Destiny 2 will be dead by the end of the month...

Saturday, September 16, 2017 5:28 PM Destiny 2, while on the surface has corrected many flaws of the original, ultimately removed the incentives to keep playing past Power Level 270. I love the gameplay that is available to me in Destiny 2 but multiple changes that were NOT requested have me worried that the player base will be gone within the month of September. The following are the changes that I predict will result in the ultimate failure of the series… - Enemies Power Level scales with your current Power Level, making the incentive to reach max Power Level and be able to re-run and demolish older enemies non-existent. Doesn't matter what your Power Level is, enemies are always the same difficulty. No reasons left to play after finishing story/raid. - Trials of Osiris (and presumably Iron Banner) don't have Power Level requirements or enable Power Levels, making earning Raid Gear or higher level gear irrelevant. If you originally felt that PVE was for leveling to be able to be better at Crucible, goodbye to you people. - All legendary weapons are equal, making earning different ones irrelevant. Just pick any old weapon and play. There goes weeks of gameplay. - Exotics are TOO easy to collect and are notably underpowered, really eliminating the need for them at all. I don't even notice my exotic's perks. I have collected nearly all the exotics within a week. What happened to pining for a Thorn for months until you could achieve the quest requirements? The use of exotics as upgrade material devalues them and makes them ordinary. I used to ache and dream about the exotics I wanted but couldn't get. I don't think about Destiny 2 once I put the controller down. - Removal of Grimiore and collectable results in NO OPTIONS but to mindlessly kill people. There is no need to sneak and explorer for the sake of proving you are a serious gamer. All gamers are equal in Destiny 2, removing the incentive to try and be a God. The replacement of this with "investigations' is extremely disappointing. I haven't even listened to one audio byte from my Ghost explaining the thing, there is no proof I investigated it, no record of what I've investigated and I can just keep investigating the same things OVER and OVER. This actually has made the lore far LESS engaging. - Raid rewards are irrelevant and unneeded. Raid rewards used to be the only way to reach max level and thus necessitated playing them. Now it is irrelevant. Also, raid gear used to have special perks that made them superior to regular legendary items. Now, there the same as all the weapons you already have. Everyone in my clan was 290 or above prior to the raid dropping and we have still yet to even enter the raid. We can't figure out a reason why it would be worth the trouble when my level hasn't stopped raising without it. - Story missions were intended for SOLO ONLY and were far too easy, removing the need for you to cooperate with clan members early, and thus makes friends see less value in working with others later when it is necessary. I just keep getting drops from Hawthorne from clan members for doing nothing. Not to mention, no collectables means I never need anyone to show me anything or teach me any tricks to be successful. - There is ABSOLUTELY nothing to buy with earned glimmer or shards. I remember the need for heavy ammo synths was so great and necessary for beating bosses in raids that we used to spend a week grinding just to buy synths from Xur to be able to dominate. That’s all gone now. Glimmer is useless, strange coins don’t exist, and Xur's inventory is a joke. The different types of upgrade materials were at times frustrating, but actually MADE you play all game types to earn the right materials. Now, I don't have to do anything but public events. I'll beat all my friends to max light by simply killing the walkers a 1000 times. In closing, I'm terrified right now because the ONE game I thought I could depend on to keep my poor, moneyless self engaged and not thinking about how little I am able to do in real life is most likely gone. Presumably this was done to attract more novice and uncommitted players to give Bungie their money. But what they've done is created a game with less re-playability than Assassin's Creed games (hilariously easy to wipe in 3 days) and one that will ultimately have NO player base by the time DLC 1 is dropped. Bungie always said that they wanted us to have a game with MAXIMUM re-playability, that required our effort on nearly a daily basis. But these new changes, not to mention the abandonment of the promise to let us keep our characters and gear, has me convinced this is the end of the greatest game ever created. Sad… (normal, grieving voice, not Donald Trump voice)

