The provided clan name or clan tag is not acceptable, please choose another.
I've had the same clan tag and name for almost 3 years why is it not acceptable ... i wouldnt have this problem if i didnt have to update the About Us section because of the update and now that im trying to re-enter everything its not acceptable. i didnt buy destiny 2 to come back to this....... please do something about it.

Ok so I just managed to change my clan name. I think my original "About Us" was too long. Though the error message did not refer to the about us section. I removed much of the existing text from about us and I am able to make changes to clan name and clan tag as before.

1 ReplyI found a potential workaround...I hope it will work for you guys. I first tried to edit my existing clan via laptop. I tried different combinations for clan name, motto, bio, everything. Nothing worked. Just now I thought to try and edit it via phone with the Destiny 2 app. Boom. It worked. I really hope this will work for all of you. I don't know if I got lucky.

Same problem.... I try to add "Next Objective: Kill the Giant Hemorrhoid in Power Armor (Ghaul)" and Hemorrhoid is a forbidden word apparently :|

On 9/16 I also had this issue while trying to create a clan on the companion app, however, I used the exact same name and the exact same motto when creating it on the pc and it gave me no errors. It seems like a communication issue for the app itself and not the whole clan creation process. Hopefully this helps.

1 ReplySame issue. Been begging for updates or acknowledgement of this issue. It has been two weeks. Not understanding why this is happening. Was told a patch was coming out 9/5 and hopefully it would resolve this issue. CLEARLY IT DIDN'T. My clan has been around since March 26th 2015. Everything transferred over except the clan motto. I am trying to add it back as well as update the about us and I keep getting an error that reads "The provided clan name or clan tag is not acceptable, please choose another." Everything transfered over from my clan except the motto. When I try to add it back or edit the About us section, I get a warning stating I can only make one change per second and then the unacceptable clan name/tag pops up. Now instead of a warning of 1 sec it is a 72 hour warning and then boom. "Unacceptable clan name/tag." I have tried EVERYTHING, including adjusting word count. I can not make any revisions to the culture text section. Can not add a motto, revise About Us. Nothing. About Us section is shorter than what it is currently I can not save that change because it kicks back not having a motto. Which I can not add.

1 ReplyWe have the same issue. I've checked for any objectionable words and tried about two dozen minor modifications, but it won't let me save no matter what I do. I even tried slight changes to our clan name, clan tag, and motto. I should have filled out those fields while it was still possible.

I just fixed mine by deleting the word "Crush" from the clan description. this is retarded, bungie should release a list of banned words.

Exactly the same issue in my clan and Bungie is doing a awesome job ignoring us all ! As usual keep up the good work Bungie ! I'm sure some moderator will jump in and have absolutely no clue and try palm us off without actually explaining the cause and offering a solution. We'll just wait and see, hopefully have a answer before D3 lol 😂

1 ReplySAME. We have been having this problem for over 2 weeks now and are a 2 year old clan, that hasn't changed our name or clan tag... I was also trying to edit the deleted bio, same as above and get that message.

I'm just trying to make a new clan because all of my friends are jumping ship onto PC, however nothing i put in seems to change it and i keep getting told that the Clan Name or Clan Tag is not acceptable, I don't know what is wrong about it, I've gone through at least 20 names and keep getting that answer. Bungie why do you have to be so silent about this

Same problem here. trying to to get a clan started has been pretty painful and this doesn't help. I've made sure to have 0 words even remotely similar what could be considered inappropriate unless PvP or PvE are dirty words....

If anybody is trying to use a number in your clan name or tag, try it without the number. That solved the issue for us.

Chock one up for my clan as well. really need this to work so i can convey the clan to other potential memebers. also tried to clear the about me section and it also didn't work......would like an acknowledgement of the problem in the blog or on the Known Issues help section.

For instance in the About Us section I had "F-bomb" so I was getting that warning. Deleting that made it accept the changes. So if your Clan name, tag OR About Us contains a word or phrase Bungie has marked as inappropriate you'll get a warning. It could just be an coincidence, but making that change fixed it for me.

I'm so glad that i'm not the only one with this problem... So i made a clan cause most my friends left for destiny 2 on pc and now that i got new people in the clan, i kinda wanna change the about us but it won't allow me cause as you say yourself.. my clan name and clan tag is not acceptable.
