The Cabal ARE Halo grunts
In the lore for skyburners oath it says "Some grunts are made to fight the war" Either they are grunts, they look similiar or Bungie just tossed in an easter egg for old halo players

Grunt is just another way of saying soldiers. The only real connection between halo and destiny is that the cabal enslaved the Psion race and made them fight for the cabal just like the covenant enslaved the unggoy race (The grunts)