It wont be dead but D2 is a major step backwards for gamers that liked putting time into this game. Games should be created with incentive. It's what drives gamers wanting things and wanting to spend that time. Leaving the feeling one is being reworded because that is what a Loot based system is meant for beside progression. Not only that but gamers are visual. Bungie has lost site of all of this in D2. 1. This has been mentioned but Strikes are a waste of time knowing one can run 3 public event's in that time and get better rewords with the added bones of exotics and a yellow bar that drops a chest in the surrounding area. Not only that, they are to short fighting the bosses and to long just to speed run because there isn't jack shit to do to interact with the enemy until you get to the boss. It's a major step backwards compared to D1 and that has been happening this way since y1 strikes that IMO are the best strikes this game has offered yet. 2. My biggest gripe right now is (Visual) it is a very important thing in any game nowadays. All the weapons in D2 are the same. Look at all the weapon in Y1 and what they actually did when it comes to effects... It's like they just said F-it just make them plain,WTH were they thinking? This isn't CoD and shouldn't be treated like a normal PvP game like that. Weapons that just shoot bullets... I found only 1 weapon that actually does something other then just shoot bullets. It's a scout rifle that burns the enemy and they explode. 3. Ammo, Who's bright idea was it to have gamers run quest and remove having heavy ammo drop and call it a "challenge" If they are going to make this game for casual gamers at least give them their ammo if it's not going to drop by letting gamers buy some from the Gunsmith or Xur and allow them to play the game. I don't 'Need" To spend wasted time pecking at a sponge with 2 weak primaries when I can use my heavy here and there to get the quest done by myself. Stretching out the encounter is not a "challenge" period. It's a waste of time that is boring as hell. 4. A timer on nightfall? Put the nightfall back how it was and let gamers play how they want to play. This is Nonsense. Make it optional by keeping the timer for certain quest like the one exotic that to get it by completing it 5 min before the time is up. If you don't have a quest etc. let us be able to take our time and play it how I want to. Not speed run the thing running past everything as fast as you can because of a stupid timer. 5. A slight increase in super and grenade charge is needed. I said slight, I already know how PvP gamers cry about, every single thing in this game that kills them. The only time I feel I'm having fun so far using my abilities is on titan running the Hive public event in the dark room where you actually get the visual of things being destroyed and lighting up that entire room with everyone going off big time having fun. That is what made Y1 fun... Feeling like you had power and you knew most things worked across the entire board. 6. I really hope there is going to be more events added to this game like POE with raids. Running public events and strikes are not going to cut it especially since there really is no incentive in D2 at this point with the lack of rewards running the raid. I think I'll pass on the raid until Bungie starts actually rewording gamers for that time spent running it. From what I been seeing with the post blowing up the forum. It's a waste of time as of now. These are some of the things that need to be improved and for a company that has been working on this game for 10 years with thousands and thousands of post and other sites etc... of feedback, there is no excuse for this game to be lacking so much compared to D1.

      • I agree with this post whole heartedly I played D1 for years, but I'm severely disappointed with the end game content and pvp. The raid was always the pinnacle of this game you raid and get gear that gave you a sense of accomplishment stuff you wanted to show off the armor in it now has no unique raid perks which I can deal with but having drop at lower light levels is insulting and the guns themselves have no unique perks or enhancements they are essentially the same as any other legendary guns. Where is the incentive then? I have no problem getting one or two drops a run but those drops should be something you get overly excited about if I'm 285 and the drop I get doesn't outrank what I already have I feel like I just wasted hoursss of my time. The PVP is an even bigger step backwards the team shooting aspect really doesn't encourage casual gamers even when I'm PVPing with my clan I'm not having fun grouping up and camping lanes with scout rifles and this strategy is perfectly personified in trials where every player has to have a scout rifle equipped and the extent of the game is spent dipping in and out of cover trying to get that first one or two downs before rushing in and cleaning up. Half the map is essentially inaccessible because you would have to cross a lane being camped and would be shot down before making it halfway across. I have always mainly played PVE but when trials or iron banner was on the way I would switch over and work on improving my crucible skills I was never amazing but with some practice and a little communication I could win get gear and enjoy the events thouroughly. Sadly that is no longer the case. I hope these things change but if not then there's really nothing for most people to do anymore and it simply won't last. I'm not even looking forward to the next two expansions I already paid for. I can appreciate those sticking up for bungie but I promise most of you will be playing another game in a few months.

