Zavala, weak or not?
Based on what we've seen from cutscenes in D2, does Commander Zavala seem weaker than his the rest if his vanguard members?
Cayde and Ikora seem to be more skilled and better with there light based abilities than Zavala is.
Cayde seems to be very adept at using golden gun, and even skilled enough to fight of multiple cabal without his light, yet zavala struggles.
Ikora is shown to have a extreme amount of control over her blink ability to the point that she can blink with other people. She also is no pushover as a voidwalker. She took down that ship with ease.
Zavala seems to be a weak link other than his leader ship skills.
Let me know your opinions on the subject.

13 RepliesIn my opinion, he is just a bad guardian. In his origin story, he is easily taken out by a few vandals and in the Homecoming mission he stays behind a rock and does nothing whereas Cayde, Ikora or any other major guardians would have destroyed all of the Cabal and wouldn't need our help.

Zavala is no slouch, even without his light. His weakness is his stubbornness and reluctance to think outside the box. You don't become vanguard Commander by being weak.

1 ReplyHe used Ward of Dawn to block countless Cabal missiles as the tower was being destroyed. So we know his light is strong. When retaking the city he managed to wrestle a gun as big as himself away from a legionnaire without any light to give him super strength.

10 RepliesEdited by Double Tappz: 9/14/2017 1:17:31 PMZavala (and Titans in general) tend to be zealots. They are stalwart in their belief in the traveler and their light. So when the light just vanishes, it rocks Zavala to his core, leaving him broken and unsure. Cayde and Ikora don't rely on that belief. Cayde is a Hunter, and hunters rely on their senses and trust their gut, so while he can't pull a flaming gun out of the air, he doesn't change too much. Ikora is a warlock, and warlocks rely on their mind. They are problem solvers, and thus can push past any snags in a plan they make, such as being unable to use their light. As far as lore goes, Cayde is technically the weakest link. Ikora was the best in the crucible, followed by Zavala, and Cayde bringing up the rear. Cayde would try to cheat to keep up with them, as can be seen by the lore on the Lucky Pants Hunter exotic.

Well on one of my play throughs, the first mission Zavala died in his own bubble and I had to revive him.

Zavala can literally die in the opening mission of the game lol - resulting in your needing to revive him. He's a scrub, can't even make it through the tutorial.

4 RepliesHe used FoH twice in a cinematic... I'd check your sources. He's very powerful. His WoD withstood dozens, possibly hundreds of missiles, while protecting everyone inside. Look into things before you state things.

2 RepliesAnother thing I noticed when you open the door and cayde does a triple kill golden gun he says "wait there you two" but it's only me. The thing is you can hear ikora speaking it's as if she is supposed to be beside me but isn't.
