I doubt anyone on the team will read this, and the title sounds sarcastic, but I just have to say thank you for making this quest. Last October, my close buddy killed himself, and I've been dealing with it, trying to grieve and deal with it, but it's not so easy. It eats away at me, missing him every day. When I booted up Destiny 2 and it showed my memories, the first time I did things with people, and TTK came up as me, my wife, and him, I almost cried. It hurt so badly. So when
Failsafe
says she was getting messaged from
her former team, and we had to go find the captain for her, to confirm he was dead,
it was painful. And at the end of the quest is when it hit me that, to me, this is the most valuable quest in the game, when she says
even when you know someone's gone, you try to imagine a world where they were still here, no matter how impossible.
I'm crying now, as I type this. Thank you for making this quest. Thank you for making me feel this pain more. It reminds me of him, and I value that very much.
Long time fan,
Anthony Thibault

To everyone that sees how popular this post is, stop and read it and think. This is a somber, serious, and even heart wrenching thread about OPs loss. Don't you dare use his loss, his grief, and his gratitude for your own selfish personal gain. Grow up and show some respect.
I know we are all excited for D2 and many are starting there own clans and are ready to create there own intricate families. Just not here please. There is a separate forum specifically for this. Good luck in your recruitment.
There's an adventure on Nessus where you have to search for 2 of the other crew members who left early due to a disagreement with the Captain, this also holds sentimental value as failsafe says about how now knowing what happened they will live on in my memory forever.

Edited by AesirSyn: 9/13/2017 4:45:26 PMOne of my very first Destiny buddies passed in Jan. I couldn't even play D1 without him. D2 has been rough but I keep his pic near my playstation. I miss him so much. I'm sorry for your loss but we have to hold on to the good memories. Here is his memorial video. https://youtu.be/KxBdJSvPny0

8 RepliesJust this past Friday, the girl I loved died in a car accident. She was crossing the street on her way to my place when she was hit. I was running strikes when she was hit, I was sleeping when she died in the hospital a few hours later. Having ran the O Captain quest just last night, Failsafe's masked grieving... I get it. It hurts. It hurts alot. In my head I run through a multitude of things I could've done that night to have prevented her from dying. Going up to xur this Friday isn't going to feel right without her leaning on my shoulder half asleep asking what I'm doing and who the hooded guy with tentacles for a face is. The only thing I have of hers left are these two silver rings she got us, they were sets. I have two, she has two. I'm so happy that the high minded complex gloves exist, because that armor piece puts rings upon my guardians left hand fingers. I'm never going to unequip those gauntlets, and I'm never going to stop wearing these rings IRL. I feel your pain OP, I feel your pain.

Edited by Duardo: 9/13/2017 12:38:02 PMOne of my best friends did the same thing about three years ago. It's actually his birthday today. He was really excited to play Destiny and Halo, so sometimes it can be raw playing the games without him. I'm glad to hear some of Bungie's games have helped people through difficult times.

1 ReplyI will admit, I was moved by that questline. I honestly hoped for a better ending, but fairy tales rarely come true. Seeing this thread made me reflect on a difficult loss I had years ago. It may have been a pet, but I thought of him like a son, and I still miss him.

1 ReplyI too, use death for attention

We all find closure in one way or another. I'm glad that you found it, especially here. Keep those eyes up, guardian.

6 RepliesEdited by Hulk: 9/14/2017 12:59:53 PMO Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done, The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won, The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting, While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring; But O heart! heart! heart! O the bleeding drops of red, Where on the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead. O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells; Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills, For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding, For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning; Here Captain! dear father! This arm beneath your head! It is some dream that on the deck, You’ve fallen cold and dead. My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still, My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will, The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done, From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won; Exult O shores, and ring O bells! But I with mournful tread, Walk the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead. By Walt Whitman

7 RepliesWhile you are free to express yourself just a little heads up that Bungie hardly notices these forums. On the occasion you may get Deej or Cozmo but you are better off sending them an email or posting this on reddit. Good luck.~