      • Totally agree. D2 ain't d1 and I'm already bored. The scaling of enemies is dumb. Not feeling op what's the point. Went from this is awesome to I hate killing everything with a primary. I'll be back in December maybe

      • They definitely took some huge steps backwards. There's no real reason to get the raid loot, because normal legendary items have the same qualities minus the power level, but that's where infusion comes in. The raid gear offers no additional bonus to certain enemies or sections like that of the D1 raid gear. Massive letdown. There's no real reason to play except on reset, wait a week, rinse and repeat. Exotics aren't even exotic, anymore. You literally start the game each day and it hands you 10 of them.

      • I beat the game me and (wife) 6-8 hours and now after we beat it ran some strikes etc. here it is a couple weeks later and she does not want to play anymore and when I do I have to force myself to, and it's just me grinding merchants and random I mean real random drops for higher light gear that 260-270 grind bull crap. Not having much fun doing that.. seems to be the consensus same problems destiny vanilla had, will end up being a hard core fan base game if you ask me. To many other games out there, and the only thing that can push or make bungie stop being lazy is anthem, being A BIG HIT... might get a 2k vs Ea kinda competition. Who knows maybe we will get more stuff to do soon. Where is the queen btw?

          • In my opinion your all full of yourselves. Why do you people hope a game will be fixed by DLCs? A game should be complete day1. Bungie wanted D2 to cater toward a player who isn't a regular player. They accomplished that, pve is ridiculously easy, so you can solo and pvp is even easier to where all you need to do is get a hit marker. For pvp: Assists should not be apart of you kill/death ratio, notice there is no assist in the ratio... It takes all you have to kill a guardian and if another one comes around you still have a 50/50 at surviving... I don't know whether to be mad or not because I have been on both sides. In D1 supers were feared, in D2 they are a joke. And all you need to do to succeed in a clan pvp match is to be joined at the hip, instant loss for randoms. I always enjoy a challenge in pvp but going against clans in D2 it's impossible. For pve: Strikes used to be fun and one of the best ways to get loot. Now there is no point to strike. I like everything scaling to me to add to the challenge but there is no point if the rewards are worst then the ones i already have on top of the time it takes to complete. I like the added nightfall challenges, gives the team something to work for. There isnt much to say about strikes as it isnt the end game content. For general: Exotics are way too easy to get even though my good ol bungie rng is still trash. Certain exotics used to actually have value to try and get. As a collector I don't like most of the exotics, I only use 3-4, in D1 I would use 50% of the exotics. Also brings up the underwhelming uniqueness to any weapon. The armor based mods almost saves this, which confuses me. I don't understand why the armor is customizable but not the weapons. On another note why they spend millions of dollars on advertisement is beyond me but what a waste. Should have devoted it to servers or the game. In sum D2 is a reflection on how much the world has changed in the fact that everyone has to be equal, everyone deserves a trophy, everyone wins. Life is not that way and it shouldn't be like that in D2. If you beat a raid or go flawless in trials you should have better rewards. This is a game, who cares about rewarding people who can't compete or make friends. As a max grimore player in D1, this game is just sad. A thing to note: this is a game, life doesn't evolve around it so people need to get over it.

          • I don't think it's going to die but it's going to see a major drop off between DLCs, I'm not even going to grind for exotics I just want my mida back and that's about it. The game needs more story as others have mentioned, more random RPG style side quests like helping folks or literally just being hired to explore areas. I like a lot of the changes they made but a lot of them make this feel like a 20.00 bargain bin game. It used to be when you got an exotic folks would celebrate now it's like it doesn't matter. As for the raid: from all the feedback i've seen on here it's better to just skip the raid as the rewards aren't worth the time an aggravation. Which is pretty much the story of every raid after the VOG and that issue comes straight from Luke Smith.

