im not asking how her arm was lost, i'm asking why the unsc didnt just flash clone her a new arm???
why didnt they just do that?
(not about Reach but still a valid question) and why did the unsc need to abduct 6 year olds to make spartan II's?
why didnt they just clone one genetically perfect child over and over again?

Besides, their unique personalities are what make them so combat effective. They can all look at scenarios differently. Also, as I recall (could be mistaken), the UNSC's cloning capabilities were limited. It wasn't a perfected science, therefore could cause unwanted side effects. I think all they could do consistently were organs.

It makes the character unique and different. Anyway, by then, robotic arms are quick and easy to install, hassle free.
-
1) its illegal 2) the flash cloned arm would deteriorate really really fast and it would be usless 3) a robotic arm is a lot less trouble and its probably cheeper plus she cant feel it so if it gets shot it wont hurt and the reason they need 6 year olds is because if you look at the SpartanII's they are 7 feet tall. so if they took someone thats full grown and manipulated their DNA to make them taller, thats going to really deform them. so if they do it while they're growing then they just grow more.
Posted by: OniLink147
Posted by: Cranium Crater I don't know if the UNSC can clone people... and the body would probably reject the arm, similar to how bodies reject organs sometimes.
It's a common medical procedure in Halo. They flash clone a body part to replace a damaged one. And to the OP they did clone the Spartans, the clones were left with the parents though because clones die prematurely.
i dont mean flash clone the spartans i mean real cloning , simple cloning. taking the nucleus of on of the 6 year old [pre spartanazation :) ] spartans and puting it into the egg of a surrogate mother. the egg would of had its nucleus removed. that is how 'dolly' the sheep was cloned.
Posted by: NarrowXleaderX im pretty shore the unsc kid naped 6 year old for the spartan 3's and 2's. were there ever spartan 1's? because in the first book it does say that the spartan in training watched a video with 300 spartans but then that could be referring to the ancient greeks.
Spartan II's = kidnapped, Spartan III's = orphans who were asked to volunteer, and the kids naturally wanted revenge and did. and that was refering to greeks.
Posted by: Cranium Crater I don't know if the UNSC can clone people... and the body would probably reject the arm, similar to how bodies reject organs sometimes.
They can flash clone organs based upon tissue from the doner. That is how Dt. Hasley saved Linda. OP, Kat probably wanted to keep the robotic arm becaues it reminded her of some error she commited on the field or something similar. You know, Spartan pride.

Cloning was not perfected yet. In fact, in the Halo Universe cloning was never perfected. When each Spartan was abducted they were flash cloned and the clone was sent to the family. The clone died very soon after. Cloning spartans would mean they would drop dead a few weeks later. Which is not so good for moral.
-
the clones they can make don't last very long - they all died because of imperfections very soon - so the same thing would happen to the new arm?

All the clones died within a year. Answer that question? :P

Thats how John-117 was taken away from his family. They created a clone of him that later died of natural causes to make his family think he died.
It had a genetic disease to make it die because they can only last so long before complications occur. It would have been impossible to create cloned spartans and i can imagine how horrible if the spartans had something similar to the clone troopers order 66 if someone got ahold of it and used it wrongly
whats that?

NO remember in halo 2 if you jump up and down allot in the first room, he says HEY WATCH IT your gonna tear a tendon doing that. and she was jumping up and down on her hands!! it it fell off!

Im an elite i probably ate it!

Well if it makes any difference, I would take a robot arm over a real one any day... =D
-
You can't flash clone limbs. You flash clone organs and people(full bodies or a full working organ).

driving... crazy woman drivers, or maybe! it was a freak toaster accident, she accidently buttered the toast before she put it in the toaster and BOOM! wait wait... you dont wanna know how she lost it O.O

maybe 500 years from now the tech will be good enough to make clones of a full person but not good enough to make body parts for people
