How the hell do i rank up!
So im 277, my primary is 289, special is 277, heavy is 279.
My helmet is 279, gauntlets 271, chest 279, boots 271 and bond 277.
No matter what activity i do every legendary engram decrypts at 271 and exotics 276.
I play crucible alot and was under the impression that drops from crucible can drop up to max light.
I do public events normal and herioc, lost sectors the lot.
I dont do raids and havnt done a nightfall yet.
Thia should have no baring though on my drops, why wont they decrypt above 271.
Please help its getting very annoying.

Make sure all your gear has the +5 purple mods on them. And I think all you can do to level up is stuff that gives you powerful gear. Exotic are supposed to drop higher than your current level. Just remember that if you have a gun/armor piece at say 280 with a +5 mod the real value is 275 so any piece above 276 can be used to infuse into the 280 to get it higher. For example. weapon at 280 with a +5 mod installed with a 278 weapon infused into it would give you a weapon at 283. Or 278+5(from mod).

I don't know about Trials. Iron Banner is supposed to happen in a couple of weeks. I'm working on my secondary character while I wait for the reset. If they don't come up with more activities by the time I get them all levelled up,I'll only play every Tuesday and on special events. Oh..also. do your exotic quests. Exotic engrams have a cap it seems,but the quests always drop higher.

5 RepliesSame problem - at 275 - everything but exotics decrypting at 268 Bought the 270 exotics from Xur but they can't be infused with legendary gear. Two days now and zero progression- what am I doing wrong?

Infuse blues into legendary's, i dont know the broken math, but little by little they go up, im at 300-303 by doing this and powerful drops

Literally no way to until you get a "powerful" engram for that 271 piece

2 RepliesEdited by Baxcel: 9/16/2017 4:47:48 PMYour Mida and helm are actually 5 light lower then what they say due to the +5 power mod that comes on every exotic weapons. The way to raise your light further after 265 is to farm legendary Engram until you get one that has a +5 legendary mod on it. It will most likely be weaker then your current gear but if you infuse your current items into it, the +5 will make it higher then your other stuff. The game reads your equips with out the mods to determine what light the gear drops at. You'll look bad due to random gear but you can worry about that once your able to make legendary mods at power lv280

3 RepliesDo you have any milestones or quests you haven't completed yet? Nightfall will help as well. Cayde's Treasure Maps can give you a legendary or exotic as well. I hope that helps

Complete events that day powerful gear rewards. Plus creating more characters seemed to help. I was stuck at 276 for most people f the week, then I completed the nightfall and flashpoint. Got me up to 280. That was my Lock. Now that I finished story with my Titan, found better weapons and both characters are 284+. I'm going to create a Hunter next week so hopefully that puts me over 300. Also, clan rewards seemed to be dropping high level rewards also.

Make a new character, level to 20 as fast as you can while leaving most milestones incomplete, then transfer your 270s gear over to your new character and do the milestones. That should push you into the 280 - 300s range.

Edited by dnrobs: 9/15/2017 12:47:08 PMOnce youve done everything you can for rewards it's wait for reset time, sometimes you can go months without ever being able to get max light. The mmo way. People usually do trials over the weekend, if your into that it will help fill the week.
