I don't find timed nightfalls fun

Obviously it's all about personal opinion and what you find fun. In D1, even though I'm a fairly 'casual' player when it comes to intensity, I quite enjoyed taking my time with a team systematically working my way through a nightfall. The timed aspect has really taken the fun out of it for me. Too frantic. Too easy to ruin with a few errors. I guess it's because I play games for 'fun' more than I do 'challenge' and that's why I don't find the rush aspect fun at all. Just some feedback. I know players who play for challenge will like it, but timed aspects to games or missions has always felt like 'artificial' difficulty added on if you know what I mean. ***Edit *** As per a lot of people's great ideas, a tiered system would be great. Either one nightfall where running out of time gives bronze rewards. Within a certain amount of time left gives silver rewards and with a lot of time left, gold rewards. Other option is 2 nightfalls, regular version with no time for decent rewards and a timed version for top tier rewards.

    Timed Nightfalls do not convey what a Nightfall is. They were hard and punishing. If they wanted to make a new event based around speed challenges cool but to take away the only end game activity that you could solo or 2 man at your own pace because of timers really ruins things. I used to enjoy slow rolling my way through solo or with my buddy. It wasn't easy but it was rewarding. Edit: Just tried a few runs solo. Not only does the timer suck. These modifiers for extending are just as bad. I needed jump through rings, but they don't stay out long. No way am I going to have enough time to collect them. Be pretty hard with 2 people. I do not like being rushed. It isn't going to make for interesting fights, just frustration. If my friend doesn't want to give it a few goes this week maybe I'll try a guided game.

    • agree. I was used to run nightfall for fun, with clan mates or friends. now feels just like skip, kill where you are forced in order to open door and proceed, skip, skip more, beat boss. way better the old stay alive or go orbit. but it's just my opinion. there can still be timer for exotic quest, weekly special rewards...but let us play harder strike without this rush and skip.

    • I like the idea of there being two options, a timed one for those who love the challenge and speed running things, and an untamed one for those of us who are more deliberate when we play.

      • Totally agree with a timed version vs a non-timed version or a bronze silver gold system. Personally I find the timer heaps of fun and a real rush when our team actually pulls it off. But it can be super frustrating as well, and not in a good way. Could be nice to have options and opening for certain rewards....kinda like heroic public events.

        Not a fan either... I would rather welcome increased power level reqs. then running past trough it like a maniac. The rings are especially annoying. Trying to run past the rotating drills in this weeks nightfall is a pain in the bum and super annoying. Not only you have to run trough power level 300 enemies that SUDDENLY forget to shoot the NPC enemies they were fighting against and instantly feel like shooting you together, but also avoiding the drills AND hit the rings aswell at the same time...

      • I enjoy a challenge, but Inverted Spire this week has been ridiculous, its already one of my least favourite strikes. Regardless of strike though, i would definitely go for a two tiered system so we have a choice of the challenge. Without the timer we could have certainly knocked off a "standard" Inverted Spire nightfall, before then deciding on going for a timed version.

        • I agree that it sucks, but it makes you have to strategize with your team, which is awesome. Plus, after you beat it, you feel like a champ because it is hard. Prestige is a rush. Took our team a few tries, but we figured out how to play together. It felt amazing when we got our NF auras.

          • The nightfall is meant to be a challenge and I personally think the timer on nightfalls is a great idea. It gives you that constant focus on the strike as you don't want to loose time. I preferred killing enemies for extra time over the ring jumping. It just felt like every kill mattered. The ring jumping promoted skipping areas and if you messed up a ring phase you couldn't really pull it back. I actually enjoy the nightfalls now and it's much improved over its previously boring slow slog though. Just hope Bungie doesn't listen to the complaints and sticks with this concept.

              • I first disliked your post but after a while I knew what you were saying. This is great feedback! As a D1 player I think timed should be out of the option because it [u]is[/u] just a [b]SKIP SKIP -- beat boss[/b] thing. It's not fun. I want to defeat enemies that are challenging, not just fight certain enemies in order to advance and then skip an entire area [u]because it's possible.[/u] I hope they look into your post because I want this to be changed too 😤😩👍🔥

              • Agreed. Day one player here and I preferred the old system off boot to orbit for failure. I want to shoot enemies not run past them because I have a time limit. It defeats the purpose of the issues of speed runners in D1 that just wanted to end the strike asap. I play it for fun first and a good challenge not a speed run. Stupid idea.

After finishing the raid or for those of you who have, there is 300lvl arms dealer quest strike that's timed and starts at 7 min oh and there's no time hoops or anything else you just have 7 min.....like what the actual F

              • Agree. Timed as only option for NF rewards is lame. Speed runs are usually for people bored with actually playing the game, so they skip chunks of content. I don't want too speed run. I did it. It's not overly difficult. Just not as fun. imo

                  timed anything is never fun. nightfall was challenging enough as it is, especially with prestige option, just remove the timers. Also take the stupid respawn token thing out of the raid and put it in the nightfall. *i was suprised to see that everyone could just die and keep respawning*

                • Agreed. Who came up with that idea should look at player diversity...Nightfall isn't working like this. The problem is we have no choice in game play or tactics ,. If bungie continues to tie players hands on game options and tactics, it will become a problem and they will have players leave.

                • Destiny 1 had it right, tiered Rewards, Gold if you finished it in a certain time, silver in another time frame and bronze if you completed but over the time

                  • I am elderly and just have not been quick enough yet to get through the nightfall. I wish they had left if alone; make it very difficult, but let you get through hat your own pace.
