I don't find timed nightfalls fun

Obviously it's all about personal opinion and what you find fun. In D1, even though I'm a fairly 'casual' player when it comes to intensity, I quite enjoyed taking my time with a team systematically working my way through a nightfall. The timed aspect has really taken the fun out of it for me. Too frantic. Too easy to ruin with a few errors. I guess it's because I play games for 'fun' more than I do 'challenge' and that's why I don't find the rush aspect fun at all. Just some feedback. I know players who play for challenge will like it, but timed aspects to games or missions has always felt like 'artificial' difficulty added on if you know what I mean. ***Edit *** As per a lot of people's great ideas, a tiered system would be great. Either one nightfall where running out of time gives bronze rewards. Within a certain amount of time left gives silver rewards and with a lot of time left, gold rewards. Other option is 2 nightfalls, regular version with no time for decent rewards and a timed version for top tier rewards.

  • I am elderly and just have not been quick enough yet to get through the nightfall. I wish they had left if alone; make it very difficult, but let you get through hat your own pace.

  • Bungie only put the timer on it to force solo players like me to find a team. I used to beat the nightfalls solo all the time in D1. Even in year 1 when it would kick you to orbit if you died. All without cheesing too, I've been kicked from so many teams for refusing to cheese it ain't funny!

  • I mean nigthfalls shouldn't be catered to casuals... whats wrong with actually having to do it within a time frame and not just sitting there trying to cheese your way through something by waiting to stock up on heavy ammo like in D1. D1 Nightfalls were so simple and took 0 effort. I mean there are lot of things that shouldn't be catered to casuals. I mean why are you playing a game with mmo features. I dont wanna sound like an elitist or anything but most of the time casuals ruin mmos and games like this almost every time. You cant really blame devs because there are usually more casual players than hardcore and player count matters a lot more. But I really dont want easy nightfalls. I need a sense of urgency and what not. Now I am not saying they need to make the time limit ridiculous but I feel a time limit is a good thing. I mean the game is new so I would understand not wanting to be rushed but after awhile I feel most people wouldn't give a damn and would want a timer. Another note. Why in the actual hell do people WANT to solo things. I mean shit if you don't have friends playing thats your problem. But you shouldn't even be allowed to solo a raid or anything with difficulty at all or ever unless it is old content. I mean damn

    • Agreed. I hate time limits in general for activities as a personal preference but this just drains the fun. I wanna b able to mess around and troll my friends while playing. But the time limit makes it impossible to mess around and have fun. It makes it so serious and leaves no room for banter. Then u get the anxiety of the slow parts beyond your control like the minute it takes to get from one encounter to another or literally anything that requires waiting

    • I agree. The timer sucks all of the fun out of the nightfall for me. I realize some people like it, and that's cool, but clearly many people don't. How it should work (in my humble opinion) is like this - keep the timer. But if time runs out, nothing happens. You and your team can take all day to finish and get your rewards like always. However, if you complete it with time remaining you get an extra engram for your extra efforts. Just my two cents....

        • I totally agree. If it was just an occasional effect then sure but it really removes the fun of actually playing the strike. I want to experience the game not be rushed through.

        • Has bungie even addressed the fact that 99% of players can't stand the nightfall timer?

          • Yea, timed Nightfalls are pretty lame. I would rather take my time and work through the strike instead of rushing through.

          • NF are fairly easy, left with enough time. Prestige NG which I did yesterday was hard to complete. I can only say I don't agree with not allowing additional time when a mate is dead. Especially the drill part before Inverted Spire boss. Drill Cosby knocks everyone out and has caused 3 losses on Prestige NF because the remaining players couldn't get time.

          • The nightfall was something I used to look forward to in year 1 Destiny, it was a true, shooter challenge and you faced the prospect of being booted to orbit if you weren't good enough. Now we have a Crash Bandicoot style nightfall that isn't a challenge at all. Anyone can run past enemies, anyone can hop on their sparrow to avoid actually shooting enemies. What happened to actually shooting enemies in a shooter game? Some people will use excuses like "But players learnt how to cheese", well a 10 minute nightfall seems much easier than a cheese that takes 30 minutes plus, where you actually have to shoot things and use skill. Make the nightfall more difficult by either upping the AI or simply add more enemies, adding a timer IS an artificial way of upping the difficulty, I don't enjoy something I can clear in 10 minutes or less, that to me IS NOT a challenge. A team with just 1 decent player will p*ss this new style nightfall.

          • I think the Prestige should be timed and the normal nightfall should not be timed, same modifiers though and keep challenges like they do in strikes. Rewards commensurate to each.

            • I agree i cant stand this timed crap. I guess i wont be playhing nightfalls. Hell I may as well take my game back to game strop for a refund. Cant play night falls, I'm sure ill never get into a raid ( just like destiny 1) There is no sense in playing . Ive reached as far as I can go. power 266. I'm assuming if you cant night fall or raid you cant reach the power cap?

                • Honestly, timed events don't add difficulty. I know people who have anxiety problems and can't really function with a timed event because they cause panic attacks. The hardest part to any higher level activity will always be finding other people capable of doing the event, who want to do the event. Just look at the first raid. Leviathan is an easy raid; the communication required for leviathan is very difficult with random people. When the raid is considered hard because the gameplay is simple, but the required communication is difficult, it's poorly designed. Leviathan is artificially difficult. Don't get me wrong, I prefer rushing through content like strikes as fast as I can; but I don't expect anyone else to want to rush through content. But timers make players feel like they need to rush.

                • They should change up the timer mechanic. I mean still keep it timed but instead of it counting down it times you on how long you take to complete it. The faster your time the better your loot and XP. Just my personal opinion on it

                • I agree. I can see how some people might enjoy it. But having the slightest mishap being the cause for failing the strike is disheartening. My squad got all the way to the last stage. Had a sliver of health left. But ran out of time. Bam. No rewards. No XP worth talking about. Just frustration.

                  • I agree completely, it isnt a "fresh" mechanic as it was done in Sonic, Wipeout and numerous other point a to point b games. It feels like a mechanic that is separate to the rest of the game, which is about killing stuff, so here we have a mechanic that is not about killing stuff its about navigating gates and to be efficient about it you have to avoid killing stuff, not really a good recipe imo. The good news is though that if you remove this mechanic you still have a nightfall, I am assuming that's why it was done in such a fashion, so its easy to remove and has minimal impact on the rest of the instance by doing so. I think a better mechanic, if they wanted to go with a timed theme, would be to have seconds added for each kill with varying amounts from trash to gold bars to bosses, it would certainly fit better with the overall game theme. I would prefer they took the timed mechanism out altogether though.

                  • Mandatory timed Nightfall sucks. I looked forward to running them solo each week as a challenge. Now that is completely gone. Now it is more of a "rush to the end" strike.

                  • The timed nightfalls to me are okay, but they're not as fun as D1 nightfalls were. I enjoyed being able to take my time, and I liked the fact that the D1 nightfalls forced you to work as a team rather than just run and kill enemies as fast as you can.

                  • I agree with you 100%. I like taking my time with the nightfall and having fun with friends on it, but now it's push push push and really does take the enjoyment out of it. If you want timed then do the timed bounty again from d1. Then people who like to push, can. Those who want to enjoy and appreciate the world should be able to do so as well. So far I am underwhelmed with D2 and the only reason I have run the nightfall for D2 was for rat king and once I got that I haven't even looked at the nightfall since
