 power lvl and all engrams that i get are 10 or 11 lvl cap under mine power lvl And i used mods.

3 RepliesPs4 Titan #2 power 284 Weapons K-292p E-286p P-276p Armor Helm- 283 Arms-277 Chest-293 Boots-285 Mark-281 However with all these stats and power the nightfall and the flash point luminous engrams have been drooping at 276 power, assumed they cater to the lowest power leveled item however instead i got boots from both both 276 power and useless to me as mine are 9 levels higher power. Bungie please address thia issue!

Mine continually drops 274 gear and weapons. This accounts for Rare, Legendary and some Exotics that have dropped for me. All of my weapons and my gear are 276 and higher, and without mods.

ALL of my luminous engrams have been a lower power level than my current highest in slot items for this week on this character.
