I don't find timed nightfalls fun

Obviously it's all about personal opinion and what you find fun. In D1, even though I'm a fairly 'casual' player when it comes to intensity, I quite enjoyed taking my time with a team systematically working my way through a nightfall. The timed aspect has really taken the fun out of it for me. Too frantic. Too easy to ruin with a few errors. I guess it's because I play games for 'fun' more than I do 'challenge' and that's why I don't find the rush aspect fun at all. Just some feedback. I know players who play for challenge will like it, but timed aspects to games or missions has always felt like 'artificial' difficulty added on if you know what I mean. ***Edit *** As per a lot of people's great ideas, a tiered system would be great. Either one nightfall where running out of time gives bronze rewards. Within a certain amount of time left gives silver rewards and with a lot of time left, gold rewards. Other option is 2 nightfalls, regular version with no time for decent rewards and a timed version for top tier rewards.

  • I agree with you 100%. I like taking my time with the nightfall and having fun with friends on it, but now it's push push push and really does take the enjoyment out of it. If you want timed then do the timed bounty again from d1. Then people who like to push, can. Those who want to enjoy and appreciate the world should be able to do so as well. So far I am underwhelmed with D2 and the only reason I have run the nightfall for D2 was for rat king and once I got that I haven't even looked at the nightfall since

  • Im finding the whole game just lacks the fun factor. i used to spend hours in D1 just running around shooting stuff, do a few strikes or patrols but this game lacks the draw of making me want to play it. the challenges reset every day, so unless you have time to complete it (especially strike and crucible ones) then theres no point in doing them. at least with D1 bounties i could take as long as i wanted to do them and the strikes only give out blue engrams and a few legendary if youre lucky, but they dont decrypt at a higher light level

Destiny 2 is fun till the endgame then it's just down hill from there, raid is fun but just overly complicated to the point were nobody feels it's fun, combat feels less fluid and more generic, flashpoints are just a sorry excuse of a activity, caydes treasure maps suck, getting shaders and exotics just doesn't make you feel exited anymore probably do to them being as common as legendarys in destiny 1, the whole loot system and progression system take the fun out of getting loot. I could go on for paragraphs about what bungie has F@#%ed to shit in destiny 2, i hope the 1st DLC fix's this or i'm dropping destiny 2. In truth they changed destiny itself at it's core, when they should have left it, many thing that made destiny 1 extremely fun and addictive are gone or changed.

      • yeh i think timed stuff encourages & leads to people cheesing & glitching content to get it done instead of just enjoying doing the content, i think the timer should be an option cos it definitely sucks the fun out of it for a new player like me, maybe if the jumping wasn't a thing y'know. I like the jumping but don't like my shooter rpg morphing into a crap platformer.

A couple of friends who'd done it offered to take me through as they're trying out the Guided Games mode. We beat it with a couple of minutes to spare and all, but... I didn't really enjoy it. I just played follow-my-leader and rushed through a strike I hadn't played since the beta. To me it felt like Sparrow Racing. But without the Sparrows.

        • Teaching Bad Habits . I did'nt mind the straight 30 min timer but this seems to teach it more important to skip parts and run past enemies. Just like the randoms in strikes who run ahead and to team wipe. The strategy to take out all enemies is better. The ring jumps are cool and if it was to open a section ahead. That would have been fine. The clan players who had better time ran past more stuff kinda contrary to the bases of playing ?

        • I think its fair to say, Bungie are trying something different for NF and hats off to them. I have beat NF several times with my group and I can honestly say I don't like this format. That's just me though. If the majority of people prefer this format, then fine I'll live with it, but for me it's no way near better than NF year 1 team wipe back to orbit IMO.

        • Agreed. If anything, bungie should remove the timer and replace it with a unique challenge with every type of strike.for example the bond brothers in D1. The chaperone quest required you to kill both of them with shotgun kills. Put that same concept in the nightfall. Examples like only being able to kill the boss with a sniper, or with void, arc and solar burn. There could be plenty of options to give it a challenge, and I think the timer is just a unfun way of implementing that

Instead of having to rush the strike and jump through stupid luminous hoops to gain more time, shooting enemies should give you more time on the countdown. Anyway a timed Nightfall is dumb, I prefer being shot back to orbit if all team members die.

        • You and me man. Like i said in another topic afew days ago, shooting to get time i understand, the jumping aroun no. It`s silly and not funny at all. I`ll do the nightfalls 1 time per week and no more.

        • Just chiming in - I do not like the timed nightfalls at all. Haven't even had a hard time doing them, they just aren't fun. I loved the nightfalls in D1. I even liked the Black Spindle quest as a one off thing, but the nightfalls now just aren't enjoyable for me.

          • The issue here is your missing the point of nightfall. Nightfall are not supposed to be fun they are supposed to be a challenge. The issue is any one who played during year one of D1 will know. You had to work hard to finish a nightfall and if you screwed up that was it back to orbit you go... Sadly overtime people started finding exploits and people quickly learnt how to cheese every single boss in the game. The issue being most of these bosses would take time to cheese. So now in destiny two bungle decided to go one step further. They know people will find exploits. That is a basic diet of destiny players to find the quickest way to do every thing. So we have now been given a timer that forces you to play the game more towards the intended direction. I hated the old games were you would have one person just camp in a cheese for 20 minutes just to make sure we would win. Now every one is working as a team and every one actually enjoys completing the nightfall rather than it being a weekly chore like destiny1

            • Soooo y'all want the game to be easy? Good God there is no satisfaction in gaming if its not challenging. People are butt hurt because they cannot beat certain missions and get good gear. While the key is simple, practice until you get better.

              • The game easy enough already. Public events alone give out exotics. Call to arms is extremely easy. Clan XP is extremely easy. They all game powerful gear rewards. Got leave some of the extreme challenge in there. To remove the timer then all other milestones like flashpoints need to remove powerful gear rewards. It's there for the players who want a harder challenge. If they made the game any easier we might aswell play Lego games. I do respect you don't like it but many other ways to get powerful gear

              • I don't like it either, the DPS on enemies is too high to run through and you're completely surrounded by enemies at the boss... I hate timers anyway, it's not fun for me personally... just annoying.

                • The issue is, Bungie wants you to enjoy their game and have fun, but in one of the biggest pieces of end game content they want you to rush through it? Yeah that makes sense. There are plenty of other ways to make it more challenging without a timer, so casuals can complete it, and try-hards can get their try-harding jollies. A timer is an artificial difficulty enhancement.

                • I agree it is a lazy difficulty increase on their part. But I think so far the two strikes have been easier than D1 non cheese nightfalls. Which I would prefer they were intense as can be and so satisfying to beat. If your coders really can't patch cheeses than you need some new team members. But if you wanna keep the timers that fine, my clan isn't having any troubles with them.

                • I wouldn't mind timed Nightfalls if instead of kicking you back to orbit when the timer runs out, they just rewarded you for beating the timer. Kinda like what they do with M+ in WoW, you have a timer, if you miss the timer you still finish the dungeon but with the lowest rewards and a key downgrade. But if you beat the timer you have a chance of extra loot and a key upgrade (difficulty upgrade) with a potential of even better loot. It's the easiest solution to suit everyone, people who want a challenge can push themselves for potentially greater rewards by beating it ahead of time and people who want a more relaxing or "get the nighfall out of the way" atmosphere can do so.