          • If Bungie regularly updates every month, then the game should last. The following should be on their to-do list. #1: NPC & Interactions With the Player Character now a silent protagonist, this is the perfect moment to introduce NPC conversation and interactions like we have seen in Elder Scrolls and previous Fallout games. Give the player another avenue to learn about the world while also establishing relationships with characters. Make the Ghost a character we can interact with. Who we can ask questions. Who we can develop a connection with. No one cared about the Last City because they never had any opportunity to talk with them. RPGs make sure that their worlds are Full of characters for players to interact with, both large and small, that make it feel alive. #2: Side Quests This goes back to adding more NPCs. Adding a plethora of side quests to the various NPCs gives the players reasons to explore the environments. They can be tiny things like; “Please find my Spouse/Child/Pet”, “Please check out this dungeon”, “Please escort me to a location”, etc. little things that flesh out the world. But also having Long storylines that don't pertain to the main story is very important as well. Side Quests also serve as a great way to flesh out the world. #3: Wildlife Destiny takes place 1000 years in the future. I'm sure with nature taking over, and who knows what was done in the golden age, that there are plenty of fauna for players to see running around. Deer, Elk, Wild Dogs, Birds, maybe a bear, etc. The world is a big place, fill it. Just like NPCs, open world games feel empty without wildlife. #4: character creation I would think that when you take advantage of creating a sequel and implement a better character creation. Simply put we need more options when creating a character. We have very few faces to choose from and we can't customize facial features such as, the nose, ears, mouth, eyes, chin, cheekbones, eyebrows, etc. Also where are the beards? There's a character we meet in destiny 2 who has a beard, but we can’t get one? #5: Lore This is the Big One. Like other Story heavy games, have a lore codex that players can look at in the game. Have it start out with any basic information the player is curious about, then have it update with each new finding, encounter, and as you progress through the story. Also put Books, Journals, Audio files, Drawings, etc. things that players can check out. Fill the ruins of humanity with lore about the Golden Age. Having the option to ask the Ghost questions about the world, would be a great way to introduce and immerse players into the universe. But Make sure that lore can be talked about through NPC interaction. (The Fact that DOOM has a better lore system is troubling, considering story doesn’t matter in that game at all.) This one is more of a nitpick #6: Camera Give the players the option to move between first and third person perspective. Don't make it so they have to use first in combat and third in social. Forcing different camera perspectives takes away immersion and leaves the player with less options. That's my take on what the game is missing and would really have made it one of the next Great Games. I think that Bungie really should have gone all out and overhauled the game when they had a chance.

Due to. -raid and rewards suck -4v4 crucible sucks, no choice, team shot or lose -timed nightfall sucks -strikes are utterly useless -shader system sucks -infusion system sucks Destiny 1 was for players that wanted to grind, players who sought rewards for their time. Destiny 2 was made for all the crying bitches, who wanted everything to be equal, so they could feel strong. Well now we're all equal. Look what equality gets ya, a boring ass game.

                • While I don't think it will "die" that quickly I will say that it isn't nearly as fun as D1 was. I don't know what it is exactly but the fun factor has dwindled significantly. You're right about power levels, they are basically just a testament of how much you've grinded but don't really matter otherwise. The supers are really only good for clearing trash mobs, which is really belittling to what guardians are supposed to be about. Oh, and as a player, they just feel terrible. The crucible has been terrible. I played 3 games yesterday where both my team and the enemy team were invisible except for their guns and gamertags. Additionally, it seems that everyone else's gun is better than yours, especially when you are killed by the same gun you yourself are wielding. The reward system seems rather un-rewarding. I cleared 4 sections in that pathetic new raid last night only for no rewards for me or any of my teammates, yet if we had used that time to do public events, would be swimming in useful gear and planetary materials... I'm not sure what happened to Destiny. The artists did a phenomenal job on literally everything while the rest of it is already losing it's new car smell.

