Leviathan Raid is frustrating, here's why.

Hey all. My first post in a long time. So basically, I played the raid today. OH BOY, WHERE DO I BEGIN? So firstly, the revive system is complete crap. Really bungie? revive tokens in a raid? Ever stop to think of how soul crushing it is to get so far in an encounter, then wipe because no one can revive a guy? OH, AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON WIPES BECAUSE OF THAT. The 30 second timer that causes a wipe if a teammate is not revived? I legit wanted to smash my xbox after the 27th try at baths, getting to the last rotation, and having someone die in mid. I AM FURIOUS WITH YOU, BUNGIE. I could understand choosing one or the other, between these two mechanics, but BOTH? How is this even remotely fair and balanced? I could do it with a team that is good, but when most of my friends are casual players and my clan is filled with mostly my friends (Reminder, mostly casual players), I have to get a bunch of randoms, and my social anxiety goes on overdrive when I do that. Seriously, my team was decent, but we just couldn't get past garden in the end. I love the visuals of the raid, and the music is good, but the death related mechanics are completely and utterly TRASH. Go back to destiny 1 raid death systems, and it might be less infuriating to do. I just can't enjoy the raid like this, and as my titan is at 295 as of raid launch, I felt like I would be able to handle it. I really did. I was hopeful for this raid, bungie. I was really hopeful. I should have known better. If anyone ever wants to try to run the raid, and will be willing to put up with my anxiety around new people, please feel free to message me. I just need better teammates than my friends, no offense to them. I just want to get things done and I can't do that with the people I play with normally. Again, I don't hate the raid itself. I really enjoyed the visuals, and the mechanics. The only real complaint I have as a long term player is that the death mechanics are too punishing for a normal mode raid. EDIT: All of this is referring to NORMAL MODE MECHANICS. Please relate my post to D1 Normal raids, not hard raids. EDIT 2: Thank you all for your replies. I really want to specifically mention that the raid didn't feel [i]hard[/i] for me, but it felt too punishing for the players who did end up dying. each run, one player at least would die, and I died significantly less than the others on my team. I was frustrated at the time of the original post, causing my phrasing to not be very clear about what I meant. Yes, this raid is a challenge, but I could beat it with a team that actually could coordinate better than my original team. I need to be able to trust my teammates to play well, but both teams I ran with had people I couldn't really trust, as I had played with them before and they were really bad.

  • I love how I come to these forums and hear about how hard this stuff is and then I go to do it and it's not even close. Give it a week or two and people will complain about it not being challenging enough, more than some already are.

        • Honestly it's a raid. It's supposed to be hard. If you have a lot of friends that are casuals then that's your problem. Go find a group that is as hardcore of a player as you and you'll be happy. I think the raid was set a a perfect difficulty. IMHO I think there were raids in D1 that where a lot more mechanically difficult compared to this raid. Dying in a raid in general was already punishing. These added punishments don't make too much of a difference in the end. Generally (in this raid and past raids) If one person goes down then it's a big loss, and if I remember correctly you can revive someone immediately now compared to a timer before. Which is a much larger benefit than unlimited revives. The reason people wipe after a down is mainly cause that person is out of a prolonged period of time. At least now when someone goes down you can immediately get them back up and hopefully get a chance to recover.

        • As far as revive tokens go I mean every hard mode raid in D1 there was no revives what so ever so take the practice to not dying at all or very minimally the raid is supposed to be challenging its end game content

          • TL;DR im bad at surviving i did fine and im below 280 the only reason i didnt get past the bath house was cause one on my fire team members had to tuck his kid into bed and get some sleep before work, come on dude

            • Don't play with scrubs, simple. You know early on if a team has it or not. The team I was playing with last night are average players with excellent communication and that got us to the emperor. We will beat him tonight. I personally love the raid and it's challenges, if you want easy go play call of duty where you mindlessly kill shit.

            • Play with randoms, I don't deal with this stuff trying to organize times with friends. This raid I went through like 8 or 10 groups in total. Sometimes you get really experienced dudes, sometimes you don't.

            • Why are you so frustrated? The raid just came out. Over time raids get easier. Don't take it too seriously, dude. It's just a video game. If a video game makes you feel like this, you better find something else to do.

              • I had a similar experience where one player died over and over, but to me that felt fine. It's this raids mechanic, and I can deal with it.

                I'm not a big raider but I'm guaranteeing I'll be able to beat this raid and any other raid from any other game, no sweat, just gimme some half way decent players and some time [spoiler]titans suck, too, just thought yall should know[/spoiler]

                • Destiny Raids have always been extremely hard the first time. Just remember your first D1 raid no matter which one; took 12+ hours if not days! Now remember going back a year later, took 45min and it was easy! I agree with OP on the death tokens and a timer; thats BS!

                • I completely agree. The current system should be for hard mode. My squad couldn't make it past baths. One of my friends said he was in it for 12 HOURS and couldn't beat the emperor because, you know, 12 hours. Lots of wipes

                • I hate the fact that instead of giving me loot, it just gave me keys to loot (for the first half, haven't done gauntlet yet). I like the exploration aspect, but it honestly doesn't feel rewarding when you finish a hard encounter

                • I'm fine with difficult. I'm fine with frustrating. I'm fine with unfair. But I'm not okay with not getting any gear whatsoever from an entire raid.
