May I ask why? Maybe the Burn should be displayed for more than 5 seconds, but not go away in my opinion? Are you having trouble? This was thing in destiny 1 as well.

It needs a indicator, a little element buff emblem next to your bar would be a welcome addition Sometimes we lose track even when calling it out when we see the switch

I believe this was intended actually (a persistent indicator of some kind) and it isn't working properly for some reason.
