The hunter has less team utility in many ways, but it has some stuff going for it. The Arc Strider has less tools and is less powerful than the BladeDancer in PvP, but unlike the BladeDancer it is 100% PvE viable. This is a great improvement. The Arc Strider can actually DPS the crap out of bosses, maybe the most of any class. The heavy attack in his super interrupts boss stomps and knockbacks, so going HAM with your melee super is no longer a death sentence. Sure, the Arc Strider doesn't have a phenomenal set of perks, but it lives entirely without fear of the nerf bat. The Gunslinger in Way of hte Sharpshooter can generate gobs of orbs for the team, and with the Celestial Nighthawk it is the single highest damage super on a boss in the entire game. Sharpshooter gets his supre up incredibly often since headshots charge his super faster, just headshots, not even kills. The throwing knife is also still a beast. The Nighstalker in Way of the Trapper can make a huge shadowshot tether and share damage across all enemies, as well as blinding and slowing enemies with his melee smoke bomb and he can dodge into invisibility. The Hunter is decent. I was right there with you thinking it was total garbage, but I was wrong. The class ability is still a bit meh, but as you get better armor with better mods you can reduce its cooldown and it is much better. Titans and Warlocks are a bit stronger, but not by so much it is that bad, and the Hunter is totally fine. If you want to play a Hunter, go for it.