They released a Beta version, each month will bring "new content" which was already in D1, also a change to sandbox so the weapon you grinded for to level up to Max level is irrelevant.... Been saving all legendaries but honestly don't even care to keep playing, they got my money and two weeks of my time, if I'm this bored tomorrow after reset then goodbye Destiny

Forgot the satire tag buddy. Destiny 1 was supposed to be "dead after a year" and it lasted longer than most "better" triple A games. Destiny 2 WILL NOT die at the end of the month, destiny 2 WILL NOT DIE after next month. If we judge ttk based off of the same stuff you stated ttk should have been dead in a week, but it didn't because not everyone's in it to speed run the game. The raid rewards from destiny have never really had relevance outside of pve and even then most raids weapons were not best suited for anything outside of the raid. Power rank in ToO never determined a players skill level but rather the amount of time they had to grind, by removing it they removed that stupid bull crap that gave players with more time on their hands an UNNEEDED advantage. Exotics drop frequently and they suck, so why should they be harder to get whilst still sucking? Make them better, make them harder to get. Grimoire did nothing other than distract players from the SEVERE lack of in game story. The story in the original was bare bones and could be soloed just as easily as destiny 2's maybe it was even easier. Glimmer never really had a purpose other than for applying cosmetic crap and infusion. Enemies not power scaling prevented destiny 1 from ever really being difficult, now of course I understand the whole "power fantasy" thing, but why would you want weaker and easier to kill enemies after reaching a higher level? That excuse people make isn't enough to keep others like myself attached to the game and it ruins replayability between strikes, nightfalls, and missions altogether. Borderlands makes this VERY clear of how boring it is to kill lower level weapons. The lore on weapons, although confusing, is far more convenient than reading grimoire on my phone, in fact, I never read any of it anyways BECAUSE of that. And I have the stupid grimoire emblem so you know I at least looked for it, but not because I wanted to read it, but because it made me feel better :3 Also I believe the reason the campaign feels so easy is because you've played the game for so long that you got better. Take for example halo 2 campaign on legendary: It's hard as balls but once you get a handle of it after failure after failure you will improve, so when they created halo 3, did that experience just disappear? No absolutely not. So to YOU the game will be dead in a month, but I had fun during trials and i still need to get the raid done so I still have things to do. Considering how I've been playing it exclusively for 2 weeks straight, the only thing that's stale to me are strikes and the story missions. I can't even imagine how much more boring these strikes would be if they only tickled my health -_-

                  • The game wont die, and there are a few reasons. 1: A good amount of the player base is still stuck at 265 as they struggleto beat the nightfall let alone have attempted the raid. 2: The raid is alot more challenging then any past raid, thus making it more fun. If you are a true fan of Destiny then you are here for the grind and the challange of the raid and everything the game has to offer. 3: Getting rewards for completing a raid instead of at each section makes people want to learn how to complete the raid not just how to get carried. If you are in the raid to get carried chances of completing a raid are almost non-existant. =================== Now not everyone will agree but thats why life has choices. It's up to you to pick what will do with your time. Just do what pleases you most

I started the raid today, got to the gauntlet, wiped four times and I just turned the game off. It was exceptionally dull and tedious. I don't see this game improving much if at all for the better. The whole game is just lazy and poorly executed.

                    • It won't be dead, but I completely agree. Very unimpressed with the loot so far. The meta in trials is a slightly better scout rifle (MIDA). Other than that the loot is terrible and not worth the grind. They dumbed down the game far too much. D1's crucible with the exception of lag completely destroys this crap. It was NOT a step forward in D2. Waste of a $100.

I agree for the most part, but don't think it will die that soon. Everyone used to say D1 is dead yet it never truly died and people still play to this day. I agree the main story is a little to easy, in fact I posted a thread earlier of how I was bored so I deleted my Hunter and played thru the main story again using only Hand Cannons / Side Arms and a Sword and plan on doing a Titan with Mele and Sword only. I never did the final Raid in D1 knowing that nothing was going to carry over made me just not want to invest the time and I LOVED VoG! So I see no reason to play this Raid unless Iam just completely bored with a few hours to kill. Everytime I turn around I am maxed out on glimmer and really have know idea what to do with it. I love the game and it is the one game that keeps pulling me back in even after long breaks. I really think that helps by the way... Play another game for a week / month or longer or put a challenge together to test yourself and your skill. After I complete the Titan mele / sword run I am considering a NO die run. I know this was done in D1 and think I might give it a go in D2.

This game is way better than d1 and I've been here since d1 beta. The game is still new, give bungie a freaking break you big whiners,if not just uninstall it if you're unhappy.no one is forcing you to play it. What you expect bungie to bring everything out at once? Sorry pal but not gonna happen. Nuff said
